It then began my unit in an offline state, not allowing me to access nor control the settings. I have followed all online and service representative’s suggestions of deleting and reconnecting the fireplace within the app; deleting and reinstalling the app; using a designated 2.4GHz channel on my router; and power cycling the unit, disconnecting the power for a hard reset. Nothing works. The unit shows successfully connected to wifi and allows control from the app for approximately 2 minutes before the commands fail to reach the unit. If I close out the app and reopen, it now shows offline again. This has been ongoing since the beginning of January and the fireplace shows connected to a 2.4 GHz channel on my router, despite the app’s inability to communicate. Should this issue be resolved, the app is relatively easy to navigate and makes the fireplace features much easier to personalized with the ability to save favourite themes. ### 5/5 — Super handy for my Astound fireplace *2025-05-26, version 2.3.9* I’ve been using the Napoleon Home app with my Astound Electric Fireplace and it’s honestly made things so much easier. I love that I can turn it on before I get home or adjust the flame and lighting without getting off the couch. The app is simple to use, and everything connects smoothly. Also nice to see the status of the fireplace at a glance. Overall, a great companion if you have any Napoleon smart devices. ### 5/5 — Works great now *2025-05-19, version 2.3.9* I have the PVX grill and the EQHub thermostat. The App and connectivity is working great. Love the grill and enjoy seeing the cost and emissions savings from the thermostat. ### 2/5 — Could be so much better *2025-04-05, version 2.3.7* I really wish developers would work on the energy usage data display. It’s very limited and seems incorrect. You can’t see the previous month data at all. Each day you can’t see the previous day data until very late in the day, and you can’t see anything about the current day. There is no way to enter your costs for gas or electricity, which would be useful for it to use the low cost mode. Depending on the mode used, it always shows 100% of time used as heat pump or furnace. Never partly each of them although that’s what the system is doing. ### 3/5 — Changes to schedule do not always save *2025-03-10, version 2.3.6* Changes to the schedule (times, temp, fan ect) are often not saved. Even more frustrating is the copy to other days feature does not always work. ### 3/5 — Honest Feedback for the App Developers *2025-02-03* Pros: creating an account was relatively easy, pairing our new fireplace was easy once we used the actual control on the fireplace (the physical remote didn’t work to put the fireplace into WiFi mode). It’s also easy to turn the heat on or off, switch to Fahrenheit from the Celsius default, and toggle toggle between the flame patterns. Cons: the app is glitchy. By pressing the temperature icon (when the heat is off), a Client Error 422 message pops up. The “Ember Bed” and “Lights” pages are terrible. Both require an awkward swipe up/down to operate. The color graphs don’t allow you to drag your finger to the correct color, you have to tap on a new spot, which didn’t feel intuitive. My biggest issue is that the color that I selected for the ember bed(a teal) is NOTHING like the color presented (cobalt blue) If there are understandably limited colors that the unit can produce, a color wheel shouldn’t be provided to the user. Finally, the audio is cringingly bad. It could significantly be improved by 3 things. 1) creating more volume options. We found the quiet option was way too loud for ambient noise. 2) fixing the obvious loop break that happens every 45 seconds 3) turning off the fan sound that seems to accompany the crackling noises. Bonus: use a slower audio track that’s more aligned to Alexa’s ambient fireplace sounds or the popular options on Spotify. The intense speed of the crackling sound on the Napoleon is stressfully chaotic. ### 1/5 — Can I give less than one star? *2025-01-15, version 2.3.5* This app is awful. If I could rate lower than 1 star I would. Why have a scheduling function with a ‘save’ button or “copy to other day” function if it never works? With so many similar reviews you’d hope the creators would find a fix. ### 1/5 — Can’t even login *2024-12-24* The app doesn’t support using the password app so if you like most people want to create a saved password for the app, it won’t allow you to use the password app to auto fill and it won’t allow you to paste the password. The developers had to go out of their way to make this app so bad and they succeeded ### 3/5 — V1Thermostate *2024-12-07, version 2.3.4* Thermostat is the weak link in this system. Erratic and at times uncontrollable by the app. Very complicated to use and no consistent heating. Temperature variations frm 22C upstairs and 18C downstairs regardless of where sensors are placed. Contradicting information frm support. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bad update *2026-06-29, version 2.3.21* An update was just put out and it sucks… Says my batteries are empty when the screen on the bbq shows full ( and I know they are) + you no longer see the temp of the grill… come on guys - it was working so well prior to this update.. ### 1/5 — Sucks *2026-06-18, version 2.3.20* 90% of the time it says timed out and doesn’t work. And now ads. *2026-03-09, version 2.3.18* Syncing with my thermostat has always been a hit or miss lottery. The cost savings mode for my heat pump / furnace doesn’t work and their support is useless. And now it’s serving ads via notifications. You can’t just turn off the ad notifications- it’s all or nothing. Time to rip out their thermostat / app and replace with something that works. ### 1/5 — The biggest PITA ever *2026-03-08* The alerts just keep stacking up. So I have to keep pressing ok endlessly. A real PITA. ### 1/5 — Permanent Hold is not Permanent *2025-12-27, version 2.3.17* I work out of town, usually for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, and when I leave I set the thermostat to 58 or 59F (in the winter), and select “Permanent Hold”. The house is empty when I’m away, so there is no need for it to be warmed up to a comfortable temperature. I close the app so I can’t inadvertently change anything. More often than not, when I think of checking the app while I’m away, it shows that it is “Following Schedule” and has heated the house to 70F. This is wasteful and to say the least very aggravating. My heating costs were less when I had an older furnace with a dumb thermostat and would set it and forget it when leaving for work for a couple of weeks. I hope the developers of this app can get rid of this bug, but it’s going on two years since I’ve had the new system installed and it doesn’t seem to have improved. ### 1/5 — Can’t register *2025-06-12, version 2.3.11* The registration box in the app is missing, so I can’t register ### 1/5 — Always out of sync *2025-01-27, version 2.3.5* The app is basically useless for me. It’s always out of sync with the thermostat. And then when I do set the temperature on the app sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve disconnected the thermostat reinstalled the app, basically start from scratch and it worked for maybe a day. Now it’s back to useless. ### 1/5 — Pile of garbage *2025-01-25, version 2.3.5* You can’t adjust the schedule, it always reverts back to old settings. Sometimes you change the temperature in the app and it doesn’t register on the thermostat or vice versa. Pile of garbage! I’m using the home app to remotely control the Napoleon HVAC dual fuel system. The issue was no support and one way communication from thermostat to app, but not app to thermostat. If anyone has trouble with this app, call support, don’t email or use the form support. The number is listed in your app and activate analytics.
