## What is NAMper?

NAMper turns your iPhone or iPad into a complete rig for guitar, bass and vocals: 18 amps computed from their circuits, Neural Amp Modeler profiles of real amps, a pedalboard of studio effects, a stage looper, a sampler, setlists with backing tracks and full MIDI control. Free, with no ads, no subscriptions and no account.

AMPS & TONES
• HyperReal: 18 amps computed from their circuits — tube stages, tone stack, phase inverter, output transformer, speaker and power supply. The factory presets play on them by default, and a live schematic shows every stage at work
• HyperReal pedals and studio gear: seven overdrives, distortions and fuzzes, a tube program EQ and a variable-mu limiter, each computed from its schematic
• Mods: change a circuit's tubes, parts and switches, keep several named versions, and load amp files of your own
• Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) engine: play through captures of real tube amps, pedals and cabinets
• Thousands of free tones from the TONE3000 library, right inside the app
• Ten cabinet impulses by Shift Line — open 1x12 and 2x12, tweed 4x10, British 2x12, modern 4x12 and four bass cabinets — built in, with the factory presets moved onto them
• Basic: seven light tube amp models and cab IRs that work offline, and 128 factory presets ready to play
• Your own .nam profiles and impulse responses from the Files app
• Capture your own amp or pedal on the standard NAM signal, then train it right on the device or send the recording to TONE3000 — one file is all it takes

RIG BUILDER
• Drag-and-drop chain: gate, compressor with sidechain, drive and fuzz, parametric, graphic and passive EQs, low and high cut, wah, octaver, harmonizer with up to four voices, autotune, pitch shifter, delays, eight types of reverb, modulation and more
• Sound freeze and rhythm, dynamics, voice processing and vocoder, synth and 12-string sound, lo-fi, gated and reverse reverbs
• Every block has its own presets
• Parallel chains and up to four rigs at once — guitar and vocals, each on its own input; any chain can go to its own interface output
• Master section: saturation, limiter, LUFS metering
• Up to 16 scenes per rig with pedal morph, preset banks on MIDI program change, sharing as files
• Audio Unit effects inside the chain, their parameters on NAMper's own controls, ready for MIDI learn

STAGE LOOPER
• Four cells, loops up to 64 bars; the other loops are multiples of the first and stay in time
• Each cell stops and starts on its own and comes back in time
• Undo by layer, reverse, speed from ½ to ×8, transpose ±12, fades, multiply and bounce
• A recording chain of its own for each loop: a rig preset or a scene
• Loop library with import and export and 27 factory drum grooves
• Loops survive an app restart

SAMPLER & PERFORMANCE
• 16 pads: files or recording from the input, trim, pitch, loop; an acoustic kit made from real drums
• Setlists with backing tracks and song automation: presets, scenes, knobs, faders, pads and the looper play along with the track
• The Perform screen with big buttons for the stage
• Multitrack performance recording: mix, dry input and backing track

CONTROL
• MIDI learn on every button and knob, on any channel; Bluetooth MIDI pairing
• MIDI out: presets and scenes as program changes, and the rig's knobs and switches sent back to your controller
• MIDI clock in and out: tempo from a drum machine or a DAW
• Sound triggers — a knock on the body, a note, a chord — fire the pads and the looper with no delay
• Chromatic and polyphonic (all strings at once) tuner
• USB audio interfaces: multichannel inputs and outputs, per-channel trim and naming

AUDIO UNIT PLUG-IN
• NAMper works as an Audio Unit in hosts on iPhone and iPad and looks just like the app: chains, editors, presets, library, shared MIDI map

NAMper is free forever. If it earns a place on your pedalboard, there is a tip jar inside.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.5 — 2026-10-30

HyperReal: amps, pedals and studio gear computed from their circuits. And a stem splitter for any song.
• Stem splitter: a song splits into drums, bass, vocals, guitar, keys and the rest right on the device. In Perform the parts sit as tracks under the song, like in a DAW, each with mute, solo and level.
• Stems in the Mix: the song's parts appear as strips in the Mix tab, each with its waveform and live meters. Level, mute and solo are shared with the tracks in Perform.
• The click follows the song's own beats: the drummer's ears hear where they are.
• Sets: one song can sit in several sets. An edit in one set changes it in all of them, the editor shows which sets it reaches, and Unlink makes the song the set's own. A song can be copied within a set. Presets can be ticked several at once: a song for each, or all into one song.
• Amp modeler: 18 amps computed from their schematics (tube stages, tone stack, phase inverter, output transformer, power supply). The Amp block's third source beside Basic and NAM captures.
• HyperReal beyond the amp: seven pedals in the Drive block, Tube Program EQ and Twin-Mu Limiter.
• See the circuit live: blocks or the schematic, every tube's level, the power supply sag. Mods: swap tubes, parts and switches, save your own mods and import your own amp files.
• The sampler is now a block, and its kits are its presets. MIDI pads live in the pinned Sampler rig, which a preset change leaves alone. The looper pedal is a block in the rig too and works with the loop library.
• The Looper block gets the loop editor (trim, start, length, level, pan, undo) and MIDI learn on its controls, for each block on its own.
• New look: a block's editor opens in a panel beside the chain and closes with its cross or a tap on empty space. Block graphs move with the knobs.
• Ten cabinets from Shift Line, a new parametric EQ with dynamic bands, and the Cut block.
• 1 to 16 scenes, any time signature from 2/2 to 7/16.
• MIDI out: presets and scenes as program changes, rig controls echoed to your controller. Learn on any channel, tuner and metronome as actions.
• Audio Unit effects right in the chain.
• Plugin: MIDI learn in hosts like GarageBand. A project from another device finds its IRs and captures. The plugin window fits its width.
• Packs: extra downloads in Settings › Packs.
• Imports run in the background, with a progress bar and cancel. IRs longer than 30 seconds are not accepted.
• Importing a song again keeps it: the same file keeps its stems and analysis, and a different file with the same name comes in beside it as “Name (2)”.
• TONE3000: a bank download keeps going after the window closes, with its progress and Stop in the block. The app shows when it is reading a tone from the site, and the bank count in the picker is right.
• No more silent loop takes while the input is cut against feedback (mic → speaker): the looper says why.
• Previews and recordings play through NAMper's own audio. With AirPods, sound no longer jumps to the speaker.
• Fixes and stability.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-10-12

