The product was great in the beginning and I was amazed at its capabilities. I started my car while I was 3000 miles away. Fast forward, I started encountering frequent malfunctions with the device to completely not working after I had a replacement part installed due to the old part no longer working because it was running on 3G or something like that. So I needed to upgrade a part in the device. Let me add that was the first time in my life paying for a replacement part that I did not cause any defect to the part. Then I had to pay the same company I purchased the starter from initially to install the replacement part. I have called Customer Support a few times with the same issue, the device fails to start my vehicle. I have gotten responses such as its your car battery that’s causing, let me see if I can start your car from my end, oh I am looking at your system now and everything looks fine; you need to have the device serviced. I never had to do that before the replacement part. I asked for a refund because the device stopped working a month after I renewed my subscription. I was told NO because whomever I spoke to at Customer Support said they are not the manufacturer. I had a new battery installed and still my remote starter does not work. Cannot afford to keep going to have it serviced when this was not my issue to start with. This problem has caused a significant inconvenience to me especially during really cold day in Chicago. I am no tech or engineer but common sense is telling me that the paid replacement part sent to me is the issue. I reached out to customer service and basically got the answer “nothing we can do”. Sometimes it will start my car in winter and then when I go to start again it only turns my lights on which drains my battery completely. Got the starter in the fall and almost every morning since winter started the app won’t connect to the vehicle and hence I can’t start the vehicle. They may get back to you in a week and there is no way to report a problem on the app without getting an error. ### 1/5 — Won’t take payment for renewal and website doesn’t work *2025-12-22, version 4.4.14* Trying to renew the subscription and it keeps declining my cards. All of them. Tried to log in via web browser and it gets stuck on the login page. In the middle of the coldest week so far. The first year I had it, it would hardly ever work to start my car the app just freezes. I emailed them and they updated something and it worked fine for a few months. But I’ve noticed every time I start my car it honks which is at 5am.. and struggles to start the car when it’s not even that cold out. There have also been many times it just unlocks my doors!! Which is a huge safety concern. Maybe because I had an after market remote starter installed but it’s worked great for the last 5 years for me. I was hesitant on getting this in my vehicle but after taking a chance on it, I don’t regret it one single minute. If you keep your phone device up to date, you won’t have any issues. I have iPhone 14 plus and MyCar works flawlessly with my 2021 Mazda 3 sport. Best money I ever spent. I don’t have any problems with it whatsoever. The app has come a long way since then and is working flawless now in 2022. Every now and then you still might experience short term connection issues. That 98% of the time will sort its self out, within a few minutes. I’m giving this product 5 stars because even in Canada’s brutally cold winters this car/truck starter and app has worked consistently everyday for months in -30 or colder!. I’ve been fortunate with having no problems at all. I use it daily especially on days from past week -30 to -40. Wonderful Canadian weather. Problems that others are experiencing may have been faulty installs. If you’re having problems with the app, maybe try closing the app more often and restarting your devices. I enjoy this products and features. Yearly subscription is very cheap compared to competitors. ### 5/5 — Very Happy...get it professionally installed. *2021-04-09, version 4.3.1* I tried to install it myself and was about to bang my head into a wall. So what I did was I took my Fortin and MyCar device to a car stereo installer and well, works perfect ever since. I wish they would add an iOS widget and Siri Shortcuts. That would make this device perfect! I lock my keys in my car in a lot of the times on purpose and just lock it and unlock it with the app. ### 5/5 — MPC remote start and Smartphone App *2021-03-09, version 4.3.1* It was a pretty seamless install, once you do your research and all your prep the install goes very easy. There are numerous YouTube install videos on the product, my suggestion is to watch a coyol of them and then go through the instructions. My car is a Toyota 2015 Corolla, and the only hard thing was cutting the TPMS wire and tapping in the white/red and white/green wires. Kudos to MPC for creating a remote start system for the DYIer! ### 5/5 — Latest software killed all functionality *2021-03-04, version 4.3.1* This app is great when it works. Unfortunately a software update came through that killed the functionality of the telematic device. (Feb 2021) Get a fix please!!! Update: contacted product support and they were able to resolve the software update that was pushed to the telematic device. App was not the issue but good customer service was able to resolve the issue.
