### 4/5 — Good game just needs longer bonus chapter

*2024-12-17*

I really liked the game and the puzzles were challenging but not too different. The only issue I have is that I think the Bonus chapter could have been a bit longer

### 3/5 — Don’t waste your money

*2024-03-18, version 1.0.0*

The hidden objects puzzles are a little frustrating. Items to be found can be touch many times without responding and after selecting the hint button, then it will release it. Puzzles tend to be very dark which makes it difficult to see the hidden objects. I should have stopped at the free trial of this game.

### 4/5 — No Guide

*2024-01-06, version 1.0.0*

I thought I paid for the guide. But when I select it, it brings me to Big Fish Games, but there is no guide. Lots of guides for other games but not this one

### 3/5 — Visuals too dark, hard to understand

*2022-08-28, version 1.0.0*

I love these big fish games HOGs, but I find some of them hard to follow and understand. Also, when the scenes are visually too dark to make out the details, I don’t know where to click. With the good ones, it’s obvious what the next step is and if I’ve completed an area or scene through the storytelling, but this one feels like they were trying to let the player decide if they’re finished.. but for me, that doesn’t work. It’s good.. but not for me.

### 3/5 — Mystery Case Files: Revenent

*2022-01-06, version 1.0.0*

Would love to write a review. I used my Apple gift card and it took the money out of my account. Then I went to play, and it says there is no account found. This happened with all three games I just paid for. I will no longer by Big Fish games. Rip off!

### 2/5 — Good game until the Bonus...

*2021-01-07, version 1.0.0*

I’m giving this game a two star because it was fun to play. The mini games were entertaining, but not too hard.
Everything was good until the Bonus game. It was very short and the story line did not make any sense at all. It didn’t go along to the original game.
Another thing that I didn’t like was the Extras as part of the Collector’s Edition. There was pretty much nothing to do if you collected all the card, leaves, and the morphing objects. You didn’t see other things you usually saw with the Collector’s Edition.

### 4/5 — One annoyance

*2020-12-15, version 1.0.0*

I have only recently started playing hidden object game and I’ve done a fair few of them already and enjoyed them all....but (and it’s an annoying but), when doing some HOP’s there one fundamental flaw. When playing the ones developed in the US there are some items that are called something I’ve never heard of! For instance, a ‘clothespin’ is called a ‘clothes peg’ here so I have no clue what I’m looking for. There are many instances like that that I’ve come across and it’s annoying.
Other than that, great game and I’d recommend it to anyone.

### 3/5 — Maybe I’m just not a fan of the series

*2020-12-10, version 1.0.0*

I honestly couldn’t wait for it to be over.

### 3/5 — Violence against women

*2020-05-26, version 1.0.0*

I love Big Fish games, but have noticed more games that have violence against women. I get pretty uncomfortable during such scenes. Don’t get me wrong, I love blood, guts and some inherent violence with games, but just not when a woman is assaulted.....unless it’s by another woman:)

### 4/5 — Good

*2020-04-17, version 1.0.0*

Some stuff too small

### 3/5 — Dull and no map

*2020-04-16, version 1.0.0*

I don’t really play these for the plot & in this case it’s just as well!
I’m not impressed by the games either; they’re an unfortunate combination of difficult but uninteresting and the instructions are very poor.

### 3/5 — Blah

*2020-02-24, version 1.0.0*

Don't bother with this game. I stopped halfway through from boredom. I've played some interesting HO games by Big Fish -- this isn't one of them. The game features the most boring hidden object puzzles -- ever. This is their specialty, so there's no excuse for this. They most definitely know how to make great HO puzzles so it's beyond irritating when quality is inconsistent from game to game. It was $7 and not worth it. I'm being very critical but when a company is this big, they have the resources and the talent to produce consistent quality. What else ... the story line is contradictory to itself; if a game is marketed as scary, it should be scary. This one might start out with potential but it fades (literally, the color fades, music too) into blah ASAP.

### 3/5 — Too glitchy and not intuitive

*2019-03-29, version 1.0.0*

Skips must be clicked at least three times; HOP objects aren't hot-spotted precisely. Sorry it wasn't a better game as I liked the series.

### 4/5 — Disappointed 😔

*2018-11-09, version 1.0.0*

I was enjoying this game until about halfway through when it turned into a puzzle and HOS marathon!! Yes, the graphics are lovely and the puzzles are interesting but there were just too many of them. The storyline became lost and by the end I wondered what it had all been about! Don't think I'll bother with the bonus if it's a confusing as the main game! Pity as it has potential☹️

### 4/5 — Weird game

*2018-07-23, version 1.0.0*

I am not sure about this game, it started out okay then became weird. Even the bonus game ended strangely and not sure what that had to do with the main game. Normally a bonus game either follows on or precedes the main game. This time I could see no bearing to the game itself. Puzzles were okay but not brilliant. All in all a game not worth the full price.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Angry

*2024-08-09, version 1.0.0*

I have always LOVED the Big Fish Mystery Case Files games…..several years ago, they were great. This one has a major glitch in Chapter 2: MainStreet…..the HOP at the guitar case! The rest music note is unobtainable ! I paid $7 for a game can’t go any further on.! It won’t give me the full HOP! I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game and started over from the beginning. Big Fish needs to go back to the way the adventure games USED TO BE! Original Ravenhurst, Madame Fate! Please make those available on iPad these new games are way too obtuse.

### 1/5 — Couldn’t play

*2021-05-14, version 1.0.0*

Downloaded and deleted 3 times. I’m playing on iPhone 12. The opening scene is displayed so large you can’t see or do anything.

