A dollar or so a month is not a huge amount but if you’re going to do that then I’ll have some criticisms: You better have fixed that dialogue problem with google docs where it will take sentences in quotations, split them in half and put the second half on a line before the first half. I can’t check rn but you should fix that thx. I’ll probably cave and get the subscription soon but the couple days it was gone I’ve found some other solutions(not as good but functional) so I might be able to avoid it.. **Developer response:** There was an issue with iPads in the previous update, it has already been fixed. Request: would be great if we could have an option in Settings that would allow us to have the narrator’s voice skip predefined parts of a text. I’m using this app to have it read lots of texts that have numbered citations and verse numbers and the app reads the texts but it also reads the numbers too because it doesn’t know that I doesn’t need to read them out loud. Example: rather than reading only the words in a bible verse, it reads the number of the verse too. ### 5/5 — Phenomenal text-to-speech *2023-07-10* I use it to listen to my epubs and the voices are all standard iPhone AI voices. They work just fine, and you could listen to any amount for free, offline, and off app. I have two stories uploaded, both well over 400k words, and I’ve been a happy listener since. Though, the sizes are so huge the book files are separated into parts. There IS a subscription premium, but that’s only if you want to make an audio file from your files to save somewhere else without any character limits. But you don’t really need it if you plan to listen on your phone. If I could suggest any improvements, they’d be minor like the ability to create folders or different file views as they’re only in list form right now. ### 5/5 — Best one *2023-04-22* Thanks for this great app! You can read the book or click on any line and it will start reading there. I have no idea why the developers of Apple decided to remove this better text to speech voice from the standard settings but I’m glad to have it back again. The other big app(speechify) only has the new voice iOS voice as free and its very robotic and awkward and reads punctuation out loud so don’t bother with it. This app is the best! And free! Thank you! I’ve only used it for epubs so far and it was very smooth and easy! (Used it for docs now too. The voices are not expressive enough, and a way to fix that is maybe having a setting that changes the emotion of the voice that’s speaking. It’s also not realistic enough, which means that it’s WAY too AI and nothing that says “I’m a real human!” in the voices. And the way they read, geez it sounds like that they don’t wanna be there. That they sound so bored and have no life in them. 100% deleting the app. But the opinion that matters most is the app’s creators. If they feel like that suggestions by viewers should be done, then they’ll do so! If not, then they wouldn’t. No matter how many times you beg them. Their app, their choice. So that’s what i have to say, to the app’s creators, and the viewers. Goodbye! ### 4/5 — Ripped off *2025-07-09* I got scammed out of $37.08 for triple subscription of same app same overlapping year. I Got my 1st premium subscription to narrator app for 1yr on July 1st (free 1yr app advice offer). Then a week later when i tried to use app I found out none of the premium features were available, so I hit “restore previous purchase “ from inside narrator app. Well IT CHARGED ME for 2 more CONCURRENT years / MAKING THAT a total of 3 subscriptions for the same one year on same Apple ID - charges $00.00 on July 1st, then $14.99 then $19.99 on July 5-6 for total theft of $37.08. I reported this to Apple & it refunded me $14.99 BUT DENIED refund of $19.99, I realized i didn’t mention date of prior acquisition for the same one year just a few days prior for FREE with AppAdvice promotion. Take Note: at time of the $14.99 & $19.99 charges I already HAD a current subscription that I ACQUIRED July 1st for the exact same timeframe . them charging me $14.99 & $19.99 under “restore purchase” is THEFT by deception. They have refunded $14.99 but owe me $19.99 also. So want my $20 refunded now. Additionally Please make sure I can still access to premium features as per the 1yr i acquired at $0.00 from July 1st. Send me my REFUND FOR $19.99 now or credit card fraud will be reported to my CC. I’m a kid who loves making stories, and I was able to put it on this app! I do wish that the voices were more expressive, but I understand that’s probably impossible. Overall, 5/5 stars! I loved this app, but unfortunately I decided to delete it. Two things were very difficult for me. First, you must type your story at once, because you cannot save it. Once you log out, you may not continue with your project. Second, the voices are ear splitting. They are so AI that if you listen to them, you can even hardly recognize what they are saying! Thus, making my experience not enjoyable. My only complaint is that sometimes the app will only play if I leave the app open with my screen still on which I think is a glitch.
