Now when I try to use them they show up blurry. (this has been going on at least a year) I’ve keep the app thus far but if it doesn’t get fixed I’ll probably delete it. ### 4/5 — Good Start! *2020-08-25, version 1.2* Of course there is always room for improvements, fine tuning and upgrades. I like this app! Hey It’s much better than some other apps attempts at ethnic/cultural apps. The graphics are very good... just too small. Just don’t like the several steps it takes to put in a text/message. It’s “downloaded “ on my keyboard. But every time I try to open the keyboard while writing a message, I get offered an upgrade for the app. Then there are so many screens just to get to the Moji of my choice. A lotta work for something so cute. ### 4/5 — Fantastic! Just one thing... *2019-05-15, version 1.2* These emojis are truly stunning! It feels wonderful to be represented through animation, so I really appreciate the creators’ strides to do just that! I love that a wide variety of skin tones are depicted, and that each woman is crowned with an unapologetically Black hairstyle! ☺️#BlackGirlMagic The only drawback I discovered was that all of the women have light brown eyes. This was disheartening to see, as the vast majority of African American women actually have DARK brown eyes. Our dark eye color is a gorgeous physical attribute that is often (and unfortunately) looked down upon in Eurocentric societies, while lighter eye colors are praised. In an attempt to better represent Black women and push back against oppressive stigmas, I hope that the creators will take this detail into consideration and make the appropriate adjustments to celebrate our unique beauty! ### 3/5 — Cute, but... *2019-04-22, version 1.2* I have not been able stick a moji on to a previously sent message as it’s advertised. I followed the instructions and held down the wanted moji, then dragged it to the intended message and instead it was copied into the text box and went out as a new message. That feature was the main reason for purchase. I’m pretty disappointed. ### 3/5 — Why would I *2019-01-25, version 1.2* I was very excited when I saw this app and was excited to show, share and tell my friends all about this new app with this black girl magic, but why would I? There are not a lot of options and they lure you in to make in app purchases. The emojis don’t show us working, on the phone, getting our hair did, being with our families, working out or being in church. Why not have some of those options? Why would I want to purchase this again? You want me to make the purchase for more emojis, I don’t see an incentive to do so. I see a few accessories at best with no other options nor any other emojis. I like this app, but I need more. ### 3/5 — Great idea but..... *2019-01-07, version 1.2* The idea itself is cute but the execution needs work. The pictures come out blurry. If you don’t pay you get 15 emojis an they aren’t really emojis they’re more like attachments. The pictures don’t really look like what the emojis are. I can’t speak for the paid version but the reviews prior to mine can. I’m all for supporting black businesses but this needs some work. I still appreciate the fact that somebody thought bout the naturalistas and tried to include us I just wish it was done better. ### 5/5 — Amazing and empowering app *2018-12-22, version 1.2* I absolutely love this app. It has around 200 emojis with a variety of skin tones, hair styles, and outfits. The quality of the emojis are incredible on my 2017 IPad however, the quality on my iPhone 5s is very poor but what can you expect. ### 5/5 — Black Emojis that you enjoy *2018-12-11, version 1.2* I am so very happy that I purchased this app. Of all the Black Emoji apps. I’ve scanned and searched for, this is among two others (out of thousands) that I found that I identify and relate with and feel understand what Black emojis are supposed to represent and reflect. It does indeed in my opinion reflect who I am and my Black Culture and Community. I love it and I am very happy I purchased it. 🌹🍷❤️🦋 ### 3/5 — App stalls or exits out *2018-12-07, version 1.2* I give this app 3 stars solely for the concept. Unfortunately, the app would not load at all and just exited out. I was able to go into settings and give it all access which gave me access to the 1st portion of the keyboard but if I tried to unlock anything else, it would try to open the app itself therefore starting the app stalling/exiting all over again. The same thing happened to my coworker. I’ll download it again once improvements are made. ### 4/5 — Awesome app.... *2018-12-04, version 1.2* Really cute! I really can appreciate that this app is out here. The cartoons are well done. The only thing I find inconvenient is that you have to go to the app to find all the selections and send them from there. When you go through your text message app, not all the characters are on the keyboard for some reason. So it creates a significant delay in a conversation. Maybe this can be updated or fixed in the future. You can only access the few dark skin emojis to access more they tell you select unlock but nothing happens, you’re just bought to a page where you can make product purchases and the other images still aren’t added to the keyboard. I uninstalled, I have better options built into the iPhone now. ### 1/5 — Nice Idea, but narrow view of our beautiful race...very disappointing and unfortunate. *2019-07-02, version 1.2* I bought this app and downloaded it very excited and ready to share with my friends however I was very disappointed to find that there was no representation of my skin tone in it, or even close. I am a very fair skinned black woman and I love every shade of black. As a black woman, I would never create an African American app promoting positive sisterhood and leave out certain shades of our race as if they don’t exist. What’s even worse is I emailed the company to try to understand why, and never got any correspondence as