This is in North Wales. I used my builder.com and selected for potential builders and had quotes. I selected the Builder who has now removed themselves from the app. Having taken me for a ride as far as money is concerned.. Plenty of photographs to see what works been done through all the time not really finishing anything. I now find that he is fiscally challenged and overstretched in other parts of the country. Within the app there should be some guidance on whether this company has a business plan and is financially Solvent. Also where their business HQ is. All in companies house so legit but…they seemed to be based in North Wales. As you do not offer tv engineers on your trades list. I cannot even post a job and you search for tradesmen who do that line of work you need to amend that list ### 1/5 — Be careful of scammers that get on this site *2024-06-05, version 10.3.0* Don’t pay money upfront ### 1/5 — The platform charge a lot *2024-05-23* Once you post the job ,you will pay. Think twice if you really want to find a handyman here. Pay pay pay .Many emails and alert emails to you and the over time ,overdue charge. ### 2/5 — A tradesman’s perspective *2024-04-28* MyBuilder allows you to list jobs to find suitable tradespeople. As soon as your ad is listed, they notify relevant tradesmen of the lead and they charge an exceptional fee to receive the details. In some cases, up to 30% of the jobs value. If you are not 100% serious about hiring someone immediately for the job, please avoid using this platform at all costs. MyBuilder does a very poor job of notifying homeowners how the platform makes money, and some people just scope out rough prices without intention to hire someone - this costs the tradesmen a lot. I’ve received leads on here that don’t even own the home they are seeking quotes for, yet the tradespeople are paying £70 + for these ‘leads’. Sometimes, 6/7 people have registered interest, making MyBuilder £400 + for a single ad, whilst no tradesman gets the job and the customer is none the wiser of the chaos and cost that has resulted in their ad. You will get contacted a lot once you list a job - this is purely because it’s cost the tradesman so much to get your details in the first place. Please use the platform considerately of those paying the price and only list a job if you are seeking action immediately. ### 1/5 — “Improved” but not for me *2024-04-17, version 9.2.0* I used mybuilder.com for four years and found it very good. In Feb 2024, they improved the app. Now if you post a job. you will get bombarded with SMS texts you cannot reply to, and then instant phone calls, if you don’t immediately deal with the text!! However inconvenient that may be. No chance of controlling contact through emails first, which I liked. New changes ruined it for me. So back to Checkatrade I guess. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — They hide negative reviews *2026-01-05* I have used this app several times and always added positive feedback where appropriate. However most recently I have had absolutely shoddy service. And been left travelling several hours for no purpose. When I reviewed the company that did this, the app developers replied saying they were removing my review as, at that stage I hadn’t commenced to work. Quite clearly all they want to do is make all the reviews look good. Have a great day, Carol! ### 1/5 — MyCowboy *2025-12-22* This app doesn’t vet traders like other platforms or remove scammers when they are reported with evidence. ***Do not use*** Hired someone for a small job through MyBuilder who turned out to be have a profile of fake reviews, and giving people a false name and fake address. The work they carried out was beyond amateurish and I was threatened with violence for not paying a fairly trivial amount of money within hours of the work being completed - despite being sent an invoice with terms and before I had seen the work. Have a great day, Carol! ### 1/5 — Terrible service *2025-10-30* The app is terrible, the people are dishonest and will base their prices, work on appearances. I have been scammed 3 times and I still have a whole house to do. The app asked for update and refused to reload for a week so I lost all my contacts. He took money in advance and never showed his face. I want my money back. ### 1/5 — Full of scammers *2025-05-20* I hired a few builders with great reviews. All their work was terrible quality. I lost time, money, and my house was trashed. From now on I’ll never hire based on internet reviews again, I will only go through referrals. ### 1/5 — Terrible customer service and untruthful app *2025-02-04* Met a fraud case through the app. They just deleted all the conversation history when argument appears. Untraceable and just kick u out. ### 1/5 — Don’t post job if you don’t read this *2025-01-21* MyBuilder scams people pretty way and charges tradespeople only for sharing your contact details, meaning: you, as a potential client post a job, tradesperson sends you interest and then you choose either shortlist them or not (you can shortlist couple of them) but please don’t do that if you’re not planning to pay a reasonable price (check prices for your job in google before posting) because everyone you shortlist will be charged £6 to £35 even if you don’t hire them Thanks for understanding ### 1/5 — Do not use this app! *2024-12-11* Builder was unprofessional and rude when we didn’t take him for the (high) quite he gave us. App didn’t work, repeatedly trying to close account and it’s not working! ### 1/5 — Scams *2024-11-15, version 10.6.2* Seem to be lots of illegitimate “trades people” on here. He done a great job cleaned up afterwards and was very reasonable price . It’s free, no fee charged. I think to make more popular they have to change its name and look of it App icon. I am sure it will be very popular soon. I was able to download it just by chance as its icon was not appealing to me. ### 5/5 — Bathroom taps and pipes under sink replaced *2024-08-15* Jamie has just completed work replacing taps and pipes underneath sink. He was very knowledgeable, professional and efficient. I would have no hesitation re-hiring Jamie for any future plumbing work. ### 2/5 — Hard to use and to get builders *2026-05-09* I find it a bit hard to have to choose a category when 1) I know nothing about construction and 2) the job I have fits under 3 or 4 of them.
