Every morning while we drink our coffee we play a hidden object game. This is our quality time before the day begins. So, needless to say we go through quite a bit of games, and spend quite a bit of money on them. At first I wasn't too keen on the idea of buying before trying, but since it was only $3.99 I figured what the heck. We enjoyed this game. I especially liked the variety of puzzles and hidden object scenes. They were not your typical word/find. Some were matching pairs, putting one object to get to the next, etc. overall this was one of the best games we have played in a while. Also, it was longer than most. Someone mentioned the map being hard to click on and I have to agree. Several times after clicking 3 or 4 times we just traveled the old fashioned way. LOL! But it was not that big of a deal. But because of the trip ups I can only give it 4 Stars. I felt the characters in the story were a bit hollow.. And the mini games were kind of lame... The game felt rushed to me, as if the producers were in too much of a hurry to produce the game and so just threw in a bunch of cheap back and forth constantly looking for some meager item to unlock almost everything.. You are supposed to swipe sideways to avoid collision, but nothing moved at all. ### 4/5 — Mystery of the Ancients: Deadly Cold by LynxMinx *2015-10-28, version 1.0.0* This was a terrific game but alas I can't give it a full 5 stars! First the good. The game was lengthy with a decently long bonus adventure. Lots of locations to unlock, and loading was instantaneous between them. There was of course a strategy guide, a non-spoiler hint system and regularly updated objectives. The graphics were beautiful but wintry; I actually felt cold while playing, lol! The cut-scenes were mesmerizing. There was a teleport map with active tasks labeled (if you chose it). Inventory was labeled, and there were plus objects! Some collectibles; don't care. The HO scenes were varied: word lists, using one object to unlock another, silhouettes, pairing. There were many interesting puzzles and games, and they were of varying difficulty, so something for everyone. Lots to do in each location. Also (like games by Mad Head and EIPIX) there were books to manipulate and unlock to learn more of the story. It definitely kept my interest! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the map was a bit finicky, and I had to keep tapping on it, some of the games were a bit non-responsive, and item placement was occasionally off. Your recently married best friend, Kiara, has invited you to her town of Baumholder at the same time a summer blizzard sweeps down upon the town. Upon your arrival, all hell breaks loose starting with multiple explosions resulting from a mysterious ice tower, which causes ice to cover everything in its path and unleashes rampaging ice giants. Thank God that our ditzy friend with the annoying voice was whisked off by these monsters or I would have handed her over myself. Victor is one handsome dude though. Here's an observation: If this town is supposed to be located in the USA, then someone please tell me where it is so I can book my next vacation there since it looks like a 17th century town somewhere in Europe. Just an observation. The graphics are beautiful with many shades of blue. The "ice" theme adds an appropriate element to the atmosphere since we are upon winter soon ourselves. You have the ability to customize your settings. The inventory is labeled, and some items require assembly. The map is terrific! It has fast teleport and notes actions or objectives to be done. You have a diary, which is only goal oriented and does not record the facts and events in progress in text form. The puzzles were on the simple side, with most requiring one or two steps to complete the solution. Some were unique, such as where you open up a book in your inventory by placing a gem on its cover to unlock it. Then a story begins along with playing mini games such as, jigsaw, find the difference, etc. The HOS were varied and quite fun. You had progressive silhouettes, which are my favorites, where you find the items by shapes and then place them back into the scene. You are collecting 6 statuettes of characters and 25 hares in the locations, which vary in size and are blended well into the scenes. The extras are the usual stuff - nothing special. This is a very simple game that we can all enjoy by sitting on our sofa, wrapped in a blanket by the fireplace. I gave this game a nice four stars. By the way, I just acquired a new device with updated iOS, so I needed to change my user name.
