### 4/5 — Could use some UI updates

*2024-04-10*

The user interface isn’t the greatest. I would love to review transects from somewhere other than Tumon Bay and the field guides could use more detail and need to be updated. Otherwise, I hope that this info is still being used!

### 4/5 — Need more info for Tumon Bay

*2023-05-21*

So I have been using this app for months. Not to be rude but this is a citizen science app not a coloring page for your toddler! If you cannot read or just don’t want to, please don’t think this app is for you! I keep reviewing transects for Tumon Bay. I don’t know why but I feel like a lot of the pictures are getting misidentified by users. There are some new classifications used in the Tumon Bay area that I feel people are misunderstanding. I had to go online to figure out what a fire coral looks like and I’m not sure everyone knows the difference between beach sand and underwater sand. when there’s an anthropogenic object I think that may need defined. It would be nice if NASA uploaded definitions for the new classifications specific to Tumon Bay. That way everyone using the app is on the same page!

### 5/5 — Really great Idea

*2022-01-25, version 2.5*

This game is a genius idea! This game lets you help out the oceans from wherever you are. It’s also really fun. Over all a really great thing.

### 4/5 — Nemo

*2021-11-20, version 2.5*

Neat app, but my fingers are huge and I might be better off with a pen ! Very nice experience though. Wonderfully relaxing music too

### 5/5 — Loving the reef!

*2021-10-18*

I’m a novice reef tank hobbyist. While searching for coral guide apps I came across this app. Really happy that one of NASA’s focuses is reef preservation across the globe. Corals are such amazing animals and true treasures on this planet. This app is in fact very educational and I really enjoy reading about facts of each coral type. Really happy to see many people who are passionate about ocean conservation joining this community.

### 5/5 — Great

*2021-10-11*

Very easy to follow the guidelines and to get the hang of the game! And doing something good at the same time! I really hope this will help and be useful

### 5/5 — good

*2021-05-27, version 2.4*

good

### 5/5 — Funktioniert und macht Spaß

*2021-05-19*

Top.

### 5/5 — A great excuse to buy an iPad Pro and pencil

*2021-05-11*

This is essentially an adult coloring book but instead of having an mediocre piece of art you are gifted with the knowledge that we are better exploring and documenting our oceans. Really neat. It would be nice if there was a voice recording of the coral names.

### 5/5 — This game is so educational and entertaining!

*2021-05-04, version 2.5*

Dear creators,
This is great to paint coral, get mail, and also get badges and fish.It also say the information about the corals. I loved the videos. It is simple but educational for everyone. I wish there is part 2 to enjoy. There are no complaints. This is my favourite game ever. It is addictive but fun to play. The tutorial has clear instructions. I love everyone who made this.

Hope to write to you soon. Thanks.

Sincere regards to all of you.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2021-05-03*

The game is a little slow to load, but it’s extremely well done given it is crowdgathering input to classify corals. I wish I had studied marine biology and I’m overjoyed to have the opportunity to learn. Its a great colouring and spatial orientation practice, it’s relaxing and one a day helps the corals in a way. :)

### 5/5 — Willkommen unter Wasser

*2021-04-28*

### 5/5 — NASA Quality

*2021-04-28, version 2.5*

Stoked there’s a way to conduct citizen science from my phone! Learning tons about the ocean’s invertebrates without even trying. Would recommend this app for all.

### 5/5 — An easy way to make an impact

*2021-04-27*

This is such an awesome concept because it mobilizes people from across the world to make a huge difference from their phones. 10/10 would recommend

*2021-04-27, version 2.5*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

*2024-11-01, version 2.4*

### 1/5 — Bad quality

*2024-10-18, version 2.5*

Was fun at first but now it keeps bringing me to a “connecting to server” and no matter how long I wait it doesn’t put me in the game.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2023-04-06, version 2.5*

Found this app straight from NASA website and sadly the app will not connect to server. Unfortunately the support email is not a valid email address. Bummer.

### 1/5 — Can't play on mac without a mouse!

*2020-04-19*

I found the controls very difficult as I do not have a mouse and it was impossible to play using the laptop mousepad. I couldn't complete the tutorial.

### 1/5 — error

*2020-04-14, version 1.0*

El juego no inicia

### 2/5 — cannot skip the tutorial....

*2021-05-22*

cannot skip the tutorial.
Blocked in a loop at the begining.

### 3/5 — Fantastic concept, but needs work

*2021-09-20, version 2.5*

The vibe is great. The graphics are cool. The tools are simple and straight forward. But holy moly, the number of new names of classifieds which are crammed into you is overwhelming. There’s no way in hell I’m going to remember even two of those convoluted Latin-type concoctions in a sitting, let alone 6+ new ones.. Every new coral to classify is adorned with a new type to try an discern, and it’s irritating to have to open the directly thing every time to double check. Could you not rather slowly introduce the new types? In phases? Say classify 10 3D pieces in one type (that mushroom fungi one, or green algae, or invertebrates or whatever) before introducing a new one? I honestly just cried out “Hell, No! Not another one!” And closed the app. You say this app is for ages 4+, but I’m 33 and reconsidering my competency. I would love to encourage my students to get into this, but I tell you, I’m not convinced that any of them (Grades 4-5) will even get past what I tried. The idea for this app is beyond phenomenal, but you need to fork out some cash dolla for a legit gaming designer. Perhaps have easy nicknames for classifier types, with accessible reference to the scientific names. Funky sounds playing, ways to tell if you got it right or wrong. It need to be more engaging for it to really work. If funds really are just too tight, then crowds source, or look into gaming-design communities for contenders who are concerned about this cause. This really can work better and be more effective. App games are so popular right now, and will probably always be at the rate technology and the digital world is developing. Game design is huge, and you need make this a competitive activity for adults & kids.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2020-04-19, version 2.2*

I really want to do this project but the app has crashed several times and i lost my work. :(

### 3/5 — Got stuck at 2d

*2020-04-18*

I can’t close the menu that tells you about 2d mode

### 3/5 — Great idea, walkthrough examples would be useful

*2020-04-16, version 2.2*

I think this is an excellent idea and fun to use app. This app could be made better, and the data higher fidelity, if walkthrough examples of coral classification and satellite data by an expert is included. Knowing how an expert approaches a classification and getting inside tips would make everyone’s time better spent.
