### 5/5 — It will make you love the game

*2024-09-30*

I played the physical copy for the first time at Gen Con and backed it immediately. It’s quickly become one of my favorite games when the app became available. The factions are balanced, the visuals jump off the screen and the developer and the IV Team are always available for help. Looking forward to future updates.

### 5/5 — Super Fun!

*2024-09-23*

If you take the time to learn the basic rules, it will be worth it. One of my favorite competitive games. Considering the board game is $60, this app version is a steal.

### 5/5 — Modern “strategy” at its finest

*2024-09-14*

By definition is more tactical than strategic, which is a good thing! This head-to-head chess-like game is full of tactical decisions. I’m constantly amazed at how much board games have evolved in the last 20 yrs and this game is taking the hobby to a higher level. I won the physical game and this app gives me even more opportunity to be challenge my tactical thinking.

### 5/5 — Brain Burner on the Go!

*2024-09-09*

A great introduction to abstract games, perfect for casual pass and play, as well as creating rivalries in ranked! Perfect pay model too!

### 5/5 — The Best Mobile Game Ever

*2024-09-06*

I can sit and play this game over and over! It’s so strategic and fun. Mobile game of the year in my books.

### 5/5 — Amazing!!

*2024-09-05*

This is such a fun game! The app design and interface is incredible.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why oh why

*2024-12-21*

Interested in this because I always wanted the physical game but knew my gaming group wouldn’t be willing interested. Big issue for me was I couldn’t get the movement to work in the tutorial. Either it was broken or too hard wired to an exact set of screen inputs that I wasn’t doing. So I gave up, offloaded it and won’t be bothering again. In some ways it was a shame but I’m also not convinced the colouration of the board works with the tomb keeper blending in. The size of the physical piece in the physical game gets past that issue.

### 1/5 — It will make you hate the game

*2024-09-27*

LOVE the physical game. Thought I would download the app. I’ve played many times against people who are definitely better at the game then me. I have yet to be given the opportunity to go first. Decay on the Zombie faction does not work. The clutter rules are different then the board game.—like distracting tomekeeper into those spaces. It feels very unbalanced and has left a bad taste in my mouth for my new favorite game. SO DISAPPOINTED

**Developer response:** Hello,

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the app. If you're a new player, the matchmaking system may not yet have had enough time to accurately gauge your skill level, which could explain why you may have encountered tougher opponents. However, based on the data we've gathered from thousands of games, the win ratio between the first and second player is extremely close to 50%, and the first player is always chosen randomly.

Regarding the Zombies' Decay ability, remember to use it while holding your opponent's Mythic on your Decay space to activate it. I can also assure you that the clutter rules in the app are fully aligned with the physical version of the game, and nothing has been altered. The mechanic of distracting the Tomekeeper works exactly the same as in the board game.

We're working hard to ensure the game remains balanced and fair, so we're sorry to hear you're disappointed. We hope you'll consider giving the app another chance.

### 2/5 — I want to love it…

*2025-01-21*

Let me start by saying the physical game is one of my favorite 2-player games. Period. But everything that is slick and frenetic about that game falls flat here. Analysis paralysis reigns supreme. Turns take far too long. And the relatively small player base (including people who are beyond pros and only care about ELO-hopping) make this less fun. Combine that with needing to know about the behind the scenes development of the game to be “better” aka have more knowledge for a leg up make this game sad to me. As a long-time beta tester with many games under my belt, I basically don’t play this anymore. I wish it well, but think it needs significant improvements to be widely adopted. And despite making suggestions, there’s no appetite for it.

### 4/5 — Love it but…

*2024-09-23*

Overall love the game but I think I’d play it more and even buy the characters if it had a computer/bot to play against. Don’t get me wrong I like that there isn’t a rush to it but sometimes I’d like to crank out a few games to get used to a faction and not wait a day.

### 4/5 — Amazing game, hard to get into

*2024-09-17*

The game is amazing, and I love it. But please please please add an AI that can be used for practice, if nothing else. Playing with random strangers on the internet is intimidating for some of us, and trying to learn a game by taking one turn every 4-8 hours (or more) is not conducive to learning the strategies. Rated four stars because it’s amazing; will gladly go to 5 with addition of an AI opponent.

### 4/5 — Fantastic Adaptation

*2024-09-05*

An absolutely fantastic adaptation of the IV Games board game of the same name. I’ve been playing with close friends throughout the beta and we just can’t stop!

### 5/5 — Mind blowingly awesome

*2026-03-13*

This game/puzzle ruleset is amazing and the app polish is off the charts! They're adding an AI but in the meantime you can learn each faction really well with the "Triple Catch" puzzles. I recommend sticking to one faction until you've mastered all the puzzles. One you realize that pieces frequently can (and need to) move on top of each other, and that many of the abilities work diagonally, things should really click. Puzzles that took me a day and blew my mind now take a few minutes, so stick with it. What an amazing find this is!!!

### 5/5 — Better than chess

*2025-04-30*

I acknowledge that it is a provocative title for my review. However, for those of you who enjoy chess for its tactical nature, I believe Mythic Mischief is clearly superior in that regard.

Of course, Chess will always be better strategically. That said, I simply don’t have the time to study all the chess moves and counter-moves, etc. MM gives me the same sensation as chess without the need to go deep in studying varying strategies. I can just look at the MM board for 20 min, come up with something clever and unexpected, and move on. It has all the sparks of chess and more since every faction is wonderfully asymmetrical.

This game is a delight and its developer has been consistently improving it. I highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Favorite game app

*2025-01-22*

This game is amazing! Keeps my brain active lol. I learned the physical game first, but in my opinion, the app made learning the rules of each faction much easier. I really like that you can take up to 24 hrs to make a move, which allows me to play whenever I get a free moment (though I’m sure my opponents don’t appreciate it 😹). This makes it much more flexible so I actually play the game more vs having to block out 30 min of my day to play. I’ve been playing this game every day since I’ve downloaded it!

### 5/5 — What a game!

*2025-01-22*

This is such a fun way to learn and just play Mythic Mischief! I love that you can play with a few factions for free and when you find one you love buy it! If you have gotten bored playing chess this game can easily take over for you!

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Creative Abstract Strategy

*2025-01-22*

Mythic Mischief is a great app adaptation of a great board game! It’s asymmetric abstract strategy with creative and colorful factions. It plays great either locally with pass and play or online

### 5/5 — Great game

*2025-01-22*

I got this during the beta and I have been playing it with my fiancée ever since, both have favorite factions and it’s been some of the most fun we have.

### 5/5 — Asymmetrical Chess

*2025-01-22*

One easy way to describe this game is like asymmetric chess. You have way more to think about as you play different factions. This causes you to think in new ways, because you never know what faction your opponent might choose.

It’s a faster paced game that makes it great app to have, as you don’t have to invest as much time when you take your turns.

Honestly my favorite app, since it helps me keep my mind engaged and focused on problem solving.

### 5/5 — This game has everything!

*2025-01-22*

Great two player strategy game with a playful theme (monster high school library). Each faction has different abilities so it never gets boring. Fantastic music, fun graphics, and an easy to use interface. Give it a week or two to learn and you’ll be having fun!

### 5/5 — The one board game that is better with the app!

*2024-10-23*

Take as much time to think out your turn without any of the pressure of the table getting annoyed at you for taking too long. Plus easily undo your moves and try out different options for your turn before hitting the submit button!

### 5/5 — Just as fun as the board game!

*2024-10-01*

I’ve been a fan of IV for some time now and I could not wait for this to come out. Love it! I’m sure an AI component is in the works but it’s a fantastic game
