### 3/5 — Could use improvement

*2026-04-10, version 2.1.0*

I try to keep the app up and running in the background, and I check it often to make sure it still is. However- for the last week or two it’s been closing randomly many times through the day, which is frustrating.

### 2/5 — Could be better

*2025-12-05, version 2.1.0*

I’ve had this now for a few months and agree with a lot of the reviews. Even my Dr said there’s no point in recording an event bc they are going to see it. If there was a way to record what I’m doing when an event occurs would be helpful.

My biggest complaint however, is that the app is constantly closing itself. I have to check multiple times a day and make sure it’s still running. It looks like it is open in the background when I look at all running apps but when I click on it, I find out it’s actually not running. The last thing I wanted was to babysit an app.

### 3/5 — App not currently working

*2025-11-25, version 2.1.0*

Hello, it’s 11/24/25 and app seems to be down. It’s worked perfectly until now. Thank you

### 2/5 — Seems remarkably lazy

*2025-11-14, version 2.1.0*

73 yo male with afib history, I have only two weeks experience so far. An Achilles heel is the app’s requirement that the user relaunch the app after the iPhone is turned off (eg, battery runs out). Also, I don’t find a way to access all user reviews can only see one! That one concerned a tragic case of a limitation of the app to turn on when needed. C’mon, Abbott people!

### 2/5 — Inadequate Options

*2025-08-25, version 2.1.0*

For the first two years, the app was okay. However, when manually entering symptoms, the options to select symptoms is limited and inadequate. There needs to be an “other” option to allow for logging of cardiac symptoms not listed. Also, there needs to be an option to indicate activity during the episode, so that doctors may link cause and effect.

Very recently, the ability to manually enter symptoms symptoms to send to my provider has disappeared. This is stupid. If I’m having any kind of symptoms, I need to be able to log them so my provider can review and evaluate. I will look for a buffet app to monitor my Loop Recorder.

### 2/5 — No record button

*2025-08-01, version 2.1.0*

It would be useful if it actually had a way to RECORD when an event happened

### 1/5 — “Internet Connection Problem”

*2025-07-31, version 2.1.0*

Twice in a row this garbage app has done this. Claiming there is a connection problem when there is none. Every complaint has been answered by some bot. The developers should be ashamed. They are playing with people’s health! Instead of giving a useless complaint number to an automated set up do something to fix your app!

### 1/5 — App triggers improper

*2025-07-22*

They finally improved the app by taking the sound off when it starts, which was so annoying. Now the major problem is that when you go to close the application You sweep up from the bottom of the screen to the top For each individual app. When you get to the Merlin app at the bottom of the screen, that’s right where the record symptoms.. So sometimes that gets pressed when you’re sweeping up to close an app.
When that button gets pressed accidentally, it takes you to a symptom page there’s no way of canceling. So now it’s going to send a report no matter what you do. This is a terrible design.

First, the record symptom button should be nowhere near the bottom Where are on iPhones? It’s easy to press accidentally when trying to close the app or put it in the background.

Secondly, if you do get to the symptom page, there needs to be a way of
Canceling

I’ve had multiple reports sent to my doctors office I’ve not sent in any symptoms intentionally it’s just the app. Please fix it.

### 1/5 — Don’t do it.

*2025-07-01, version 2.1.0*

My 4 year old daughter suffered from unknown cardiac issues, after 3 random cardiac arrests with no known cause the doctors begged me to put this “loop recorder” in her so it can constantly monitor her heart so if she has another random cardiac arrest they can see what her heart did before, during, and after. Well it happened, but this time the cardiac arrest took her life, but in the darkness came the light that she had this loop recorder in her and at least I could find out what happened, low and behold it recorded only when her heart stopped, not before, and not after! You know why???? Because I didn’t push the button on the stupid app to record while I was trying to keep her alive until the ambulance got to my home, turns out they only had it set to record at certain times while in side so only less then 60 and more than 150 unless you push the app. Just a way for the medical field to rob people of more money.

### 1/5 — I cannot believe…

*2025-03-26, version 2.0.1*

I went through the trauma of having this inserted in my chest and BOTH times the arrhythmia my cardio is trying to catch, the “connection is lost,” on this device.

### 1/5 — Turn off the sound let me see what is recorded

*2025-03-25, version 2.0.1*

The sound at app startup is beyond annoying - especially since it can’t be silenced with the mute switch on my phone. I found this out in a meeting when my phone was muted and I had a symptom my MD wanted me to report, I swept up for the app and I discovered that the app had closed and since my phone was muted I just opened the app to discover to my horror and embarrassment that the start sound ignores the mute switch. Totally unacceptable - had I known this I would’ve asked my doctor for a different brand of implant.

Also, the fact that I cannot see what the implant is recording seems like a violation of my right to know and since the only way I can find out what’s been recorded is a doctor visit it gives the impression that Abbott created away for Drs to increase traffic in their offices.

### 1/5 — Unable to pair since last iOS update

*2025-03-20, version 2.0.1*

The app was ok for a while but now, since the latest iOS update 18.3.2I’m unable to get it to pair with my loop recorder.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No sign of life in the app to know if it has been working

*2026-06-08, version 2.1.0*

Updated: can’t even get the app to get past the logo screen today! $10k surgery to get an ILR, and then everything depends on this lousy app to get the data from it. Or not. Clinic calling me telling me they not getting the data.

