## What is MyLines?

The MyLines® app is a tool that assists actors in memorizing their lines. It presents the script in a way that shows the lines of the actor's role separate from those of the other roles. It helps to minimize the need to have a second person help with the lines. The MyLines app works with text-based scripts that are imported into the app through the website. PLEASE NOTE that PDFs and image-based scripts MUST be converted to TEXT in order to work with the MyLines app. Many scripts/shows are becoming available each day. Check http://stagepro.mylines.com/AvailableShows.aspx for the latest list of available shows.

In addition to viewing the script, MyLines allows you to hear the script using your device’s Text-to-Speech capability. You can hear your own lines, or your cue lines, or both. You may also record your lines yourself and play them back.

Go to http://www.mylines.com/Screens.aspx to see a sample of how a script is presented.

### 5/5 — Easy to use and one of the oldest and best.

*2024-12-30*

I’ve used MyLines for more than a decade and it’s been my go-to system for learning lines quickly and easily. It took some time to figure out how to import (what format, etc.) but then after I had a master file to use as a model, I find it easy. In the early days, I had a lot of emails to the support team and response was quick, detailed and always kept responding until I fixed my issue. I haven’t used the other features, but as an actor, the memorization part is perfect. I can bookmark problematic sections and go to them quickly with hand bookmark labels that make sense to me. Super great to use while waiting or have moments of spare time. Makes learning quick!

### 1/5 — No pricing disclosures

*2023-05-08*

The free iOS app is limited to 50 lines of script. That isn’t disclosed anywhere. Keep it in mind before you spend all day reformatting your script to conform with their strict requirements on your pc.

### 2/5 — App has not been updated in years; no sound for IOS 15

*2022-08-28*

I liked this app for years. But I recently found for iPhone and iPad running IOS 15 no sound plays. You can still load the script and it has the other functionality but won’t play TTS.

### 5/5 — Great way to learn lines

*2022-02-28*

It is often a challenge to learn lines especially in a long script with many actors. MyLines offers ways to filter out the scenes and characters. You can learn the script by scene, role or line. There is voice capacity. Highlighting is a great option. As a director it has been a great tool to offer to my actors who struggle to learn lines. See my write up of Stage pro as well because that is another great app and I give BIG kudos to the tech support.

### 5/5 — Game Changer

*2020-07-06*

This app is a true game changer when it comes to ease of use and bang for your buck. If I can use it, anyone can use it. After purchasing, you simply select your script and voila! You can highlight your lines, edit your lines, hide your lines all with a quick tap. Your highlighted script goes anywhere you go on your phone. It is so convenient and much easier than recording an entire play as I’ve had to do with other line learning apps. MyLines is the best! You won’t be sorry!!

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2019-11-19*

I was looking for something to help Masons learn Ritual and have spent a week developing the ritual and uploading this.

The support received has been far better than I could have ever expected for a £1.99 app.

This app does what it says it does and in my opinion for what I was looking for, it’s very good.

Sure, things good be developed further but for £1.99 it’s outstanding.

Thanks Randy for the outstanding support.

### 2/5 — Clunky UI; needs some tweaks for better usage

*2019-05-12*

Just used this to rehearse my lines for an audition by myself. I only had two pages of dialog, but they were from a screenshot, so I had to input them manually over the existing script. I used the voice to text of my iPad however, so it didn’t take long.

After figuring out the controls, and found the best way was to hide my lines and use TTS to play the cues. The pause/resume button is too small, and often I would tap it, but the TTS playback continued - very frustrating. It would be nice to have an “auto pause” after each TTS cue, and then simply have the button to tap to resume once you have recited your own line(s).

Haven’t tried logging in to upload a script. Can’t imagine having to use this UI for a whole script, but it worked for me for this audition.

### 1/5 — Can’t Sign In

*2019-05-07*

I’ve tried so many times to log in, I can’t. The app will not let me. I’ve deleted it, tried a new email, confirmed it, but nothing. Every time I try to log into the app, it brings up the pop-up and will not let me sign into my account. I can access it through Google, just not the app.

**Developer response:** Sorry for the delay. Just noticed this post. If you still are having trouble please email info@mylines.com if you need more information on how to correct the log in issue.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time with this app

*2019-01-02*

Seriously, it’s the worst. I just wasted two hours of my life.

**Developer response:** Sorry that you had a bad experience with the app. We are constantly making improvements and it appears that you wanted to use a PDF version of your script which is not supported by the MyLines app

### 5/5 — Quirky app that is my go-to for years now

*2018-10-20*

In terms of functionality for learning lines, this app is perfect. Gives you lots of options helps you at each stage of memorization. There is a huge learning curve to the interface, yes. And it force closes, yes (although the force closing is very predictable and I’ve never lost any work to it, so I’ve gotten used to it as just that one part where it force closes). But this app has become an indispensable tool of mine. Also I once contacted the developers about somehow only being able to download the free version from the App Store on a new device even though I own the paid version - they were responsive, helpful, easy-going and lovely.
