### 5/5 — Great app for my 6 year old!

*2015-12-23*

This app is great! My son is in 1st grade and this game is perfect for him. It helped him with his sight words and now it is helping him great time with his reading levels. He loves it and mommy loves that he spends his screen time learning!

### 5/5 — Best word app ever

*2015-12-23*

This is an amazing word game for all ages. Great word ranges for different levels. We can try and guess the word or listen to the word then try and spell it. Mother of two, and I can't stop playing with the youngest. He is learning how to read and what a fun way to do so. This is a great app for additional extra curriculum activity, along with its sister app Mystery Math Town. The developer has done great in the educational apps department and I can't wait to see what they do next

### 5/5 — Fun to play with my daughter

*2015-12-20*

This game is a little advanced for my 5 year old to play on her own but it is fun to play together. She likes collecting the letters & we can review the sight words she's learning in school.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2015-09-11, version 1.1*

This app makes learning spelling fun. My daughter loves going through the different buildings while learning her spelling words. And I love that you can add your own word list.

### 5/5 — ❤️ it!!!

*2015-09-08, version 1.1*

What a precious app developed by Artgig! If your child needs help with spelling words, this is the app for you. You can customize the spelling list to add your own word in the app. Your child will be learning and they will never know it. It is a must have app..... You will ❤️ it!

### 5/5 — Cute customizable game

*2015-09-08, version 1.1*

My child really enjoyed being able to customize their person and name at the start of the game. It's easy to use and gives clues if you sit on one screen to long or choose the wrong letter to often. Lots of fun voices in the game as well. A bit above my child's level, I expected much smaller easier sight words for the start of level one but useable with the hints.

### 5/5 — Another brilliant app from Artgig!

*2015-09-08*

The new update to Mystery Word Town has turned a great app into a truly fabulous one! Like all apps from artgig it is a sure fire winner for children both at home and in school! The update not only now lets you make your own custom word lists but also you’re able to record your voice as well! Genius!
As a teacher in a special school I would say it’s a must have app in any classroom. Mystery Word Town is one of those unique apps that are not only educational but also great fun!

### 5/5 — Great Update!

*2015-09-05, version 1.1*

What a great update! Artgig Studios has really outdone itself this time. I love being able to add my own words to this app. I have actually added a list of German words to help my son learn some German before we travel this summer. Helps him learn and me, too, as I put the words in with proper pronunciation and spelling. I also appreciate the hints provided if you pick the wrong letter. The app gives you 2 chances to find the right letter to complete the word before giving you the hint (a shadow of the letter needed in the proper space). Thanks, Artgig, for making spelling fun!

### 5/5 — Spelling Made Fun

*2015-09-04, version 1.1*

Mystery Word Town is a fun and creative way to learn how to spell. You also have to option to add your own words in, like your child's word list or spelling words.
Mystery Word Town makes word skills and memorization fun. The best way for a child to learn
As the child progresses so does the levels.
The animations are fun for all. Defiantly an educational app that whole family can enjoy
We also love Mystery Math from Artgig Studio.

### 5/5 — Great intro to sight words

*2015-09-02, version 1.1*

Update: The new word recording feature is great. My son cracks up when I add random silly words and voices to his list of regular ones.

My 4yo isn’t reading or spelling yet, but he knows his letters so he’s able to play with help from the hints (or mom and dad). He loves going from room to room exploring and looking for gold. From my perspective, the game gives him some early exposure to common sight words, which is great.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Music sound not working at all . Useless .

*2023-06-14*

Please refund me

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm sorry you're having an issue with the sound. The problem is likely due to your device settings, and it's easy to correct. Please email us at info@artgigapps.com, and we'll share instructions.

### 1/5 — Can’t add custom words

*2022-10-16*

The app says you can customise the list of spellings, however you can only choose from very few words. I’ve been trying to add “Environment” but apparently the only word I can add beginning with EN is “Enough” and that is what I’ve had with this app! Total waste of money

**Developer response:** I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble adding a custom word to your spelling list. It sounds like you may be missing the required step of recording audio for your custom word because it's not a word from the included lists. Please send us an email to info@artgigapps.com and we'll try to help!

### 1/5 — Short game

*2021-08-11*

This game was short. Our child completed it in an hour. It’s definitely not $4 worth of content.

### 1/5 — Boring

*2020-07-17*

It’s boring

### 1/5 — No sound

*2018-09-28*

This app would probably be good if it had sound. Not very helpful for spelling if no one can hear what word to spell...

**Developer response:** Sorry you’re having trouble. We occasionally hear from users who experience this issue.
Nine times out of ten it's the result of their iPad/iPhone side switch settings getting inadvertently changed (and other apps, including some of ours, override the sound setting to make matters confusing). Please send us an email to info@artgigapps.com and we’ll do our best to fix the problem.

### 1/5 — Avoid

*2017-11-21*

Since downloading this app, have had some kind of virus on my phone , it's impossible to erase and took over my phone's memory!

