## What is MycoLogic?

MycoLogic is a game about how fungi actually work.

You forage for real mycological concepts, learn what each one means, and work out how they connect to one another. Every connection you understand grows a living mycelial network — a map of what you know, drawn as the organism itself.

Discover → Learn → Connect → Grow

TWENTY-FIVE ILLUSTRATED CONCEPT CARDS
Every concept is a real thing, described accurately and illustrated by hand: spores and hyphae, mycorrhizae and fairy rings, the volva at the base of an Amanita, the ring left on a stipe by a torn veil. Find them, study them, master them.

CHALLENGES ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS, NOT FLASHCARDS
The interesting question is not what a stipe is called. It is why a stipe exists — because raising the gills into moving air carries spores further. Ten kinds of challenge ask how concepts relate to one another: name the connection between two of them, find what a pair has in common, put a life cycle in order, or spot the one that does not belong.

A NETWORK THAT GROWS
Discovering a concept grows a thread outward from something you already know, and a new node forms where that thread arrives. Open the app after a session and your world looks different.

FIELD NOTES
Record your own observations, freeform or attached to a concept. They stay on your device.

ORACLE MODE
A second way in, kept deliberately apart from the science: the MycOracle card deck, hosted inside MycoLogic. Shuffle, draw one card or three, turn each over for its reflection, and keep a journal. It is contemplative rather than scientific, and the app says so wherever it appears. Oracle Mode counts draws and journal entries anonymously so we can see which cards people return to; what you write in the journal never leaves your device.

SCIENCE YOU CAN TRUST
Every concept carries an explicit evidence level. Where a term is cultural or marketing language rather than established mycology — "adaptogens", for instance — the app says so plainly, and never uses it as a correct answer.

NO DARK PATTERNS
No streaks to break, no timers, no currency that expires. No advertising, no account, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. Wrong answers cost nothing and always show the explanation, because the explanation is the point.

WORKS OFFLINE
Every concept and every illustration is included in the download. The learning game never needs a connection. Oracle Mode works offline too, and sends its anonymous counts only when one is available.

A NOTE ON SAFETY
MycoLogic is a learning game, not an identification guide, and it gives no foraging, edibility, or medical advice. Never decide whether a wild fungus is safe to eat based on this or any other app.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-18

ORACLE MODE
MycoLogic now hosts the MycOracle card deck as a separate mode, reached from the Grow screen. Shuffle, draw one card or three, turn each over for its reflection, and keep a journal. It is kept apart from the science and marked as reflective rather than factual.

Oracle Mode counts draws and journal entries anonymously so we can see which cards people come back to. What you write in the journal stays on your device and is never sent. The details are in Settings › Your data and in the privacy policy.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-09

A great deal more to answer, and several fixes.

CHALLENGES
The question pool has grown from around 440 to over 1,400, and there are two new kinds. "Which Is True?" gives you four statements about your network and asks which one holds. "The Odd Connection" asks which concept is not linked to another. Both are about how concepts relate rather than what they are called.

Twenty-five concepts also gained relationships they were missing... the veil and the ring it leaves behind, why a cap shelters the gills, what the stipe is actually doing when a mushroom leans toward light.

DAILY DISCOVERY
The daily challenge now genuinely changes from day to day. It had been drawing from a very small set of questions and repeating itself quickly.

FIXES
- Answering two challenges in quick succession could discard the first answer. It no longer can.
- Re-opening a concept page no longer keeps paying out nutrients.
- Today's concept can no longer be picked up without actually claiming it.
- Opening a concept by link no longer reveals one you have not discovered.

SETTINGS
Field notes can now be deleted on their own, separately from resetting progress, so you can clear what you have written without losing your discoveries — or keep your writing while starting the collection again.

Also updated to the latest Expo SDK 57 patch releases.
