The app does not honor that request of limiting access of my calendar and there seems to corrosion to all “Full Access To My Calendar” in order to save the rentals in my calendar. There is no legal justification National Rent-A-Car should have access to my full calendar. ### 1/5 — Ridiculous app, does not work *2026-03-27, version 6.12* I have treid calling national Car rentals 4 times now to fix the problem on app and no one has answer to it. They want you to call in and talk to an agent from another country that can barely speak English and mess up your whole rental agreement. What going on with that national why we can’t extend our rental from the app anymore? App used to work fine. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Inaccessible receipts. *2026-08-07, version 6.15* I absolutely hate the way National does receipts, to the point that I avoid renting with them even though they have a better selection of vehicles. The app demands FULL ACCESS TO PHOTO LIBRARY, to give you a receipt which is just a long skinny screenshot. There is absolutely no reason for this. Have you people never heard of a .pdf? You have to go to the website to get a normal receipt document but it is unnecessarily pretty and thus 2 pages long. Look at a hertz receipt for how to do it right. Clean, simple, concise, and easy for automated expense platforms to read. ### 1/5 — Cancellation *2026-07-31, version 6.15* “This reservation cannot be cancelled.” I have to call…like it’s the stone ages. ### 1/5 — “An error has occurred. When I click it, I keep getting this error in every browser: This site can’t be reached http’s server IP address could not be found. Try: Checking the connection ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED Checked or tried the following and nothing resolves the issue: Private relay is off, tried multiple browsers, vpn off, cell and wifi, wifi with airplane mode, deleted and reinstalled app, restarted phone, checked browser settings, searched online and it says multiple users reported this issue and no solution found. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Keeps logging me out *2026-01-27, version 6.11* Something changed. The app used to keep me logged in. Now the app logs me out every day. Wish the calendar didn’t need full permission. “Add Events Only” should be enough for adding reservations to your calendar. I suggest you take care of him or another employer will. He always gives great customer service. One example is when I was talking about an issue I had with a car rental with his coworker, his coworker said he would not be able to resolve it, Spencer overheard and spoke up. Spencer said hold on a few minutes, let me finish with the customer I’m with now and I can help you. Less than 10 min later I was walking away issue resolved. When I walk in to get my rental I always prefer to go through Spencer. By the way rarely give written reviews. This is like maybe my 2nd or 3rd ever, I’m 45 years old. ### 5/5 — Rentals *2023-07-29, version 5.4* Never have an issue with National. Great service. ### 5/5 — Excellent trip thanks to National. *2023-07-18, version 5.4* The car we rented was a Cadillac XT5. The car was clean and great on gas. The seats were quite uncomfortable compared to my Cadillac CTS that I drive daily. This of course is not the fault of National. The reservation and rental process was a efficient as, I feel it could have been. The return process was even more seamless. Good job to the clerks at the counters and the app for making the trip more easy.
