## What is Naming Therapy?

"Great!!! This is a fantastic and very practical application! This app is well worth it! 5 stars!"

"This app has proven to be very helpful for multiple children on my caseload who have difficulty using expanded descriptive language. 5 stars!"

Naming Therapy is the best-selling word-finding app to help people with aphasia and children with special needs practice important naming and description skills.

Designed by a Speech-Language Pathologist for use in the home and clinic, this app features beautiful photos, real voice, and full customization with over 700 words included!

***Try it for FREE as part of Language Therapy Lite***
***One of four full apps included in Language Therapy***

This app has 4 parts:
1) Naming Practice: 400+ pictured nouns with an evidence-based cueing hierarchy and optional self-scoring, with the option to add your own photos and cues. The app records which cue was used to get the correct answer and produces a score report for email. Use different cues within Naming Practice to target confrontation naming, responsive naming, phrase completion, repetition, and oral reading.

2) Describe: 580+ pictures with 4-6 semantic & 4 phonemic question prompts for semantic feature analysis, phonological components analysis, and expanding expression skills. You can add your own words and select from 25 prompts to go with them. Icons representing questions prompting for information about the appearance, category, function, shape, size, color, taste, location and more surround each picture. Target sound knowledge by hearing prompts for first and last sound, rhyming words, and syllables.

3) Naming Test: a set presentation of 30 pictures with scoring and a report. This is a non-standardized test intended for screening a person's ability to name common items. It contains common and less common items of the categories contained in this app. A perfect screener!

4) Flashcards: 700+ clear, full-color pictures including verbs and adjectives; touch to hear the spoken word or see the printed word with the ability to add your own pictures. Use the verb pictures to create sentences or implement response elaboration training.

Features:
*Limit words by syllable length to just practice the short ones or target the longer ones - perfect for apraxia
*Real recorded male voice provides a neutral accent in 5 languages with slow, natural speech for easy comprehension
*Child-friendly mode turns off references to alcohol and violence and deactivates links to outside sites on the home screen
*Database controls let you turn each word on or off within the app, so you can customize even further
*Tap is the only motion required - no dragging, swiping or pinching needed for new users and those with motor impairment

**Developer response:** Thank you for your positive review! Wishing you the best.

### 2/5 — Needs more diversity

*2020-02-05*

All of the models appear to be Caucasian. Many of my patients are African American or Hispanic. They are already struggling with their language concepts post stroke. Not having images consistent with their own experience doesn’t help would give it a higher rating except for this.

**Developer response:** We recently updated the images in the app to better represent the diverse population that we serve. Thank you for your important feedback and please don't hesitate to contact us again with any other issues you might have: support@tactustherapy.com

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2019-08-10*

Bought this because the free demo app was so disappointing, but this isn’t much better. Some of the initial sound phonemic cues are wrong and the cueing phrases for a target word are spoken in a childish and thus patronising voice for adults. In addition, it appears that a category set that bills itself as containing 50 items, in reality contains about 16 items that are simply repeated another two times. Very poor.

**Developer response:** I'm sorry you were disappointed. We would love to know which initial sound cues were incorrect. Our voice is meant to be cheerful, but not childish. The number of items in a category is separate from the number of trials in a session, so if you select only a category with 16 items but choose 50 trials, you will see repetitions. We welcome all feedback to support@tactustherapy.com so we can address your concerns in a timely fashion or point you toward how to get a refund for your purchase. We do not want unhappy customers.

### 1/5 — Lesefunktion

Das Mikrofon ist schlecht, die Wiedergabe von Worten ist zu leise

### 5/5 — Très interessant

*2016-06-14*

Je suis orthophoniste et j'utilise très régulièment les applications de Tactus Therapy avec mes patients.
Ils apprécient particulièrement "Naming" et "Writing", j'utilise aussi souvent "Compréhension", "Reading" et "Conversation". J'aimerais beaucoup que les autres applications puissent être traduites en français en particulier "Advanced naming" qui me parait très interessant également

### 2/5 — Mr

I was initially excited at how useful this app could be for therapy but it has a number of flaws; it's not possible to present exactly the customised pictures you enter as the system dictates that they are entered in multiples of 50 and also that they are presented in random order. So even if you have exactly 50 stimulus pictures they won't necessarily all get presented as the system randomises their presentation. Secondly, for each customisable stimulus picture there must be a sentence completion cue which I found tricky to complete. There is also a heavy US centric bias to the pre-supplied cues e.g. pretzel and their pronunciation.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your valuable feedback! For fast and friendly technical support, please email info@tactustherapy.com. We updated the app in 2015 to include a new UK voice. If you want to see only one of each of your pictures, you can change the settings for "number of trials" to "all". Our randomization process will show you all the items if it can. If you do not use the sentence completion cues, you can record a second of silence to move on, or use a basic statement (known as a carrier phrase) such as "This is a....". We continue to update the app based on user feedback, so please email us anytime.

### 5/5 — Naming Therapy

*2014-02-05*

This is one amazing app. it was the first of all the Tactus Therapy apps I have purchased for my husband after his stroke just over a year ago.
His speech therapist at the time suggested we look into the app as she had just read a review about it's upcoming launch last August 2011. He really was still struggling with naming at the time and I anxiously kept watch for the release. The ease of use for him was awesome ( he was not used to using any technology). I had been using flashcards and picture cards with him, yet there were few that didn't appear child like. With this app his naming has improved so much along with his confidence level.
I still occasionally will cue him in our ongoing conversations, however he has come such a long way this past year. He tells people often, especially in his group therapy, how wonderful these apps are and the ease of use with the iPad. In fact we know of a few families that took his advice.
I can't thank Tactus Therpy Solutions enough for playing a role in my husbands ongoing reovery.

### 5/5 — Wonderful app!

*2013-12-03*

Before this app came along I think I had about 6 different apps to target confrontational naming for a variety of photos. This app has it all and it's my 'go-to' now. The photos are high quality and the app is easy to navigate. 5 stars!

### 5/5 — Most used app

*2013-12-03*

This is by far one of my most used apps in my clinical practice as a SLP and one of my most recommended apps as well. I love not having to carry a huge deck of cards around the hospital, and the patients are thrilled to use an iPad. Even some of the doctors have requested we "show them the pictures." But the part I love the MOST is the way the app collects data for me. HUGE time saver!