### 1/5 — Cake51

*2020-12-26, version 1.0.0*

Normally agree with you all.... but this game I absolutely hate......
unfortunately I bought it before playing it.... worst game I have ever played...couldn’t even give it half a star..... 😐but looks like I have to ......

### 1/5 — Missing Bonus Game

*2020-01-12, version 1.0.0*

I’ve completed the game which I generally liked. However at the end there is no option to play the bonus game which is frustrating as I paid full price for this game. Further tech support has been no help with this.

### 1/5 — Bummed

*2020-01-05, version 1.0.0*

I have played all the MCF games since they were only on PC, and I’ve really enjoyed them all. I played this one and of course purchased it because I figured there was a lot of game left to go. But not long after I purchased it, the game was already over! What a massive disappointment. Not only was the story hard to follow and boring AF, but the game mechanics were off- I couldn’t place objects because it kept pulling up the screen, the hints button was difficult to use, and many of the “clues” were completely irrelevant. Worst of all the games in the series. 1/10, would not recommend. It makes me very sad because I have never even made a bad review about any game on iOS or otherwise, but this was so bad, it called for it.

### 1/5 — How old is this game?

*2018-07-09, version 1.0.0*

This game seem to be VERY old. The scenes are dark. The HO scenes even darker. The HO scenes are repeated, again and again.

I was so bored and frustrated with this game that I didn’t even finish the free selection.

I seriously wouldn’t waste the space on my iPad putting in this game. Just awful!

### 1/5 — The Revenant’s Hunt

*2018-07-07, version 1.0.0*

While I mostly rate the Big Fish games that I purchase, which is well into the 100s, and throughout many years, I rarely review them. However, this game definitely deserves a review!

The Revenant’s Hunt is a part of the Mystery Case Files, a series made by Eipex. There are some of the usual touches that I have come to prefer now, such as, a journal, teleportation, custom settings, as well as, a few collectible-type components (albeit, they’re not exactly “collectibles”, but rather “seek and find”). With that said, I must say that this is, by far, one of the worst games in this series... and quite possibly by Eipex!

From the beginning to the end, I felt as though the devs were in a hurry to release “something”, and call it a HOAG. It weighs much too heavily on HO and mini games, in which nearly every HO scene is revisited, and very little in the way of adventure. There was not enough sensical interaction with the characters and scenes to make this a solid, or enjoyable game. The words “confusion” and “confusing” seem to be a common factor among some reviews, and I could not agree more! In fact, had I not hastily purchased this game, I would have deleted it within the first 10 minutes of gameplay.

My conclusion: “The Revenant’s Hunt” is a complete waste of time, and it’s definitely not worth buying; even if, it were on sale for .99¢.
My advice: play before you pay.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2018-07-06, version 1.0.0*

The last few offerings from Big Fish have been terrible. Story line is laughable and the whole game had a “thrown together” feel. Not up to standards by any means.

### 2/5 — San

*2024-09-27, version 1.0.0*

This game has no rhyme. Unable to figure out that to do without hitting HINT constantly

### 2/5 — I’m deleting it. Free trial better than full, game - either too easy or too buggy.

*2021-01-27*

UPDATE January 2021: Replayed. Many of the mini-games don’t respond properly. very buggy this time around. I had to skip many in order to just move in with the game. The quality of the puzzles in this game instantly deteriorated once I got past the free trial.
Most of the mini-games/ puzzles have been on the level of a 5-year old child. Changing the difficulty level doesn’t make it any harder as the puzzles are ridiculously easy and simply irritating. Long, involved set-ups and then a 2-second solve.

I came to expect more of Eipix games but this is a deal-breaker for me.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Game still works in 2026!

*2026-04-02, version 1.0.0*

Love this classic theme by Big Fish. Best news is it still is fully functional and displays properly in 2026. Other games run into visual issues or become unplayable. This one remains safe!

### 5/5 — Creepy and challenging

*2023-08-30, version 1.0.0*

This is the second game of this series I’ve played. The HOPS are quite challenging right from the start. While I don’t quite buy the Queen of England angle (& hope in subsequent games this proves a long story arc that we keep learning more about), I do like the fact that the Master Detective character is gender-neutral.
The music is quite evocative of the game’s plot and setting.

### 5/5 — Fun yet challenging

*2021-06-24, version 1.0.0*

Great graphics, story, challenging yet fun! Not impossible wish there was a bonus but so much in game, not necessary

### 5/5 — Wow

*2021-01-06, version 1.0.0*

This was a well made game. Hard puzzles. Collectables were not the same in each page. I really enjoyed it

### 5/5 — Fantastic game

*2020-02-18, version 1.0.0*

Highly recommend to all. Lots of fun puzzles and an excellent storyline with a surprising twist in the bonus game.

### 5/5 — Revenants

*2020-01-18, version 1.0.0*

Challenging puzzles

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2019-09-08, version 1.0.0*

Love this game. Eipix rarely disappoints. Wish the graphics were more crisp and bright tho.

### 5/5 — Great job Eipix!

*2019-01-27, version 1.0.0*

I am so happy that Eipix is back on form! I used to look forward to their releases, then their games became so trite and unfulfilling. Now they’re back, baby! I love the super puzzles, and there were several in this game. I do wish they would make them a bit harder, like in Fate’s Carnival, but I’m still happy with them. Instead of morphing objects to find in hops, you collect fragments of a love letter. The story was exciting and well done. Puzzles were unique and ranged from easy to medium. Hops were varied. Real rating of 4.5 bumped up to 5 because I just really enjoyed it.

### 5/5 — Still my favorite series

*2018-07-11, version 1.0.0*

This was one of the first series I ever played. It was great then and it is great now. The interactive puzzles are a major part of that!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2018-07-09, version 1.0.0*

I love it! Want more games exactly like it!
