My Naim HDX has Internet radio capability- whyever can the associated iOS app (also from Naim) not play nice with it? ### 4/5 — Works well, but could use some improvements *2018-04-13* I like this app and I think it’s a great way to control the Unitiserve. I think it would be helpful though if they would not wait two years to update the app. I’ve noticed the app frequently fails to connect to the Unitiserve requiring me to reboot the app and unit. Constantly! ### 2/5 — Gute App aber nicht sonderlich Stabil *2016-07-13, version 2.12* Der Funktionsumfang, die Bedienung und die Optik kann man durchaus als Gelungen bezeichnen. Bei der Bedienung gibt diese keine Rätsel auf, eine Anleitung ist im Grund überflüssig, das Sortieren und Editieren der eigenen Musiksammlung geht recht rasch und intuitiv von der Hand, - das ist die Habenseite der hier vorliegenden Version. Wenn es hier etwas zu Kritisieren gibt, dann ist es die Frage warum kann man die Metadaten Die über den PC oder Mac In den Downloadordner des HDX kopiert hat nicht genauso Editieren wie das mit CDs kann die man über das integrierte Cd-Rom Laufwerk des Geräts eingelesen hat? Oder Warum Kann man keine Interpreten selber benennen, sondern nur jene Auswählen die man zuvor schon via CD in das Gerät mit einem anderen Album importiert hat? Schwerer wiegt in jedem Fall aber die mangelhafte Stabilität des Programs! insbesondere beim Erstellen von Playlisten oder dem Importieren von Titel oder Alben in diese kommt es Häufig zu Abstürzen. In einigen Fällen musste Ich Die App sogar komplett Deinstallieren und neu Laden da die automatische Aktualisierung nicht mehr funktioniert Alles in Allem bekam das Programm wegen der Instabilität knapp drei Sterne da die Bedienung recht gelungen war, aber an der Stabilität muss noch dringend gearbeitet werden müsste. Leider habe ich mittlerweile den Eindruck nach mehreren Monaten, das NAIM hier anscheinend recht wenig Interesse an seinem eigenen Produkt hat, welches aber existenziell wichtig für das Bedienen ihrer Hardware ist. Dies und die Tatsache das nach einigen Updates von IOS 9 es mittlerweile noch häufiger zu Fehlern bei den Funktionen der App kommt, zwingt mich dazu die Bewertung auf Zwei Sterne zu Reduzieren und die Empfehlung auszusprechen, eventuell auch andere Hersteller in Sachen Musikserver in die Auswahl miteinzubeziehen. ### 3/5 — Basic *2016-05-28, version 2.12* A bit basic, but it does the job. ### 3/5 — This Was a Great App - but now frustrating experience *2015-07-20, version 2.11* I love my Naim HDX unit The app UI is OK other than inability to add playlists from phone/tablet. The biggest frustration however is the fact that re-launching app from background state, always results in a crash. This is really frustrating when one has a very large library - so following a crash, one has to re-browse to the correct (playing) artist/album/track - before one can stop the play. It's a real pain. ### 3/5 — Playlist problem *2015-06-26, version 2.11* A reasonable app now spoiled as it won't allow me to use playlists any more. On choosing a playlist the only option given is edit, which doesn't work either. Sort out the issue when returning to the app when the ipad wakes up and returns to home screen and then when going back into the naim app sends you to artist list and not the album you are listening to. Itunes it ain't. More editing facilities would be nice ### 3/5 — Needs improvement *2015-03-15* Some nice minor improvements, however, ever since the update, the app crashes often when I open it when trying to access UPNP. Hopefully some stability updates soon. ### 2/5 — Come on Naim! *2014-10-11, version 2.7* A buggy, ugly and out-of-date app that is at considerable odds with the superb quality I expect from Naim. Their new Mu-So product enjoys a more modern, well designed app with thoughtful user interface and better reliability, whilst customers who have invested 20 times as much in their Naim equipment are left with a much poorer experience. Any news of future plans for this app? (NAC 202/NAPSC/HC DR, NAP 200, XPS DR / DAC, UnitiServe, Hi-Line, Powerlines x 3, Fraim). ### 4/5 — Sorting order could use some sorting *2013-06-20* Overall works very well. However 2 odd sorting issues could be improved. First, when sorting by artist it would make more sense to at least have the option of doing so by last name instead of first. Secondly, when sorting by genre, it would make more sense for the secondary sort to be artist name (ideally last, but first would be ok) instead of album title. All the titles starting with the word "A" are listed first. An odd and unnatural way of organizing albums. Hopefully their will be options in the future to get around these issues. ### 4/5 — Naim nServe 2.2 *2011-10-12, version 2.2* This app has come on a long way – I was an early adopter of the UnityServe and sent Naim a long wish list for the nServe app… Everything I asked for is in this version! As well as being a wonderful interface to your music collection, I have found the iPAD version to be a wonderful party ‘duke box’ – simply pass the iPAD/nServe app around - guests can then select a track and ‘Add to play queue’… Wonderful... ### 4/5 — Mr *2011-10-09* Excellent, compehensive and functional. 4.5 stars. Album info needs year issued. Then I'd give it 5/5. ### 4/5 — n-Serve v1.3 *2011-09-27, version 2.2* Revised September 27th 2011 Much improved app following version upgrade. Works well with HDX if you have iPod touch or iPhone. Now includes activation of the embedded digital tuner in the HDX to give all-round performance on this product. (you will first need to download Desk Top Client V1.6 to your unit - free from Naim website) Highly recommended to all users and it is free! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Instabile App *2024-12-15, version 2.12* Die App ist leider so instabil, dass ich inzwischen meinen Naim-Server gar nicht mehr benutzen kann. Auch neu laden der App hilft nicht. Andere Software gibt’s nicht. Den Naim-Server werde ich wohl wegschmeißen. Aber als die App auch noch funktionierte, war sie von der Bedienung leider unterirdisch. Vielleicht versteht Naim etwas von Analogtechnik. Von der Bedienung einer App Naim hat leider keine Ahnung. Es reicht nicht mal für einen Stern. Naim could and should do better. Not worthy of the Naim brand. ### 1/5 — Not useful *2020-02-13, version 2.12* Using this app from an iPhone - when I say using - all I can do is see what’s on my unitiserve and see if it’s connected to the network. I can’t ever seem to be able to play anything using the app - it shows the albums says “playing” nothing happens at the sound end of my system. I never use playlists, so haven’t come across any of those specific issues reported by others. At the moment I have just over 3000 CDs ripped in WAV to my 2TB UnitiServe, and this app. has enabled me to edit all metadata with ease. I use the Naim App for playback, this one for everything else. Go and buy one! ### 5/5 — Great but what about my playlists? *2011-07-02, version 2.1* This is a must have for an HDX owner but the only downside is not being able to access any programmed playlists you still need to access them from the front panel, once the playlist is playing they show on the app so it's halfway there, only a minor thing as otherwise this app delivers.
