## What is myMerlin™?

The Abbott Insertable Cardiac Monitor (ICM) is a slim profile device which continuously monitors your heart rhythm and automatically records events of interest as configured by your doctor. The myMerlin™ app securely and proactively transmits information per a schedule set by your doctor. The app’s intuitive user-friendly interface allows you to record symptomatic events, view past and upcoming transmissions and helps you stay connected with your doctor. This makes it easier for your healthcare provider to obtain information about your heart’s rhythm. Some ICM device models include the ability for the device monitoring settings to be updated remotely by a healthcare provider.

This app will only function once paired with an Abbott Insertable Cardiac Monitor, an implantable device available via prescription only.

THE APP DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY HEALTH SERVICES OR MEDICAL ADVICE. IF YOU SUSPECT YOU MAY HAVE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, YOU SHOULD SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION FROM LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES OR YOUR HEALTHCARE PROVIDER.

## Key features

- Continuous heart rhythm monitoring
- Automatic event recording
- Symptomatic event logging
- View past and upcoming transmissions
- Secure data transmission to doctor
- Remote monitoring setting updates (device dependent)

### 1/5 — No sign of life in the app to know if it has been working

*2026-06-08, version 2.1.0*

Updated: can’t even get the app to get past the logo screen today! $10k surgery to get an ILR, and then everything depends on this lousy app to get the data from it. Or not. Clinic calling me telling me they not getting the data.

How often should the mymerlin app show that it is interacting with the ILR? You can see the history list is blank even though it says it will show clinic transmissions.
I would assume that means when the app transmits data to the clinic, but who now’s. No way for me to tell.

Lousy UI design to give no way to show it is properly linked and sending the data my physician wants.

Makes me think I need to waste a bunch of time on the phone with the clinic, or their tech support, neither of which probably can answer any real questions, then waiting for a callback for who knows how long from the clinic that will inevitably come when I am busy or can’t take the call.

This lack of proper communication from the app and reassurance of proper operation is so inconsiderate of the patient.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against them for causing unnecessary anxiety, anguish, and distress to the patients.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2026-06-01, version 2.1.0*

Just junk. Doesn’t connect can’t find the device serial number and birthdate say invalid. Glad I got my chest cut open to have sub standard junk put in that I had to pay an arm and leg for.

### 1/5 — Somewhat lacking

*2026-05-29, version 2.1.0*

There are a VERY limited array of symptoms that can be entered during an episode. Those offered are very often not very descriptive of the symptoms being experienced. If there was an additional block to enter a more accurate description of the episode it would go a very long way in improving this app.
Also it can take up to twenty minutes for the app to download the information from the implant. During this time you cannot use the phone or the app will reset and not record the episode.

### 1/5 — Crashes and disappears

*2026-05-04, version 2.1.0*

This app is terrible at best, as is your OR REP who misled me when I agreed to have the device implanted.
This app froze and I was unable to get it to function at all, so I tried to delete the app, which I did… but I was unable to reinstall it. Apparently it still exists but the icon disappeared when I deleted the app and I can’t download it but I can open it from the App Store.
No time to continue!!!!!

### 3/5 — Could use improvement

*2026-04-10, version 2.1.0*

I try to keep the app up and running in the background, and I check it often to make sure it still is. However- for the last week or two it’s been closing randomly many times through the day, which is frustrating.

### 1/5 — Device Is Not Useful

*2026-03-26, version 2.1.0*

This device and app are as useless as you can ever possibly imagine as a patient. Sure, good on you for making the money to monitor the actual time we die, but this device and app are totally useless to us as patients.

### 1/5 — App triggers improper

*2026-03-04, version 2.1.0*

The design of this app is terrible. You’re supposed to make sure it’s up and running each night so that it can record your loop recorder results and send them to the monitoring team.
It is so easy to accidentally hit the “Record Symptoms” button when you’re swiping the app closed. Then there’s no way to cancel out of that app. So it sends a report to your cardiologist and then they have to respond that they didn’t find anything wrong.

I have accidentally sent recorded symptoms multiple times!!

During the night when I open my phone to check the time or something and the Merlin app is already open - if you flick up the Merlin app to close it off, this action often hits the “Record Symptoms” button and then there’s no way to back out. This is a terrible, terrible design.
When these false symptoms are sent to the reviewing agency, I’ll either get a call or an email saying that they reviewed my symptoms and no problems were found. The nurse there tells me this happens quite often.

I have an idea for you. I’ll hire a real UI agency to review the app and make suggestions and put it through review and focus test groups before putting this out into the public .

Please, please change this and have a human factors. Person review your app before you release it!

Mark

### 5/5 — Helpful

App has worked as needed. The new device has a much longer battery so excited to get upgraded to my new monitor.
