## What is MyLife?

MyLife is a life journal that writes itself, and it never leaves your phone.

With your permission, MyLife listens during the day, turns speech into text on the device, and lays each day out as an article: what you said, the notes you typed, the voice memos you left and the photos you took, in the order they happened. Every morning the day before is written up: a title, a few lines, the highlights, the people and places, and the things you said you would do.

YOU DECIDE HOW IT LISTENS
Off for life: MyLife never opens the microphone on its own. Write your journal by hand with notes, photos and voice memos.
Minimal: it records only when you tap Record.
Always On: it listens through the day until you pause or stop.
Recording state is always visible: an indicator on every screen and your phone's own microphone indicator. Silence is never stored. And when something is private, "Forget the last 30 minutes" removes the audio, the transcript and its place in memory, immediately and for good.

EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE
There is no account and no server. Speech is transcribed on the device by Whisper, OpenAI's open-source speech model, running through whisper.cpp. Summaries are written on the device too, and every highlight points to its moment. Nothing you record or write is sent anywhere, ever.

A WRITING MODEL, IF YOU WANT ONE
Out of the box, summaries are assembled from your own sentences, so nothing is invented. On iPhones with at least 6 GB of memory you can also download Qwen 3.5, an open-source language model (1.3 GB, once). It then writes each day's summary and the answers in Ask in plain sentences, on the phone, from your entries alone. Every highlight and answer still points to its moment, and you can edit a summary or have it written again.

A DAY, NOT A LIST
Each day is an article, not a pile of recordings. Moments become readable prose with the raw transcript one tap away. Quiet stretches fold away. Add a note or a photo between two moments and the story reflows around it. Photos land at the time they were taken.

PHOTOGRAPHS
Take a photo straight into today, or bring one in from your library. Say the caption out loud instead of typing it: MyLife transcribes it on the phone and deletes the recording as soon as it has. Every day then leads with one of its photos, chosen for you or pinned by you. Photos are copied into the app's own storage with their location data stripped.

YOU ARE THE AUTHOR
Every entry can be edited, moved or deleted, and every summary and title rewritten. Deleted entries wait 30 days in Trash. Edits to an entry have an undo and a version history.

ASK YOUR MEMORY
"When is the plumber coming?" "What did Priya say about Thursday?" Every answer shows the exact moment it came from, with its date and time, and tapping it opens that day right there. When the journal doesn't have the answer, MyLife says so instead of guessing.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
- No account, no server, no analytics, no ads, no training on your data.
- Raw audio is deleted 30 days after transcription by default; choose 7, 30 or 90 days, keep it, or delete it right after transcription.
- Export everything as JSON or Markdown. Delete everything with one typed confirmation.
- App lock with Face ID or your passcode.

CALM
No streaks. No guilt. At most one quiet notification a day: "Your Monday is written."

HOME SCREEN AND LOCK SCREEN
Widgets show today at a glance: the moments you have captured so far, and the day's story once it is written. Text on the Lock Screen is off by default, because anyone holding your phone can read it without unlocking.

RECORDING OTHERS
Always On can capture other people's voices. Laws on recording conversations vary; in many places everyone must agree first. MyLife shows a visible indicator, pauses in one tap and asks you to get consent where the law requires it. MyLife is for adults 18 and over.

MyLife is a journal, not a medical or mental-health product.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-15

New in 1.3: watch your voice note being written. Stop recording and the words appear on the page by hand, as MyLife hears them, then settle into print when the note is saved. Recordings made through the day show the same live writing in Today. All of it happens on this phone: no audio, no words and no photos ever leave it.

The recording controls and the recording pill now use the glass look of the latest iOS.

Since 1.2: transcripts read the way you meant them — the ums, stutters and false starts come out and the punctuation goes in, while every other word stays exactly as you said it. The raw transcript is always kept, one tap away. Take a photo straight into your day, from the camera or your library, and say the caption out loud instead of typing it. Each day leads with its photo, and you can choose which one it is.

Also since 1.0: an optional writing model. On iPhones with at least 6 GB of memory you can download Qwen 3.5, an open-source language model, from Me › Writing model (1.3 GB, once). It writes your daily summaries and the answers in Ask in plain sentences, on your phone, from your entries alone. Every highlight and answer still points to its moment, and nothing is sent anywhere. Without it, MyLife works just as before.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-13

Transcripts read the way you meant them: the ums, stutters and false starts come out and the punctuation goes in, while every other word stays exactly as you said it. The raw transcript is always kept, one tap away.

Fixed: voice notes were coming back as "No speech was heard" because speech timings were read in the wrong unit.

New in 1.2: take a photo straight into your day, from the camera or your library. Say the caption out loud instead of typing it — MyLife listens, writes it down on this phone, and deletes the recording as soon as it has. Each day now leads with its photo, and you can choose which one it is.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-12
