For my 2025 taxes, it took me forever to check out. It kept crashing on my Apple payment. It was frustrating enough that for this years taxes, I’ll be trying TurboTax. ### 2/5 — Pseudo sincerity *2026-06-19, version 14.7.0* You should know, they will overhype their app, keeping it up to date FOR security, etc, but even the most basic functions (e.g. changing your hone address), they force you to the browser to do so. ### 3/5 — Doesn’t fully work… *2026-05-04, version 14.7.0* None of the “Learn more” links, or any other links for that matter, open up so you can actually read them. The “Print return” button at the end also doesn’t open. So…. You inevitably have to login to your laptop or login via a web browser outside of the app to download any paperwork. It filed successfully, so 3 stars. But it doesn’t work 100% ### 1/5 — Federal Return Rejected with No Explanation *2026-04-14, version 14.7.0* My federal return was rejected and HR Block's software refused to show me the IRS rejection code - information the IRS sends to them automatically. Instead I was sent through an endless loop back to a section their own accuracy review had already cleared. With no way to know if the problem was a data error or too many filing attempts, I was forced to mail my return on the April 15 deadline instead of e-filing. I paid for a service that failed me at the worst possible moment. Requesting a refund of my filing fee. Why why why ### 1/5 — Nimrod *2026-04-12, version 14.7.0* I went into this experience hoping to get some assistance with my 2024 taxes done. The man named Don in the Hawaiian shirt wasn’t able to assist me in any way what so ever. Don was only able to refer me to phone numbers that ultimately lead me nowhere. Don seems too be only able to make light of a situation that to others can be a stressful situation. Dons’ repetitive and undesired jokes made me feel like he didn’t take his job seriously. He was able to talk me into working my 2025 taxes which I was more than capable of doing myself, then charged me 50~% of my return. I will never do business with H&R Block again after about 7 years of my service to you. Dons years of work with H&R Block and especially his time in the service did not show prevalent that day and I doubt his ability to do his job professionally. I kept using it because it had previous years tax info stored. This year, I clicked one box wrong and was informed that I would need to re-enter everything. I am done with this company. ### 2/5 — Broken links *2026-03-30, version 14.7.0* The app is decent but every green link does absolutely nothing when you click it. It has made my tax experience significantly longer than it needed to be because I have to go out of my way to go research what something means instead of just simply clicking the link that is supposed to help but doesn’t even open a page. It also forced me to pay $100 to review my investment forms but allowed me to upload them before the paywall. And every time I fixed something after doing my own research on how to fill out the investment forms, it made me go through the credits and penalties spiel about finding them after I already did it. This is going to be my last year using this app. I don’t recommend ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2026-03-28, version 14.7.0* Waste of time to download, you have to go to a website anyway, then put in all the same info to finish your return, may as well do it there. It gets ridiculous have to put the same information in multiple times. To top it off, they have your email, photos of your id, and a selfie…be prepared to have your identity sold and be dominated with unwanted emails plus the hackers stealing all that information. ### 1/5 — Unusable *2026-03-28, version 14.7.0* Filed solely through the app and had no problems last year. This year I can’t even get pass the login page because it doesn’t detect that I’m still using the same device I’ve had for five years. After entering my password, getting a code to my phone or my email simply doesn’t send anything. The options remain grayed out. Asking for a code to my email as an alternative to logging in just results in an “uh oh error”. Fix this ### 1/5 — Garbage *2026-03-23, version 14.7.0* I’ve used this app and service for baby years and this newest showing is straight up garbage. The interface is unintuitive. I had simple question and was passed off to 3 people who didn’t know squat. ### 1/5 — Do not use *2026-03-21, version 14.7.0* I tried to file without paying for a tax pro, and my taxes hadn’t even been submitted. The only time they submitted them is when I paid an extra 97.00 for a tax pro. I will never be using H&R Block again. They said TurboTax is way better. If I could give negative stars I would. It’s like they’re forcing you to spend your money. ### 1/5 — You and intuit are lobbying dirtbags *2026-03-14, version 14.6.0* I find it absolutely insane how you lot lobby to prevent the IRS from establishing an independent filing FREE service from you, just so you can shove ads in our faces, and make it difficult to downgrade from deluxe after an accidental click. Mail it in. The ‘expert’ was nice enough to ask if she could close the case after wasting my time. I filled my 2025 taxes with H&R Block and paid to utilize their product. I received a notice from the IRS indicating that I was receiving a penalty for ‘failing to pay 2025 estimated amount’. Long story short I found that even though I had manually inserted the correct numbers from our W2’s, H&R Block’s product generated and utilized an incorrect “Federal Income Tax Withheld” value. Meaning, that the values were correct in the confirmation window, but overrode once it processed into the last step and what was reflected on the Tax Return Summary. I spoke to several operators, walked them through the situation and provided them proof. I was either told to take it up with the IRS, I needed to pay an additional fee to speak to an H&R Block specialist to review my tax filing, or that they only dealt with mistakes as a result of their product. Needless to say, this was a product miscalculation output. I’m not sure why we are asked to pay to utilize H&R Block services (regardless what service you utilize) to file our taxes and they don’t take responsibility when their product is faulty — wether intentional or intentional. I was asked to submit a claim explaining all of this in detail, keep in mind that the deadline to pay this to the IRS was way before my claim would be addressed. H&R Block declined paying back for their products miscalculation output. I’m sure I’m not the only one that is experiencing this. Please keep an eye out for this type of theft. I’m not using H&R Block’s services ever again - they lost my trust. ### 1/5 — Scammy *2026-05-26, version 14.7.0* Awful experience. First of all, I was only able to do my federal thru the app. Second, I had to do the state portion thru web browser, then it tried to force me to choose a ‘tax pro’ that I needed to see in person. The single worth tax experience of ALL TIME. ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2026-05-14, version 14.7.0* I’m honestly debating doing my taxes somewhere else because this app is such a pain. It makes me put my password in and then I have to also send a text message or an email with a code and even if I choose and not put my password in and do the email or the text message. It still makes me put my password after. You can’t transfer funds out and I tried to add a linked account four times and it would finally add it and then the next day it would be gone and I would have to add it again. The app just doesn’t make any sense at all and the settings are so bar and horrible. It’s not helpful and then when you try to call customer service it says the hours of operation or 7 AM to 10 PM and even when I’m in between that timeframe, it still hangs up on me. ### 1/5 — Cost to much to file *2026-04-21, version 14.7.0* Had to pay 222 dollars even after a 50 dollar discount ### 1/5 — Emerald card who?? *2026-04-21, version 14.7.0* I’ve been an HR Block client for many years and never have I ever had more trouble with the Emerald Card than I have had this year. No where in the myBlock app (on my phone) does it say “add card” and when I try the log in for the Emerald Card via HR Block web site, it takes me back to the myBlock app. (on my phone), And NO WHERE on this app is an Emerald Card ‘log in ‘ place , or ‘available balance’, etc. Yes I know, “call the 1800 # on back of card “ , I have & it too, has got me No where. *Will someone PLEASE show me I’m wrong. I really, really want to be wrong. Thank you. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2026-04-16, version 14.7.0* I’ve used this app for several years and this (by far) was the worst experience. Most links didn’t work if I needed more information. Leaving my tax return and coming back to it was a nightmare. I either had to start over or spent a lot of time hitting the back button. I’ve always paid my taxes through the app and this year I couldn’t, which is fine, but it was not clear whether I had paid them. My credit card information was in the system after paying for the service. Was it used to pay federal also? No instruction and I don’t feel confident at all in this service this year. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2026-04-15, version 14.7.0* First year filing online with H&R and I’d just like to say I’m never doing it again. I don’t have the money to hire a tax professional but there’s no way to downgrade to file yourself if you accidentally upgrade, the site tells you to call and the bot is useless and gives you false information. I called my local H&R Block and they have no idea how to do anything either! I’m tight on time and already stressed enough, this app (and the site!) did nothing to help accept for make me more upset and frustrated. ### 1/5 — Deceptive behaviour *2026-04-15, version 14.7.0* You spend hours filling the forms and then they log you out and demand biometrics for you to access your forms. Phone, email, and any identifiable information is not enough. They also share your data with Google and Meta as per their privacy policy ### 1/5 — Literally doesn’t work *2026-04-14, version 14.7.0* H&R Block has proven they don’t have to care about the user experience. And why would they when they’ve built themselves a monopoly? The app renders UI items outside of the screen, making certain functions impossible to use. It constantly logs you out. Etc. I didn’t receive my full federal refund for 23, 24 due to some tech problems they had; this year they required extra $200, besides their expensive fees, so their “expert” reviews my health insurance information. I abandoned them and turned to H&R. I hope I will not be disappointed. ### 5/5 — Since 1996 *2026-02-19, version 14.6.0* Frida Cohan best Tax Agent at her job. She guide me and never let me down. Her staff is wonderful and love getting my taxes done every year with her. If you thinking about it!! This year i got directed to my block, and I guess this an updated version. I think the only thing they could do better would be the messaging, wish it was an interactive chat, instead of email style. The person i had was so limited in their response to what I had to do further, when I message back I don’t get a response. So I call the helpline and they cant do anything, they say you need to speak with your agent. I feel bad for the agent because around this time they’re probably helping hundreds of people. Im still filing with H&R block in the future but i think they need to tweak a few things. Everyone I talk too at the office I go too or around when my accountants office is closed is so nice and helpful with answering all my tax questions. I want to send a big shout out to the chariton iowa hr block and the Pella iowa location for answering my questions when my accountant is unavailable. I look forward to doing my taxes with h and r block for many years to come. Hr block gets 5 stars in book ### 5/5 — The best of the best *2020-04-11* I have been going through H&RBLOCK for 27 years now we’ll 1 year I decided to go to Jackson Hewitt well I didn’t think it sounded right so I went to H&RBLOCK to have them check it over well I was being ripped off by $3,000 that’s a lot of money that Jackson Hewitt was ripping me off on. So H&RBLOCK helped me on what to do to stop the filing process through Jackson Hewitt which I still had to pay the fees but that was better then losing out on so much more. I ended up having H&RBLOCK file for me and I got my $3,000 more then what I was. I will never doubt H&RBLOCK again. And to this day I get the best service and help from them as I did when I first started going there. H&R Block . As far as a Tax advisor, request “Calvin” . I know for a FACT, that Calvin will treat you RIGHT ! He has a special way of making sure you are feeling comfortable sharing your monetary information. He will answer any and all questions you may have, plus supply you with many suggestions for making helpful changes that will increase your chances for a Better return, next year. Calvin has been my H&R representative, for over 15 years , through all of my, and my husbands, ups, downs, additions, as well as those years that didn’t really work out quite as nice as expected. ☹️ Good luck in your search and also know if you do choose Calvin, or a different preparer, you ABSOLUTELY CAN’T GO WRONG, with HAMMER RANCH H&R BLOCK, Stockton, CA . But it ended up being a difficult long process for me and they kept trying to require my to upgrade beyond the free option to put in my college sheets. So I went back to H&R Block cause I used it last year. Not only did it take less than 10 minutes to use but my refund was higher than what turbo tax offered!! Definitely the way to go!!
