## What is MyCryptFS Mobile?

MyCryptFS - Encrypted Folder Access, Privacy for Files

Companion app for MyCryptFS on Mac - browse and read your encrypted folders on the go.

MyCryptFS lets you open your encrypted gocryptfs folders on your mobile device. Files stay encrypted at rest and are decrypted only when you access them - browsing works just like any other folder. Engineered in Germany.

§ How it works

Unlock with your password. Browse normally. Lock the folder - and every file becomes unreadable again, instantly. Your data never sits exposed. Both file contents and file names are encrypted - nothing visible without your password. No cloud sync, no third-party servers — your encryption keys never leave your device.

§ Key features

  - Read encrypted folders directly on a mobile device
  - File and folder name encryption: names are hidden from anyone without your password
  - Browse multiple encrypted folders independently
  - Works with Dropbox, Resilio Sync or any Files-compatible provider - your sync service sees only encrypted data, never your actual files

§ Privacy where it matters

A lost phone or a breached cloud account shouldn't expose your tax returns, medical history, or legal documents. If their servers are breached, or subpoenaed - unencrypted documents are exposed. With MyCryptFS, those files are unreadable without your password - to anyone, including your Cloud sync provider.

§ Security

Encryption is powered by gocryptfs, a battle-tested and audited open-source encrypted overlay filesystem using AES-256-GCM. Your encrypted data is cross-platform and portable - files are not held hostage by a proprietary format.
Zero network activity. No analytics, no telemetry, no cloud backend. Encryption stays on your device, where it belongs.
