## What is NanoTerm?

NanoTerm is a fast, native SSH client and terminal for iPhone and iPad, built for developers and system administrators who manage remote servers on the go.

Connect over SSH, transfer files with SFTP, keep an eye on your servers, and manage Docker containers — all from a clean, native interface with strong security built in.

TERMINAL & SSH
• Native SSH terminal with full keyboard support, customizable themes and fonts
• Command history and autocomplete
• Organize hosts into groups, with automatic OS detection
• Connect through jump hosts (bastion) and SOCKS5 / HTTP proxies

AUTHENTICATION & SECURITY
• Password and SSH key authentication (Ed25519, RSA)
• Generate hardware-backed keys in the Secure Enclave, protected by Face ID / Touch ID
• Host key verification (trust on first use) with an alert when a server's key changes
• Lock the app with Face ID or a PIN
• Optional post-quantum key exchange

FILES (SFTP)
• Browse the remote file system
• Upload, download, rename and delete files, and create folders

SERVER MONITORING
• Real-time CPU, memory, network and disk metrics
• Daily and monthly network traffic usage
• Availability of some metrics depends on the server's environment

DOCKER
• View running containers and their stats
• Start, stop, restart and remove containers
• Quick deploy

SNIPPETS
• Save and reuse your common commands

FILES APP INTEGRATION
• Your servers become locations in the system Files app
• Browse remote directories and open files in place
• Edit and save straight back to the server
• Upload, rename, move, delete, and create folders
• Works with password and ED25519 key auth — proxy and jump-chain hosts included
• Reach any server file from any app's document picker
• Choose which hosts appear, per host

SYNC & PRIVACY
• Optional iCloud sync for your hosts, snippets and known hosts across devices
• Credentials are stored in the device keychain
• Universal app for iPhone and iPad

NanoTerm keeps the essentials fast and the interface clean, so you can reach your servers in seconds.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.7 — 2026-08-22

• Faster iCloud sync — changes you make on one device now show up on the others much sooner.
• Stability and performance improvements throughout the app.
• Various small fixes and polish.

### 1.1.6 — 2026-08-19

• Passwords you type on a server are no longer kept in command history.
• Built for coding agents: one-tap setups for Claude Code, Codex and Gemini CLI, and reconnecting drops you back into the same session instead of starting over. Tabs show when an agent is working, with a recap of what you missed.
• Better Chinese, Japanese and Korean: the character-set setting is fixed and consistent everywhere, UTF-8 is set up automatically on connect, and backspacing over wide characters is cleaner.
• Smoother output — a burst of text no longer freezes the screen — and the terminal opens at the right size from the first line instead of reflowing.
• Steadier pasting: control characters are stripped and text is encoded for the host, with a confirmation for multi-line pastes.
• Also: hosts set up for an agent are marked in the list, leaving with exit no longer reports a dropped connection, sessions can be exported as text with secrets masked, Nerd Font gained all four weights, and more elements are labelled for VoiceOver.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-07-20

- Pick where Files starts on each server — the home folder by default, or any path you choose.
- Hosts no longer appear in the Files app unless you ask them to — turn on “Show in Files App” for the hosts you want.
- Steadier Files integration: fixed intermittent sync warning badges on your server locations, and cut needless background refreshing (easier on battery and data).
- More of the app is now translated, including the Home Screen Widget settings and the widget’s name and description in the widget gallery.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-07-17

- Your servers, in the Files app: every SSH host can now appear as a location in the system Files app. Browse remote directories, open and edit files with save-back, upload, rename, move, delete, and create folders — over password or ED25519 key auth, including hosts behind a proxy or jump chain. Toggle "Show in Files App" per host.
- New home screen & lock screen widgets show your hosts' live status — tap to connect instantly. Pin and reorder hosts from the new widget settings page.
- Shortcuts & Siri support: connect to a host, open SFTP, run a snippet, or start a port forward — straight from the Shortcuts app or your voice.
- Terminal, refined: JetBrains Mono is now built in, cursor style is fully configurable (block, bar, underline, with optional blinking), fonts show a live preview, and copying selections gives clear feedback.
- Per-host startup command: run something like `cd /var/www && tmux attach` automatically every time you connect.
- Gentler connection errors: if a host can't be reached, you now get a compact alert right where you are — with one-tap Retry — instead of a full-screen error page.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-07-14

- Jump hosts (bastions) now support SSH key authentication — password, ED25519, and Secure Enclave keys all work in a host chain.
- Pick an SSH key while editing a host and there's nothing to pick, You can now generate or import one right there — no more losing your draft.
- Clearer sync guidance: the Sync page now spells out that passwords and keys sync only when you enable it, and connection errors tell you when a password or key simply isn't on this device yet.
- If saving a password to the Keychain fails, you'll know immediately instead of finding out at connect time.
- Monitor is steadier: brief network hiccups no longer drop the dashboard, and hosts without Docker no longer show a bogus "0 running".
- Traffic cards no longer reload when you scroll or switch tabs — the chart stays put and refreshes quietly in the background.
- The Docker page no longer reloads every time you switch to it — your container list appears instantly and updates in the background.
- Fixed: the Security & Privacy row in Settings no longer truncates its status.
