## What is Naia?

Naia is a daily news digest in Ukrainian. One issue a day: 10–15 top stories
from Ukraine and the world, each a half-minute read.

WHAT'S INSIDE
• Eight sections: Ukrainian and world politics, economics, science, technology and AI, culture, design, UI/UX.
• The gist in brief — and, separately, why it matters and what follows from it.
• The source and a link to the original on every card, one tap away.

STORIES, NOT ISOLATED HEADLINES
Every item belongs to a story that runs for days or weeks. Under each card is its timeline: what came before and how the story developed. Older items gain new entries as the story moves on.

SIDES OF THE STORY
Who takes part in a story, what each side stands to gain, what it risks or where it stays silent — and the primary sources: statements, documents and posts from the parties themselves.

KNOW WHO IS WRITING
A source passport on every card: what kind of outlet it is, who pays for it, where it is edited and whether a paywall is waiting.

PICK YOUR MOOD
Some days carry too much heavy news. The mood filter keeps only the calm stories or drops the heaviest ones, and brings everything back in one move.

HOW IT WORKS
Every night Naia reads more than thirty publications — from Ukrainska Pravda, Suspilne and Babel to Bloomberg, Nature, The Guardian and MIT Technology Review — picks what matters and retells it in Ukrainian. The selection, the summary and the analysis are produced by AI; a separate step checks every claim against its source and proofreads the language.

ONE NOTIFICATION A DAY
Turn on a reminder for the new issue and pick the hour yourself. One notification a day, never more.

SHARE A CARD
Send a story as an image to Instagram Stories, save it to Photos or share it through any messenger.

NO FEED, NO ACCOUNT
No infinite scroll, no ads, no recommendations, no sign-up. An issue has a beginning and an end. Light and dark appearance follow your iPhone.

PRIVACY
The app collects nothing about you. If you turn notifications on, all that is stored is an anonymous device code and the hour you chose. No tracking, no advertising.

Naia is free.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 0.26.3 — 2026-10-12

A fresh look and more ways to share.

The home screen has come alive: a living bronze background now sits under the header, and the header buttons are made of glass. A story opens by growing straight out of its tile, and swiping back lays the previous card over the current one.

Sharing feels better too. On the share screen you can pick a dark or light card, and the bottom of the image now shows how many sides and primary sources a story has. In Instagram Stories the card sits on the same animated background, in the theme you picked.

Pull the feed down to refresh it: each tile of the logo answers with a light tap, and the threshold ends in a crisp click.

More variety: each issue now carries one story per publication.

On an unfolded iPhone Duo the article sits on the left, with the source passport and the sides of the story on the right.

Plus plenty of fixes: text no longer gets clipped or broken mid-word, the names of the sides line up with the text around them, white corners no longer flash between screens, and on iOS 27 the Ukrainian letters є and ґ are back in headlines.

### 0.20.4 — 2026-10-05

The light theme is now warmer: a soft paper tone instead of pure white and black.

News tiles in the light theme have no border, just a gentle shadow. The background behind an open card is slightly darker so the card stands out. The mood dot in the rubric badge is no longer darker than the badge itself.

Fixed: the source list at the bottom of Settings no longer gets cut off above the screen edge.

### 0.20.1 — 2026-10-01

A new first launch and more stories every day.

Your first look at Naia now comes alive: signals from the sources flow as a fountain of light into a single point. Press and hold the Read button to draw the fountain back, then let go and it fires a beam into today's issue. The move to the news is now smoother.

On iPhone with iOS 26 the Read button is now made of real Liquid Glass.

Want to see the introduction again? Settings now has a Show onboarding button.

Each issue now carries 20 stories instead of 16, drawn from a wider range of outlets. New sources include Kyiv Independent, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia, Radio Svoboda, Al Jazeera, Foreign Policy, 404 Media, AIN.UA, Khmarochos, designboom, Hyperallergic, The Art Newspaper and Literary Hub. A single outlet now appears less often several days in a row.

### 0.18.0 — 2026-09-30

Deeper sides of the story.

A side's card now explains who wins and who loses and why, where a statement came from and whom it serves. To find out, Naia looks beyond the article itself. The outlet a story comes from no longer appears among its sides.

You can now page between sides: markers for every side sit at the bottom of the card, and you switch with a swipe or the arrows. If a card opens below the fold, it scrolls itself into view.

The app is now fully in Ukrainian, including system dialogs such as the notification time picker and the share menu.

UI/UX stories now come at the end of the issue.

### 0.15.0 — 2026-09-28

Who is behind the news.

A story's sides — the people and organisations it is about — are now marked right in its text. Tap the marker next to a name to see their part in the story and what they stand to gain or lose. Those the story touches without naming them get their own line.

Below "Why it matters" you'll now find primary sources: statements, posts and documents from the people involved — where the story actually began.

Also: filter your feed by mood. Press and hold the emoji and pick calm only, without the heaviest, or everything — it applies both in the grid and in cards. In light mode the controls below a card are no longer dark blotches.
