### 3/5 — It's okay

*2026-07-15, version 0.1.6*

The app looks nice and it is fun to swipe the names.
However, if you already have a Nameberry account with liked names, it will often ask you to swipe on a name you have already liked and it doesn't import the names you already like onto your liked list. So despite Nameberry's comment to a previous review, it really doesn't take into account the names you've liked in that way. It would be great if the account lists synched.
It is also annoying that you can click on a name you like and see information about similar names, but you can't add them to your list. You also can't just search a name and add it.

### 2/5 — Needs More

*2026-07-08, version 0.1.6*

I wanted to love this app since it is a paid app, but there needs to be more customization. I don’t want to swipe through the weirdest names I’ve never heard of; give us curated lists or themes to choose to swipe within- just like the sections on the website. Idk why the names are all obscure?

### 2/5 — Not What I Expected

*2026-06-28, version 0.1.6*

I love nameberry.com but I was hoping for an app form of the forums

### 2/5 — Must Upgrade

*2026-06-18, version 0.1.6*

I was disappointed to find that the partner feature (i.e. connecting accounts with your spouse) is only available if you upgrade your account to the paid version. If using this app without wanting others’ input, you still only get 50 swipes before you must upgrade. Bummer.

### 3/5 — frustrating paywall

*2026-06-05, version 0.1.6*

this is cute and i love nameberry but only being able to see 50 names before having to pay is insane. having a limit on how many names one can “love” before the paywall would make way more sense

### 4/5 — The app is good but

*2026-06-04, version 0.1.6*

Some of the names are really weird. Like I taught middle school for years and I’ve never heard of a lot of them. It would be nice if there were filters too because there are certain nationalities that just don’t make sense for me to look at

### 2/5 — Could be so much more

*2026-06-03, version 0.1.6*

I love the website and was excited for an app where my partner and I could compare names but it is severely lacking. No way to filter names by origin, length, starting letter, vibes, etc and can’t search or favorite names as a “baseline” for your style (which are things I love about the website!) Claims it is adaptive but I’ve swiped left on about 1000 names and swiped right on around 70 total so far so I don’t think it’s very effective. I like the analysis and I like the interface but there needs to be more ways to narrow your search.

### 3/5 — Good, but could be *gooder*

*2026-05-27, version 0.1.6*

The price is excellent, only a one-off payment in an age of pointless subscriptions, and the style/layout is trim & well-presented...

… However, it’s linked to your usual Nameberry account, but it doesn’t factor in any of the names you’ve previously ‘liked’ or saved on your account in the analysis, and you can’t search names within the app to add to your list either, can only swipe for names 🤷🏻

### 2/5 — Swipe only

*2026-05-27, version 0.1.6*

Wish it was more than just swiping. I've always loved Nameberry but a search function/similarity to the site would go a long way.

### 3/5 — Hoping for updates

*2026-05-10, version 0.1.3*

I’ve always loved Nameberry and I’m so excited they finally have an app. I’ve downloaded name apps like this before, the paywall was iffy but expected. Generally, I’m having a great time on this app. However, I have a plethora of improvements I would like to see. First, the stats are suuuuper disappointing. In my opinion the stats you have to pay for should be free and people who paid should get way more in depth stats like boys vs girls, name length, etc. It’s like, oh, that’s it? and I always expect to scroll and see more stats even tho there aren’t. Second, it’s completely impossible to see every name you’ve liked or disliked, which can be problematic. The names only load so far back and it’s super glitchy. The lack of a search feature is super frustrating, and I think it’s important for the liked/disliked section, especially if no other updates go to that section. The app also sometimes has a hard time loading in general and it’s kind of annoying you can only rank five names at a time before it has to load again. It’s a pretty decent app, but there are a lot of features I would like to see implemented before I call it a good app

### 2/5 — Pay for everything, can’t pick gender.

*2026-05-05, version 0.1.3*

From what I understand, you have to pay to link with a partner. You also only get 50 swipes per day unless you pay more. Worst of all, you can’t seem to pick a gender. I am trying to look at boy names but only saw about 5 out of my 50 free swipes.

### 2/5 — disappointing features :(

*2026-05-04, version 0.1.3*

i was excited to learn that nameberry finally had an app as i love using their site but regularly have issues opening it through the web browser on my phone, but finding there is no search feature and its basically just a tinder style “swipe right swipe left” name list tool has left me really disappointed. when i first downloaded the app and signed up it bugged out and i got stuck in a loading screen, which would not go away even after deleting and redownloading the app. now that the issue seems to be fixed, i’m just left feeling disappointed that i cant create a list of preferred names by searching and going through themed lists, most recommendations so far are very common english names you could find looking at any top 100 most popular list of the last 40 years. i know its still fairly new, and theres lots of potential here!! i can see the fun of adding friends/family and coming up with a list together, but sadly this app is just not for me the way it is now :( i will stick to using the site and writing down fav names in my notes app.

