Although I like the Biblical translation it’s difficult to stay focused after some of these jarring interruptions. Pick better sponsors! I’d rather have an extra ad instead of the violence. ### 4/5 — Audio bible *2023-08-18, version 3.1* Of all the new American Standard Bible audio versions I’ve listened to, I like this one best. The reader does not rush through the verses, so I have time to think about them, and the tone in his voice is pleasant and easy to listen to. The downside of this program is that I can only get it to read one chapter at a time and then I have to advance to the next chapter and press play again. The titles of various sections are lumped in with the verses so you don’t know if it’s part of the verse or just a heading describing the next part of the passage. Pro: you can mark a chapter as read if you are reading through the Bible in a year, but wait, the marking feature occasionally marks a whole lot read automatically in the table of contents that you didn’t actually mark and you have to get down to the actual chapter and inspect it individually to see where you really are. It is perfect for when the teacher gives out single verses to take turns reading. The verses are easy to look up and the font size goes up to huge, which is great for sight impaired or seniors. The ads, if one should pop up, is at the bottom and doesn’t make a noise so it doesn’t’t interfere with anything. And it even has a feature that isolates each verse so it takes up the whole screen. The purchase version advertises an “offline mode” yet doesn’t provide an easily visible way for the user to go offline. The audio version sounds like a robot from a bad sci-fi movie. If you use this, please only use the free version and be prepared to be interrupted a lot by pop up ads for in-app purchases.
