### 2/5 — Your update is terrible

*2024-07-22*

This WAS a great app. Yalls update is confusing and hard to understand. We keep clicking treble clef only and it immediately quizzes my kids on the bass clef. Also, we can barely see the notes because the notes are black against a dark blue background. Please change it back!!

### 2/5 — Can’t see the notes

*2024-05-25*

Sorry, but the black staff on blue background is very hard to see. I can’t find a setting to change this.

### 2/5 — Need help

*2024-02-23*

Hi, I've downloaded this app and the background looks dark and notes are not easy to read. Is there any way to fix that?

### 4/5 — I have a suggestion

*2022-11-22*

Hello Namethatnote. I am a beginning musician and I was wondering if you guys could add a ledger line only mode/staff only modes. This is because while I know the staff notes, I need to work on memorizing the ledger line notes. And the current mode only go up to I think 2 ledger lines above or below the staff. So if you’re taking suggestions, please consider implementing this into your already amazing app. Thank you!

### 4/5 — Great game but needs more levels

*2022-04-25, version 2.0*

This is a brilliant little game and has definitely improved my sight reading. The only reason for my 4*s instead of 5*s is because the jump from beginner to intermediate is quite big and then intermediate to advanced is another big gap. If there were a few levels in between then I'd find this game more motivating and enjoyable. It's easy to feel like I'm not making much progress when I'm scoring 10/10 on beginner but 1/10 on intermediate.

Could you please add some more levels?

### 4/5 — “A title”

*2019-01-04*

Is it just me, or do some of the time signatures in advanced mode not exist?

### 3/5 — Pretty good

*2016-10-01*

Luv the app easy use and fun helps a lot with learning music notes.
I feel like it should give you more time though with showing the answer if you get the note wrong. It doesn't exactly interest me only because it is the same game OVER AND OVER AND Over And Over And over and over..... Anyway, I think it needs something to make it more exciting for people. Otherwise great educational app. I am only giving it three stars though because it isn't something I would highly recommend as it would have to b for someone patient enough to play it constantly.🌟🌟🌟

### 4/5 — Great for my students

*2014-10-22*

I use this for my students to help with note recognition. They love it. I agree about needing a way to track their progress. That is the only reason I gave it a four. Would have given it a 4 1/2 if I could.

### 2/5 — Some Suggestions

*2014-04-25, version 1.3*

Timing is fast and unchangeable from what I can see. I would call myself at least an intermediate performer and composer but the time to take in the note was too fast. If suggest adding an option of speeding up or being able to adjust the speed so that people have the opportunity to improve their recognition time. If I had younger students use this, they would quickly become frustrated and bored.

### 4/5 — Good app

*2014-01-04*

The only reason I gave 4 stars is because you can't turn off the timer. I don't like that it is sort of a "game" where you have to "win" before the time expires. It would be nice to have time to think if I need to and then give the right answer. It would also be nice if it had piano keys to pick the notes from. Other than that it is what I was looking for.

### 4/5 — Great little trainer.

*2013-09-30, version 1.3*

Wouldn't mind an even easier level for noobs, but this app is good.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It’s too dark.

*2024-10-29*

The screen was too dark for me. I wish it was white like in the photos.

### 1/5 — What is this

*2024-06-05*

I downloaded the app to my iPhone. But there is a big orange triangle that t cannot get rid of. Suggestion?

### 1/5 — Poor design

*2024-02-20, version 2.0*

Very difficult to see the note you're supposed to be naming since the backdrop is a giant bass clef that masks the note shown. It's also difficult to see the actual clef indicated because of the poorly selected colour contrast. And, that giant background bass clef. Which also makes you instinctively read the note as a bass clef note.

Maybe helpful without the timer, but there are better apps out there.

### 1/5 — Boring

*2021-03-05*

Hate it It’s so much pressure for the timer I hate it

### 1/5 — Really

*2018-10-16*

I hate it. Always something wrong pls fix. It even told me wrong information??? Why? This should not be a thing if it is completely wrong 😑

### 2/5 — Can improve

*2025-06-30, version 2.0*

Great app, but can barely see the notes. Needs better visibility.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just what I needed!

This just made learning so much more fun. I really appreciate having this app around!

### 5/5 — Great Tool For Learning Notes

*2019-09-09, version 2.0*

So glad I found this! I’m a music teacher and I’ll be recommending this app to my students.

### 5/5 — Beginner friendly

*2018-11-01, version 2.0*

I started learning with this and found it very useful

### 5/5 — Effective

*2018-06-10*

I play this game nearly everyday and I’ve memorized a lot of playing piano or reading music. I’ve memorized key notes on keyboard and to read all of middle c notes. I’ll be practicing the bass notes when I feel ready. However, I love this practice game because it makes it fun to memorize reading music.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2018-05-20*

Really helped with my kids who had a hard time memorizing the notes.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2017-02-17*

I love this app and it is great practice.

### 5/5 — Much Better

*2016-03-23*

Title says it all. This version of Name The Note is much better and 'cleaner' then the pervious patch/update.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2013-12-26, version 1.3*

This is improving my knowledge of the notes on the bass clef and I've only been using it a couple of minutes! Recommended

### 5/5 — Very good

*2013-10-14, version 1.3*

My son downloaded this and has learnt notes very quickly.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for!

*2013-02-21*

I'm returning to the clarinet after a 25 year hiatus, and although my playing technique is surprisingly un-bad, and I have a reasonably good understanding of the rhythm/timing of the various notes, my recognition of notes on the staff is awful. The basic and simple "flashcard" style of this app is just what I was hoping to find.

My only criticism was that notes would often repeat several times during each "quiz", sometimes one right after another. But the developer took care of that with an update!