### 3/5 — Love the site

*2026-05-01, version 0.1.2*

I love the name berry site. It’s my absolute go to. This app is meh. Maybe once it’s got all the bugs worked out and more features, I’ll redownload. As i was swiping, half the names weren’t showing, I had to click on each one to even see what it was. It didn’t offer me any boy names and next thing I knew, I had used my “lifetime swipes”. I also couldn’t see a search feature. Maybe the paid version is better 🤷‍♀️

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Almost exclusively obscure names…

*2026-07-28, version 0.1.6*

I never write reviews, but nearly every single name in the first 100 swipes were all super obscure outlandish names. How are the names “Pond” and “Friday” being suggested before Bill or George? I’m all about a unique name and but I shouldn’t have to swipe for 30 minutes through 200+ names before seeing ANY popular, commonplace names. Suggestions should at least start to tailor themselves based on the responses to each name so that users are actually seeing a variety of names catered to what they would actually consider naming their child. I expected more from an app created by one of the top baby naming websites. Overall, very disappointed that I paid good money for no additional features on an app that was deleted almost immediately after downloading. Useless - unless you’re naming a fairy of some sort or an imaginary friend.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t seem to “learn” anything

*2026-06-23, version 0.1.6*

The description claims that the app learns what you like based on what you favorite, but it doesn’t seem to do a very good job. Whereas most apps have the issue of showing too many common name, this app has the opposite problem—it’s hard to find a name at all! Most of what I’m swiping through are just straight up not names. It’s like monkeys on typewriters. And similar to many other apps there’s an issue with spelling repeats; Eliot, Elliot, Eliott, etc. Lastly, it doesn’t give you a true mix of male/female names. I’ll go through 30 male before I see a female. But it doesn’t matter anyway because it seems to have a male and female entry for all names. On top of it all the app is just buggy. Just use the website, they clearly don’t have the care/resources to make this any good

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2026-06-08, version 0.1.6*

I thought it would be handy version of the app where you can search names and it will lead you to similar names etc. I would like a refund.

### 1/5 — Don’t purchase!

*2026-06-06, version 0.1.6*

Keeps glitching and says it can’t find the backend. Also struggling to link with partner. Good idea, needs work.

### 1/5 — App sucks

*2026-06-04, version 0.1.6*

This app sucks. Terrible names. Repeats names. Can’t set any preferences. Just keeps giving you terrible names. I want my 5 bucks back.

### 1/5 — So Disappointed

*2026-05-23, version 0.1.5*

I have been waiting years for nameberry to launch an app that gets past the glitchyness of adverts and is more user friends for using on your phone to search names and make lists etc. I was so disappointed when I finally downloaded the app to find it was just a copy of Kinder! Not cool copying someone else’s already successful app and what’s the point?! I love nameberrys website for all the name meanings and would love an app to quickly search a name to find out what it means or a more user friendly way to compile and scroll lists to find new names. Really disappointed.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2026-05-22, version 0.1.5*

Stuck on a loading screen with a wheel. They need to fix this. Absolutely terrible.

### 1/5 — Basically Requires Subscription

*2026-05-22, version 0.1.5*

“In App Purchases” is not sufficient to explain how little you get for free. You only get 50 swipes on your own and you can’t compare swipes with a partner or friend unless you pay the $4.99 subscription fee.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2026-05-20, version 0.1.5*

Only 50 swipes of names suggestions and then you have to pay to continue using it.

### 1/5 — No gender option

*2026-05-08, version 0.1.3*

The website is so much better (despite the fact that is covered in ads.) Lame you can pick a gender, I don’t really want to swipe through the opposite gender.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing baby name app

*2026-07-07, version 0.1.6*

Nameberry has long been my favorite baby name website. The only thing that was missing was an app so I could use Nameberry everywhere I went — and now they have delivered! The Nameberry app is the perfect baby name app, it has an excellent swiping interface and the best name information out there. I
Love it!

### 5/5 — Love this!

*2026-07-01, version 0.1.6*

The Nameberry app is genuinely a new way of looking at names! It's thoughtful, intuitive, and isn't just a bunch of name meanings. I love that it shows me my tastes and lets me learn about me. Am recommending to all expecting parents!

### 5/5 — Great app from nameberry!

*2026-05-23, version 0.1.5*

As a self proclaimed name nerd, i absolutely love this app and nameberry in general. I love that I can swipe through names now. My only suggestion is that analysis be open for individuals not just couples and the add in the ability to search for names you know you already favor. This is a fantastic app, especially for couples choosing a baby name

### 5/5 — Good

*2026-05-18, version 0.1.5*

I like the features and it’s cheap for what it offers as a one time payment

### 5/5 — Finally!

*2026-05-09, version 0.1.3*

So happy that Nameberry finally came out with an app! Nameberry is the best name website out there and I’ve been having a great time swiping on names! Must have for anyone into naming and names. UX is great!

### 5/5 — Fabulous!

*2026-05-03*

This is the now the best baby naming app on the App Store, bar none. I’ve tried them all, and this is the only one I’m gonna use from now on. The design, the information, and the swiping — best in class. I’ve always been a fan of the Nameberry site, and this is even better.

### 5/5 — Finally, the naming app to rule all naming apps

*2026-05-02, version 0.1.2*

Nameberry has been around since I named my teenager. The amount of detail in their name analysis and the quality of their name recommendations is unmatched. So excited to see it in app form after all these years.

### 5/5 — Wow wow wow

*2026-04-30, version 0.1.1*

There are so many BAD baby naming apps and finally there’s one that totally blew me away. So fun, insightful, useful, and I love love love the feature that lets me test my name choices against friends and family all for the price of one download! Just…..wow.

### 5/5 — Best baby naming app

*2026-04-28, version 0.1.1*

This app named my baby! It learned my style super quickly and had amazing suggestions. Loved that I could swipe and match with my husband’s choices. I don’t think we would have found our daughter’s name without it!

### 5/5 — Such a help!

*2026-04-28, version 0.1.1*

My partner and I were in completely different worlds when it came to naming our baby and this helped a ton finding names that we both liked. Great app!
