## What is mypacing.app?

mypacing grew out of a very personal experience: my wife lives with Long COVID and PEM (Post-Exertional Malaise) — the condition where even small efforts can trigger days-long setbacks. This app is what came out of trying to make her daily exertion limit tangible.

WHAT THE APP DOES

mypacing connects automatically to Apple Health and reads resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep, and activity — without you having to export or upload anything yourself. It works just as well without a wearable: a short daily check-in (how you're feeling, sleep quality, optionally resting heart rate) is enough as a basis.

From this, mypacing calculates your exertion battery every day — an estimate of how much is realistically manageable today, compared with your own average over the past six months. A calendar shows how you've been doing over the month at a glance; marking crash days helps reveal your personal warning-sign pattern over time.

For everyday use: a home screen/lock screen widget with your current status, an optional Face ID lock for the app, and sign-in with your Apple Account.

WHAT mypacing IS NOT

mypacing is not a medical device, does not provide a diagnosis, and does not replace medical advice. The exertion battery is a statistical estimate, not a prediction — it can't reliably announce crashes in advance, only make patterns visible over time. Your own sense of your body always remains the most important signal. For health concerns, please consult a medical professional.

PRIVACY

Health data is especially sensitive (Art. 9 GDPR). mypacing only processes it with your explicit consent, encrypted and for a specific purpose. You can view and permanently delete everything at any time. Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with insurers, employers, or authorities. If you'd like, you can voluntarily contribute anonymized data toward shared research on exertion limits — this always stays optional.

FREE

mypacing is a private passion project, free forever, funded at most through voluntary donations. No subscription, no ads, no selling your data.

MORE ON THE WEBSITE

At mypacing.app you'll also find a guided stand test for your doctor's appointment, support for additional wearables (Garmin, Oura, Withings, Polar, and others), and a knowledge base on pacing, PEM, and POTS.

Stay at your own pace.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.5 — 2026-08-19

Bugfixes

### 1.1.4 — 2026-08-18

Smaller but noticeable improvements since the last big rebuild — mainly around the check-in, diagnoses and translation.

NEW

Language: German or English — choose right at first launch, and change it anytime in the Account tab.
Permissions (notifications, health data) are now requested right at first launch instead of being tucked away in the Account tab.
A short intro per screen the first time you see it.
New "What you live with" card in your account: add diagnoses directly in the app now, including Post-Sepsis Syndrome.
Add your own symptoms on the Today screen, not just from the suggested list.
Sleep quality is now always visible in the check-in, just like cognitive load.
"My precursors" is easier to read now, and tapped chips stay clearly highlighted.
Numbers and dates now follow the language you chose in the app, not your device's system language.
A calmer new tile design on Guide, Knowledge and Support.
Sign-in, registration and "forgot password" in the redesigned card layout.

FIXED

History now tells you specifically why a load failed.
Push notifications without jargon: "crash alerts" instead of "push token".
Remove a symptom with a visible cross instead of a hidden swipe gesture.
Accidental taps can be undone after a quick confirmation.
A symptom you removed by mistake actually stays gone now.
A rejected deletion now shows as a dialog instead of a small red line of text.
The account screen scrolls reliably again, and the crash buttons clearly show what currently applies.
An expired-login message no longer shows up by mistake while your session is still valid.
Legal texts are now fully available in English.
Removed the setting for external research sharing, since it was no longer used.

This version requires iOS 17.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-08-16

Bug fixes & optimizations

### 1.1.2 — 2026-08-14

Bugfixes and Improvements

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-14

This is the biggest step since launch: almost everything that used to be an embedded web page is now a real app screen.

NEW

• Native instead of web view — Today, History, Patterns, Knowledge, What helps others, Guide, FAQ, Doctor's report, Stand test, Support and Legal. Everything responds right away, scrolls normally and looks the same throughout.
• Dark mode. It follows your system setting, and you can also set it by hand in the Account tab.
• The app is now fully available in English.
• Measure pulse and HRV with the camera, no wearable needed — and considerably more accurate over the past weeks: 60 frames per second, locked focus, controlled flash, RMSSD as the result.
• Stand test based on the NASA Lean Test, with results. For everyone who finds standing up difficult.
• The doctor's report and the pattern report can be shared and printed as PDF — with proper page breaks, not as a cut-off screenshot.
• History has become its own tab and now also shows activities from Apple Health.
• The check-in has grown: symptoms and "head & contact" are part of it now, and you can still change it throughout the day.
• Health profile right at sign-up instead of later in your account.
• Share link in the Account tab: pass on how you are doing without handing over your login.
• The widget now shows the recommendation itself, and there is a medium size.
• The Today screen has become calmer and puts the important things first.

FIXED

• Push errors stayed on screen and could not be dismissed.
• Many texts showed ae, oe and ue instead of proper umlauts.
• Navigation disappeared in some places, and the share link could be triggered by accident.
- "Time above your limit" now in minutes per day, right on the Today screen — and you can set your limit there too.
- A note when your last few weeks suggest a different limit than the one you have set. It is only ever adjusted downwards, never up: a limit that drifts up allows more exactly when less is tolerable.

This version requires iOS 17.
