It no longer notifies you if there is sound or motion. I’ve tried everything to get the notifications to work including uninstalling and reinstalling and it only pops up this tiny box while you’re actively watching the feed which completely defeats the point. ### 3/5 — Great when it works *2026-08-04, version 1.1.48* I have a B monitor that has a standalone Parent unit with a screen and app access. The Parent unit rarely has issues unless the cameras themselves disconnect for some reason. The app however, has not worked in a week or two. You need to be next to the camera or parent unit to do so. Why? What is the point in a mobile app if you have to be within sight of the hardware? Then all the sudden app stopped giving notifications. Tried to reset the app, the camera. For well over a year there’s been an odd work around where you have to first click on account and then go to camera to see it working. However recently not even that works. It says “can’t connect to your account, try later”. I try to sign out to re sign in but when I click sign out it tells me “unable to sign in”. It’s very frustrating to not be able to view the monitor from the app as that’s one of the main reasons for purchase. ### 1/5 — *Failed to retrieve video* *2026-04-30, version 1.1.48* We’ve had our vtech monitor since 2023 and have been hoping for an update that fixes our issues but we’ve had no luck. The physical monitor is fine if you just want the in-home connection and nothing more. The app is helpful for getting notifications of sound or movement but that’s about it. The quality drops pretty significantly, often. This was a pretty big concern when we had an infant, and we had to carefully watch for breathing. The grain was so bad there was no way to tell. We definitely leaned more on the in-home device, but even that can get kind of grainy sometimes. But our biggest complaint has been the playbacks…or lack thereof. 9/10 times, the playback “failed to retrieve video”. And once you do get one that works, you better hope you were screen recording because if you try to go back it’s gone, unable to retrieve video. If you are relying on this app to record important moments, may the odds be ever in your favor. We have dealt with it for years because we simply don’t have the money to invest in a new setup and the physical monitor is enough at this point. But we would never have purchased this for our infant had we known about these issues beforehand. We have attempted every troubleshooting method over the years, updating when available, full uninstalls/reinstalls, multiple devices, and at this point…it’s just the app. ### 1/5 — Does not connect *2026-04-06, version 1.1.48* Does not work on WiFi, even when band split to just 2.4 ghz. We try to communicate through the camera if needed to soothe them using the microphone button, but only loud static noise is delivered through the camera which terrifies the child. The video playback feature never works either as every time we select a video to watch it mysteriously can’t retrieve the video. All of a sudden I no longer receive any notifications, despite updating the app, restarting my phone, closing the app and opening it again, and checking all the settings on my phone. Please fix this! It was one of the main reasons I used this monitor. Very disappointing. ### 1/5 — App is unreliable *2026-03-22, version 1.1.48* For the monitor to be costly you would expect the quality to be better but instead you get a lost connection all the time, low quality image and the app does not send notifications to your phone at all. It works 50% of time then randomly stops sending notifications for weeks. I’ve reset the system, deleted the app, turned notifications on high alerts, and still nothing. Although my child has snapped the back stopper off and the antenna, the monitor still works like a charm! The monitor allows you to plug it in and turn off the screen light, so you can hear your kids clearly without being kept up by a bright light. Which is perfect for our family. You can add cameras to a monitor or switch monitors and add old cameras onto the new monitor systems. Pretty easy and straight forward as well! I highly recommend, the visual range is fantastic along with the sound quality. The app gives it such a versatile experience. Can turn on and off the nightlight from the app, speak through the 2 way camera, tilt the unit for different angles and more.
