MyCoast allows anybody to quickly submit photos of coastal events, such as storm damage or king tides, to state agencies. Use our app to snap a photo, pinpoint your location and upload it to the mycoast.org server. We were at a different beach. I didn’t see where you could change the name. I thought it automatically picked up on where you were. So they deleted his work that he did. I have nothing to show for him and his volunteer work for those nine hours for him to get his black belt. ### 4/5 — New Jersey Needs Categories *2023-03-26* MyCoastNJ could use additional categories. Some possibles: Photographs can be focused on dunes, fences, roadways, etc left vulnerable by flooding. Or reverse flow flooding through storm drains. Or overwhelmed culverts with water topping a roadway. Or seawalls, jetties, sandbars, other structures. Or vulnerable residential or commercial buildings. I've noticed that other states have different selections. There should be a key explaining the dot colors on the MyCoast map. The map should have the option to open full screen. I still think you should reconsider the title and purpose of Places I Love. It should target areas that flood but aren't flooded at the time. Extreme low tides provide useful images of the seafloor, for example. Damaged dune fence or sand on a roadway from a recent tidal surge is an aftermath photo, not a flooding shot. It might prompt more activity. I use the app regularly and find it easy to use. I certainly see its potential. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! Sorry about the difficulty accessing the menu icon. We've fixed this in the latest version. We're not grabbing compass direction yet, but we've been looking into it! ### 3/5 — Needs Improvements *2022-11-28, version 4.0.51* I've been using this app for several months and thought I'd comment. The cute light blue wavy icon in the left corner refuses to open the pulldown menu until I've clicked it a dozen times. I suspect it needs an unreasonable amount of time to prepare itself. It's also in a difficult spot on my iPhone. I would recommend that rather than Places I Love, you frame this category as reference photos for areas that flood but aren't flooded at the time of the photo. I think of these are Before pictures from which to compare the flooded spots. It's unclear to me whether the system captures directionality. It would be useful to know the compass direction, if available. ### 2/5 — Could be a great app *2022-11-25* So many more tidal stations are available in New Jersey (and elsewhere), with real time and past observations - not just predictions. Also, navigation around the app is clumsy and to get back ‘home’ requires you to close the app and reopen it. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback and ideas! We've fixed the menu icon. It broke with the introduction of the notch/dynamic island phones and took a bit to sort out. We're currently gathering data from all the NOAA tide stations we can access. We're looking into other sources, but limited to what others have set up to share.
