## What is NAMILIUM?

WHAT NAMILIUM IS

A real-time audio analyzer for measuring sound, seeing it, and singing with it. Spectrum, spectrogram, oscilloscope, loudness metering, and now a voice tuner, with no extra purchase. FFT sizes up to 32768 (about 1.5 Hz resolution). Pair a measurement mic with its correction curve and you can read sound pressure levels too.

No account, no ads, no tracking.

WHO IT IS FOR

- You want your stream or podcast to sit at the right level
- You want to check how a room or a speaker actually sounds, in numbers
- You want to see whether you are singing in tune, not just hear it
- You want to keep the tune you just hummed as written notes
- You want to watch how sound works while you learn it

GETTING STARTED

Open the app, turn on the mic, and whatever is around you is drawn as it happens. Load an audio file to watch a track you like. Play a sine tone or a sweep from the signal generator to check gear or a speaker. Switching views and adjusting the details both live in the control panel.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Measure
- Spectrum: A and C weighting curves, 1/1 to 1/12 octave band bars, or a continuous curve. You can load a correction curve for a measurement mic (FRD format)
- Loudness: BS.1770 LUFS (momentary, short-term, integrated), loudness range, and true peak with 4x oversampling, useful for matching levels for streaming or podcasts
- dB SPL: pair a measurement mic with its correction curve to read sound pressure levels
- Snapshots and CSV: keep the current shape to compare against, or export the numbers to work on elsewhere
- Multi-resolution analysis: fast response up high, fine detail down low

See
- Spectrogram: how frequencies move over time. Pinch to zoom in time or frequency, and freezing recomputes the visible range. The axis can be linear, logarithmic or mel, and you can overlay the three peaks that shape a vowel sound
- Waterfall: your spectrum history as a 3D landscape
- Oscilloscope: Auto and Normal triggering holds the waveform still, with a ms/div time base you can pinch to zoom
- Phase Scope: stereo width and phase on a Lissajous display, with a correlation meter for mono compatibility
- Crosshair readout: exact frequency, time and level under your finger

Sing
- Voice tuner: sing and your pitch flows across the screen as a line, with the note you are on spelled out. Set a target note and you can see whether you are on it, close to it, or off
- Transcription: what you sing is written down as notes. Export as MIDI and the tune you just hummed goes straight into your DAW. The audio and the raw numbers come along too
- Click and beat: keep time while you sing and the exported notes line up to the bar. Freeze the display and zoom in to find where it drifted

Input and output
- Input: the built-in mic, a Bluetooth mic, or your own audio files
- Signal generator: sine tones and sweeps for testing
- Screen capture: save or share any analyzer view as an image

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT

- It works entirely on your device. Your audio is never sent anywhere
- Nine themes including Neon and Ocean, plus custom themes you design yourself, and an optional rainbow that flows across the frequency axis

## Key features

- Real-time spectrum and spectrogram analysis
- Loudness metering (LUFS, true peak)
- Voice tuner with pitch display
- Audio transcription to MIDI
- Oscilloscope and phase scope views
- On-device processing, no ads or tracking

### 5/5 — A precise, beautiful analyzer? Yes. Definitely.

*2026-08-28*

Great app. Truly excellent. This harkens back to the old days of mobile apps actually being effective, precisely-scoped tools, and I love it. No clutter in the features or interface. A variety of spectrum analyzer tools, each configurable in all of the right ways. And currently, I’m using the freeze function to do basic spectral analysis of human speech with AI. The developer should know that I’d be willing to pay at least $5 for this app. The fact that it’s free is a steal. Brilliant.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-27

With Bluetooth headphones or speakers connected, the spectrogram and waterfall could come up almost empty. Those two views were the only ones listening through the Bluetooth microphone. The settings now have Use Bluetooth Microphone, and while it is off the app listens through the device's own or a wired microphone. It is off by default.

Also in this release

- When the microphone does not pick up high frequencies, the frequency scale now stops where the microphone does
- On light themes, the spectrogram and waterfall used colors unrelated to the theme. They are now built from the theme's own colors
- Fixed: text on accent-colored buttons and pills could be hard to read
- Analysis settings moved to the screens that use them. Pre-emphasis and whitening for the spectrogram are now separate from the other views

### 1.1.1 — 2026-08-18

The voice tuner writes down what you sing more accurately. Notes now land on the pitch you actually sang, so the exported MIDI needs less cleaning up.

Also in this release

- Fixed: a note could be written down at a different pitch from the one you sang
- Fixed: short sounds you did not sing could show up as notes
- Fixed: after a wide leap in pitch, the reading could linger on the previous note
- Transcription was reworked, so the app runs lighter and cooler while you sing
- About in the settings now has Contact Support. If something does not work, tell us from there

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-11

Namilium now has a voice tuner. Sing and your pitch flows across the screen as a line, with the note you are on spelled out. Set a target note and you can see whether you are on it, close to it, or off. What you sing is written down as notes and exported as MIDI, so the tune you just hummed goes straight into your DAW. Keep time with the click and the exported notes line up to the bar. Freeze the display and zoom in to find where it drifted.

Also in this release

- Audio input was rebuilt. Sound from the microphone now reaches the app about ten times more often than before, and the display responds noticeably faster
- File playback and the signal generator moved onto the same path, and the drawing math was reworked, so the app runs lighter and cooler
- Namilium now adopts Liquid Glass. In landscape the visuals continue underneath the glass
- The measurement settings were reordered so that each group says what it is for, and the sound pressure calibration now reads as a set of steps to follow
- Fixed: a microphone correction curve was lost as soon as you moved the trim slider
- Fixed: the microphone could not always be turned off in landscape
- Fixed: the frame rate setting was not applied to analysis

### 1.0.4 — 2026-07-30

The spectrogram has been rebuilt. Pinch with two fingers to zoom in time or in frequency. Freezing recomputes the visible range, so the further you zoom in, the finer the detail. The frequency axis can be linear, logarithmic or mel, and you can overlay the three peaks that shape a vowel sound.

The measurement spectrum gains A and C weighting, octave-band display, microphone correction curves, and a dB SPL readout. You can also keep a snapshot to compare against, or export the data as CSV.

Rainbow Spectrum is now the "Rainbow" option inside Spectrum. If you were using it, the app opens next time in bar view with the rainbow already on. The glow and mirror effects did not carry over, because they get in the way of reading a measurement display.

The oscilloscope time axis can be pinched to zoom. Its drawing was rebuilt and now uses about half the GPU it did before, so the app runs cooler and uses less battery.

You can also save or share any analyzer view as an image, and Bluetooth microphones work as an input. Several bugs are fixed, including the control panel running off screen in landscape, the phase scope spilling outside its frame, and the loudness meter not resetting.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-07-17

Fixes and refinements for a more stable experience. If you declined microphone access once, granting it later in Settings now works right away. Opening the signal generator sheet no longer stops playback or analysis, and you can tap to hide the controls on the measurement views. We also fixed a spectrogram issue where the last sound could linger as a band after silence, and made sure the playback panel isn't clipped at the bottom on smaller screens.
