I got an older iPad and thought that was the answer, but after downloading the BSF app I found that the most recent lesson it loaded was from 2021. The App Store did throw up a message about downloading the most recent version that was compatible with the iPad's iOS, but don't understand why it's unable to add any more recent lessons. Must fix it. It doesn’t populate the play button and that’s so frustrating. I like to follow along with reading it. It’s an easy fix.. instead of trying to download the file to play it, the app developers should upload those recordings in the server so it can be played automatically. ### 2/5 — BSF *2025-02-19, version 5.15.0* App freezes up and information can’t be accessed ### 3/5 — Great Information poor layout *2025-01-13, version 5.14.1* BSF is an amazing way to study God’s word. Unfortunately the app design is really lacking. For example if you are in the app and want to listen to the lecture or the notes there is no tab. My BSF leader told us to hit the help then select My BSF which will then take you to the website where you have to sign in. Who would logically think to hit help for this. There should be a tab for lecture and notes. ### 3/5 — iPad gets stuck on startup in the language selection *2024-11-19* I did previously select my language, English. I love the app by many times when I try to start the program, it gets stock in the language selection. When I select next, nothing happens. I’m using a 6th generation iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard. To keep my work and be able to access it on my iPhone 15, I have to back out of the area I’m working in so it can sync to my phone. Then if the program freeze on startup, I uninstall and reinstall the BSF program. It seems like that is my only choice when it freezes. ### 3/5 — Could be so much more *2024-10-12* This app could be so much better. For instance, when reading the notes and there’s a footnote, it takes you to the bottom of the page to read it. That works well when you’re reading paper notes. But with this app, you have to scroll all the way back to where you were reading, which isn’t always easy to find again, unless you specifically say to yourself, “ok, I was at the fourth paragraph in section two” or something similar to that. There should be a sentence bubble that pops up that you can close. That would work better. Also when a question has multiple Bible verses that require an answer to each one, you should have multiple input fields for each verse. But this app has seven verses and only one input box. ### 2/5 — App has bug *2024-09-22* Love the app, but Apple Music is blocking the app from streaming properly through Bluetooth in the car. Because Apple has coded music to ALWAYS PLAY in the car, when I tap play on the lecture or notes music also plays. Since Fleetwood Mac was a song played a lot that song plays while the BSF lectures or notes are also streaming. This makes it very difficult to concentrate. Turning off Play next, turning off the infinity symbol and turning off shuffle on all songs in my entire library doesn’t stop the music while also the BSF app is streaming. This doesn’t happen when not in the car streaming over blue tooth. Both of my cars also display the message that nothing is playing when this occurs. I spent two hours on a trouble call with Apple and the tech person says this is a problem. However I also think the app is not telling the phone it’s streaming and to stop other apps from interjecting. It should function also with navigation. When navigation speaks a direction the other app playing music or a lecture should pause they shouldn’t play at the same time. I really think it’s a combination of Apple problem with auto play forced on and this app not sending a signal it’s streaming content. The solution for now has been to delete the music app and subscribe to another service that has a feature to shut off auto play. However being I have an iPhone it would be nice if both BSF and Apple Music didn’t play at the same time when in the car on my commute. Thank you. ### 4/5 — Extremely helpful - but a few more tweaks would improve *2024-09-20, version 5.14.1* The app is a great way to work through the lessons, see the scriptures and keep on track. Transportability of the lessons helps you take a moment anywhere to stop, study, and reflect. But, the font on the area where one types the answers cannot be enlarge (not the pre-printed text font) and that is frustrating. Also, it would be so helpful if readers could have tools like bold or high lighting for the lesson notes. ### 3/5 — Missing the landing page *2024-09-14, version 5.14.1* When I use the app to login, it joins me to the lessons. It’s Missing the landing page I see when go to browser and login from bsfonline.org. I much prefer the landing page vs just seeing the lessons. Using the browser connects me to lectures, notes, groups, and the BSF store. I wish the app did that. ### 3/5 — Free not free *2024-09-13, version 5.14.1* Charged a dollar to my credit card the moment i downloaded the app. I would easily pay a dollar, I just don’t like surprises. I appreciate having all the resources in one place. My only real beef is that you cannot add your own notes as you listen to the lecture. Studying Revalation this year, your website was simple when we bought our study guide last summer but after what seems like 10 actual hours of trying to register and watch the lecture on line and trying to download your app , with no luck I’m done. When this year’s study is over I’ll never attend another BSF study ever again. Website’s that take your money but fight you on everything else are not for me. I’ll start praying for this study to come mercifully to a rapid end ### 1/5 — Issues, issues issues *2025-01-18, version 5.14.1* The people in the group are great, but all the hoops I have to jump through and difficulties signing in each time have become a headache I’d rather not deal with. When I use the app it makes my phone overheat. Once I enter information in the lesson plan for a specific day , I can’t navigate to other days, it gets stuck and I have to close and reopen the app. At that point it doesn’t record my last entry. Would be great if we could control playback of lectures from the main phone interface instead of the app. The app is a wonderful idea, but the execution makes it more painful than having it exist at all. ### 1/5 — Unusable app *2023-09-18, version 5.10.0* How can a five-year-old app on version 5.10.00 be so utterly unusable? While there is great potential here, having everything in one place, with links to appropriate readings, space to write down answers, etc, the execution is terrible. Waiting a minute for a link to work is unacceptable and completely destroys whatever meditation rhythm the user had established. The app crashed five times while I was trying to do lesson one. While I appreciate the efforts being made, I will have to go back to the old and environmentally unsound method of printing out the lessons and questions and filling them out with a pen. Only with AirPods, it will periodically pause. I love how the past lessons are all in the app too. All my notes in one place. The bible verses are right in the tool. No need to have a separate Bible app or Bible (although I often do use a study Bible with my lesson). I love the fact that whenever I have a minute or two, I can pull out my phone and do a bit of my heart work.