How often should the mymerlin app show that it is interacting with the ILR? You can see the history list is blank even though it says it will show clinic transmissions.
I would assume that means when the app transmits data to the clinic, but who now’s. No way for me to tell.

Lousy UI design to give no way to show it is properly linked and sending the data my physician wants.

Makes me think I need to waste a bunch of time on the phone with the clinic, or their tech support, neither of which probably can answer any real questions, then waiting for a callback for who knows how long from the clinic that will inevitably come when I am busy or can’t take the call.

This lack of proper communication from the app and reassurance of proper operation is so inconsiderate of the patient.

There needs to be a class action lawsuit against them for causing unnecessary anxiety, anguish, and distress to the patients.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2026-06-01, version 2.1.0*

Just junk. Doesn’t connect can’t find the device serial number and birthdate say invalid. Glad I got my chest cut open to have sub standard junk put in that I had to pay an arm and leg for.

### 1/5 — Somewhat lacking

*2026-05-29, version 2.1.0*

There are a VERY limited array of symptoms that can be entered during an episode. Those offered are very often not very descriptive of the symptoms being experienced. If there was an additional block to enter a more accurate description of the episode it would go a very long way in improving this app.
Also it can take up to twenty minutes for the app to download the information from the implant. During this time you cannot use the phone or the app will reset and not record the episode.

### 1/5 — Crashes and disappears

*2026-05-04, version 2.1.0*

This app is terrible at best, as is your OR REP who misled me when I agreed to have the device implanted.
This app froze and I was unable to get it to function at all, so I tried to delete the app, which I did… but I was unable to reinstall it. Apparently it still exists but the icon disappeared when I deleted the app and I can’t download it but I can open it from the App Store.
No time to continue!!!!!

### 1/5 — Device Is Not Useful

*2026-03-26, version 2.1.0*

This device and app are as useless as you can ever possibly imagine as a patient. Sure, good on you for making the money to monitor the actual time we die, but this device and app are totally useless to us as patients.

### 1/5 — App triggers improper

*2026-03-04, version 2.1.0*

The design of this app is terrible. You’re supposed to make sure it’s up and running each night so that it can record your loop recorder results and send them to the monitoring team.
It is so easy to accidentally hit the “Record Symptoms” button when you’re swiping the app closed. Then there’s no way to cancel out of that app. So it sends a report to your cardiologist and then they have to respond that they didn’t find anything wrong.

I have accidentally sent recorded symptoms multiple times!!

During the night when I open my phone to check the time or something and the Merlin app is already open - if you flick up the Merlin app to close it off, this action often hits the “Record Symptoms” button and then there’s no way to back out. This is a terrible, terrible design.
When these false symptoms are sent to the reviewing agency, I’ll either get a call or an email saying that they reviewed my symptoms and no problems were found. The nurse there tells me this happens quite often.

I have an idea for you. I’ll hire a real UI agency to review the app and make suggestions and put it through review and focus test groups before putting this out into the public .

Please, please change this and have a human factors. Person review your app before you release it!

Mark

### 1/5 — Doesn’t have patient information

*2025-08-25, version 2.1.0*

I’m trying to pair the app and it doesn’t recognize my DOB and SN to begin.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2026-02-15, version 2.1.0*

App has worked as needed. The new device has a much longer battery so excited to get upgraded to my new monitor.

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2025-12-03, version 2.1.0*

Easy to use, no issues at all. Been a great help

### 5/5 — Unacceptable

*2025-06-27, version 2.1.0*

The app is slow to identify the device. The pairing number doesn’t appear and the numerical box disappears much too quickly. The support team phone is always busy and taken long to get help.

### 5/5 — Update: The Abbot Marketing Team Got it Wrong.

*2025-05-10, version 2.1.0*

Update:
I’m changing my 1 star review all the way to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finally. After a nearly a two year wait… Yeah!! With a recent update the incredibly annoying startup jingle is gone!!
I thank the Abbott programmers and especially my still slumbering wife thanks you!

Original Review:
Oh, the app - yeah it works ok, but it’s the incredibly annoying and unavoidable start up jingle that always wakes up my wife - but only at the wrong time. Even Customer Service acknowledges many other users have also complained… but apparently still no joy. Abbot, how about offering your customers the option to turn off the start up sound entirely?! Now that would bring this 1 star review up to 4.5 stars, for sure.

### 5/5 — It works

*2025-04-26, version 2.1.0*

I’m still alive!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-10-04, version 2.0.1*

I got it installed today and the nurse was so nice helping me with the app! I think it will work great!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2024-09-20, version 2.0.1*

It’s easy for me to record my symptoms for my doctor to see. No issues, helpful app.

### 5/5 — Updates Have Made a Huge Difference!

*2020-06-16, version 1.0.1003*

This app was already a pretty cool way to get heart rhythm info to the doc, but I’ve noticed a big difference in connectivity and ease of use since the update. User friendly, smooth transmissions, and clear info on status. A tip is to not force close your app (they recommend you don’t but sometimes it’s easy to forget). I haven’t noticed any hiccups in connection.

### 4/5 — Watch app

*2025-03-26, version 2.0.1*

It would be really nice if mymerlin had a watch app that could be used to record and submit events without the phone being present.

The phone app does record and submit the information at night and does very good with the night time transmissions.

### 4/5 — Background color

*2025-02-10, version 2.0.1*

I wish I could change the background color to black it is so bright