Now with the most uncompromising amp modeling technology — HyperReal — get your flagships ready.
• Amp modeler: 15 amps computed from their circuits — tube stages, tone stack, phase inverter, output transformer, power supply. The Amp block's third source, beside the built-in amp and NAM captures.
• HyperReal factory presets: the default on fast devices. Your choice in Settings, always.
• Settings: amp modeler quality (Live / Studio).
• The amp's circuit, live: blocks or a schematic, each tube's level and the supply's sag.
• Improved FB Guard, 12-string, Harmony and Vocoder effects.
• MIDI Learn menus can remove a binding.
• Minor fixes.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-10-01

• Tap tempo over MIDI: assign any footswitch with MIDI Learn on the TAP button.
• Minor fixes.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-30

• Captures now train A2 models: A2 Full is as accurate as the classic standard at a quarter of the CPU, A2 Lite is lighter still.
• One preset browser everywhere, with audition on the rig; MIDI learn for presets and the record button.
• MIDI loops: render to audio, Bounce with MIDI cells, undo for cell edits.
• Recording captures every rig's output; DAWproject export with the rigs and the NAMper plug-in for re-amping.
• Full control from the DAW and MIDI: every plug-in parameter can be automated in the DAW and mapped to MIDI.
• Larger tone source buttons, the library from the header.
• Minor fixes.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-26

New effects
• 13 new blocks:
  – freeze and rhythm: Freeze, Slicer, Swell;
  – dynamics: Transient, Multiband;
  – voice: Vocal, Vocoder, Doubler;
  – synth and sound: 12-string, Synth, Lo-fi;
  – reverbs: Gated and Reverse.
• Two graphic equalizers.
• Drive: the circuits are split into four families, each with its own look, and five new ones join them.
• Delay: a second tap, reverse, modulation, filters in the feedback loop and ducking.
• Phaser gains a Vibe mode. Compressor gets knee, mix and a detector filter. Pitch gets a pedal mode and the Voice engine with a formant knob: a voice shifted an octave up or down keeps its vowels.
• Harmonizer: up to four formant-preserving voices, a choir, and the key picked from a list. Autotune holds the note and keeps your vibrato.
• Shimmer in Cloud: a fifth up, an octave and a fifth up, and an octave down.
• Every block has its own presets.

A looper rebuilt for the stage
• New cells: a ring with the waveform and buttons in the corners (mute, solo, undo, play). Each cell stops and starts on its own and comes back in time.
• Loops up to 64 bars. The other loops are multiples of the first (×¼…×8) and stay in time even with no tempo set.
• Undo by layer: each press removes one layer, and the last press deletes the take itself.
• Reverse, speed from ½ to ×8, transpose ±12, follow tempo, fades, overdub decay, multiply and bounce.
• Volume and transpose: hold the button and slide your finger.
• A chain of its own for recording each loop: pick a rig preset or a scene. You can hand the rig to a single loop.
• Loop library: save, preview, import and export, load into any cell, send to the sampler and back. 27 factory drum grooves: rock, metal, grunge, post-punk, neo-soul and more. A MIDI loop locks into time with the loops already playing and brings its own kit.
• Loops survive an app restart and a sample rate change.
• Echo cancelling in the looper's gear menu: loops coming out of the speaker stay out of the new take.
• One button to swap the playing loops for the stopped ones with a smooth crossfade (MIDI loops too), or to set the speed of every loop. Play starts from the top or from where it stopped, your choice.

Song automation
Record presets, scenes, knobs, morph, faders, pads and the looper into a setlist song. It all plays back along with the backing track. Points can be added and edited, and the lane's events show as a list. The pads on Perform light up with what is playing. Markers are no longer needed.

Stage and setlists
• A pad has its own scenes and its own menu: replace the sound, save the current rig into it, clear it.
• Drag a preset straight onto a song's pad. Reorder the song editor by dragging.

Sampler
• A new look in the looper's style. Pads light up with their own level.
• An acoustic kit made from real drums: SM Drums by Scott McLean.

Capture
• The standard NAM reference signal: send one file, the recording, to TONE3000 or any NAM trainer.
• The level check tells you what is wrong.

Plug-in on iPhone and iPad
The Audio Unit looks and works like the app: chains, editors, presets, library and a shared MIDI map.

MIDI
• MIDI clock in and out: tempo from a drum machine or a DAW, start on the downbeat.
• MIDI learn on every button and every looper parameter. A Four-Switch Loop Deck layout comes ready.
• A sound learned by a trigger fires the pads and the looper with no delay.

Also
• Every volume goes up to +12 dB.
• The theme editor sets the corner radius, and the light Concrete theme is warmer.
• Feedback guard works in the background too.
• Lots of fixes.