if someone was just ignoring my comments and questions. Overall, the idea of this app I think is wonderful but to ignore a really concerned customer who was actually very excited about this product is very disheartening to me and as a result, even though I paid for the app and was very excited to support, I cannot continue to support a company that acts as if I do not exist. I will be deleting this app from my phone after this review. It is very unfortunate that these are people of my own race. My only hope is that this company will read my review and re-think their idea of sisterhood and how they represent our race. It says a lot about who you are...I guess I’m not black enough to be represented, shame. ### 1/5 — Payment without upgrade *2019-05-30, version 1.2* I paid for the upgrade and never received it. I reached out on messenger and no one responded. I sent them an email, still nothing! They just took my money for an app that’s supposed to give emojis but instead gives blurred attachments. These are more like bitmojis but with substantially less options for responses. I can customize bitmoji to be a black girl with natural hair. I didn’t need to pay for this. But here I go trying to support black businesses again. Smdh ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2019-04-25, version 1.2* I, like others who've submitted reviews, was very excited when I saw the promotion for this app. I erased it before sending a single sassy diva off into the digital universe. Call me petty or just call me someone who works in marketing.... I was shocked to fine that the 'free' skin-toned option was the darkest one. I get it. You want to drive your target market to make a purchase/upgrade and not just linger in the chocolatey goodness of that free edition but, my goodness! Could you not offer more poses or outfits or something!? Why capitalize directly off of our culture's colorisim/shadeism issues by literally putting the 'least desirable' shaded emoji divas out there like that? Any shade lighter than 'me' is an upgrade? ### 1/5 — ? *2019-03-08, version 1.2* I downloaded, opened, paid for premium for $2 and gave full keyboard access. Listen it’s a good start but in my opinion it is very much still in the beta phase. As another reviewer mentioned it’s not a true emoji. It’s a copied and pasted sticker (bad resolution due to low pixels). Also, while I was drawn to it because of the natural hair, all of the stickers have hazel eyes. You can’t change eye color (to brown for example). There are only four skin shades. 4! of medium brown to dark brown. Not one representative of my color, and none representative of our lighter to fair skinned sisters at all. I am disappointed and will definitely be deleting this limited app. ### 2/5 — Great Concept but... *2020-05-19, version 1.2* I get it... this is definitely a good looking app on the outside but when it comes to using it, it’s just horrible... I just downloaded it today and paid the $1.99 for the upgrade.. this still was a waste of money because... it crashes each and every time I tried to use it EXCEPT once, and when I was able to send the emoji, it was grainy and not a sharp photo AT ALL.. come on developers, represent like a professional....please. ### 2/5 — This App really has 5🌟 potential *2019-01-13, version 1.2* I really love the concept of the app, but, I really think I'd give the app more use if I was able to make the emojis look similar to myself. I didnt read the reviews as I normally do. had I read the reviews I probably would've waited for those much needed changes to make the app more appealing to me similar to the Bitmoji app. Lawd knows I would love to be able to pull up a emoji that's tall, full figured with silver locs and tons of locs candy ### 2/5 — Needs Work *2019-01-05, version 1.2* I was so hyped about this when my sister sent me the link. But it ended up being difficult to upload and use. In fact, I'm still confused and can't use it. Then if you don't allow third-party access, you can't really use it. And it'll keep reminding you but won't give you another opportunity to agree to the third party access. This has so much potential and is so admired. But it shouldn't be difficult and confusing. All a sista wants to do is post and text msg with it without having to go to a class to figure it out, be baited & switched, and be discouraged from using it. Aint nobody got time for this. It doesn’t matter whether I choose the options for small, medium or large. Although I love the concept of the app and paid for premium access to support a Sistah, I’m not happy with the product. For an example of an app that has pictures with good quality and size, check out the Bitmoji app. ### 3/5 — Disappointed. *2022-11-09, version 1.2* I fell in love with these emoji’s soon as I seen them. You don’t really find one that depict African people well. I had full access to all the emojis until I took the app off my phone because I had to use a loner phone from apple while mine was being repaired. The other phone didn’t have enough space for all the apps. When I redownloaded it I lost full access & am getting issues getting it back. I’m very disappointed. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Best Emoji for Black Women *2020-05-08, version 1.2* I hear a lot of black women making negative comments about this app. First of all, this is the best app ever, because there has never been an app that describe us as intelligent, classy, black, beautiful women in various shades of our skin tone in 3D, like Pixar!!! Come on ladies!!! There’s no Disney movie that represents us as like this app! Also, there’s no app that compare to this one, because the others are like cartoonish or non life like characters. Napturalista Emojis are life like to me, and my avatar in describing my emotions when I text family & friends. I can tell you their impressed! Let’s appreciate and not discriminate when you believe this app doesn’t meet only 10-15% of your expectations.