**Developer response:** Hi, This is the first we're hearing of an issue like this with any of our apps. It's quite likely an unfortunate coincidence that you are having an issue with with your phone. Please contact info@artgigapps.com and we will do our best to help resolve the problem.

### 2/5 — Guess the missing letter game, not spelling

*2022-12-14*

This app might be appropriate for a beginner reader/speller, but it was much too easy for my second grader. You only need to fill in 1-3 missing letters from a word, not spell the entire word. My daughter finished the whole thing in 1 1/2 evenings. I know you can add your own words, but what’s the point if you don’t actually have to spell the whole word? This should really be stated in the description. It’s a fill in the missing letter game, not a spelling game. The graphics are great, but I bought this to help my daughter with spelling (she tests below grade level, so it’s not a case of my kid just being too advanced)

### 4/5 — good for 2nd grade and up

*2015-09-15, version 1.1*

This program is great for 2nd grade and up. My son loves the concept of the game that is easy but its not really made for new learners. Your not able to customize more simple words and it doesnt teach the child the words. It lets them guess each word but doesnt teach them to learn it and it goes so fast when you pick the right letter. Graphics are great and keep it interestering.

### 4/5 — Very cute

*2015-09-11, version 1.1*

This looks like a very cute app. It definitely is the next step to helping my daughter read and a spell . I'm hoping it will keep my ADHD son engaged.

### 4/5 — Very Engaging!

*2015-09-10*

My 11 year old daughter who has autism and ADHD was engaged for a good 20 minutes exploring Mystery Word Town and spelling words to unlock doors and windows, gather gold and catching bad guys! She didn't even realize she was practicing spelling! And I was impressed by how many words she knew! I explored the app myself as well and discovered that there are 3 levels and all of them are have customizable word lists (with an audio feature that can be recorded also) that can be created by an adult, or even the student themselves. I like the audio feature also that can be turned on or off. The only thing that caused a slight problem was I accidently went into a building that had already been completed and couldn't get back to the home screen or any other features. So I had to delete the app and reinstall it. If it wasn't for that, Mystery Word Town, would've gotten 5 stars!

### 5/5 — Make More Spelling Games!

*2021-02-26*

This app is amazing and so needed. It allows you to add your own words and record them too. I would love to see more levels added or more spelling Apps from your company. My children found it engaging although they are older than its target audience.

### 5/5 — Very Engaging

*2020-04-28*

Both grandkids have a great deal of trouble spelling. They are ages 10 and 7. The 10 year old is at the upper range for this game EXCEPT he can enter words of his own choice. He has chosen to play this game over all the others he has available! This is a HUGE win. The 7 year old finds the preset word list most appropriate. Bring on additional spelling games!

**Developer response:** Sure, we can help. This problem is usually the result of the iPad sound getting turned off. Some apps override the sound settings so it can appear as if sound is on when it is not. Please contact info@artgigapps.com and we can provide more information.

### 5/5 — 6 year old loves it!

*2020-02-04*

My 6 year old absolutely loves the game. It has some challenging words for him and others are easy; so I think he’s the perfect age for it.

We let him play iPad while we take a shower, and the last 3 days, it’s the only one he’s played!!

### 5/5 — Steadfast Tom is wrong

*2019-03-07*

He or she is so wrong. Something was probably wrong with the iPad or the sound was off.

### 5/5 — Great tech support!

*2016-09-15*

I had not enabled my iPhone microphone for Mystery Word Town and so I went to the website and left a message. I was bummed because I couldn't use the app I had just purchased to study spelling words with my son. Matthew K. Responded to me almost immediately to help troubleshoot. He asked one question and diagnosed the problem. I was up and running after one quick setting fix. The game is great, my son loves it and The tech support response is AMAZING! I may have to purchase the math game now!

### 5/5 — This is what our preschooler said (verbatim)

*2016-03-15*

"I love this game! It is challenging. I love it because I need it to learn to write words."

(And Mom loves it, too, because it teaches in a fun way, not only spelling and reading, but problem solving, memory skill, and deduction. Highly recommend!)

### 5/5 — My nephew loves art gig apps!!

*2016-01-15*

I can't express how much My nephew and niece love playing these art gig apps. He's so excited about this new mystery word...!!! Genius!!

### 5/5 — Best spelling app ever

*2016-01-09*

The built in words are great, but you can add your own words too. And it's set up so you can't put in repeats. Because it's leveled, it will grow with my two young girls. It's fun and challenging and keeps my 6 year old engaged in learning to spell the endless lists of sight words that come home in elementary school.

### 5/5 — Fun spelling game

*2015-12-25*

My son really likes the game & the characters.

### 5/5 — Another winner

*2015-12-23*

There are so many edu apps in the App Store that it's hard to get excited for them any more. I have started judging them by whether or not my kids like them. I had to take my son to the doctor the other day. While waiting for the doctor to come in I noticed that he was playing Mystery Word town. He had even typed in his own set of words to spell. He was choosing to play a spelling game without being forced to play. That tells me that this app is not only good but great! It's easy to set up & customizable.
