### 1/5 — No access to downloaded issues with discontinuation of app

*2024-09-16*

I read with dismay your email announcing the discontinuation of Nat Geo’s Mobile App. And, more importantly, I would not have access to the issues I had downloaded. While I can appreciate your organization wanting to reduce the costs of maintaining your app, please reconsider your plans for discontinuation of the Nat Geo Mobile App. Not everyone has access to the Internet 24/7. At the very least , please reconsider your plans for deactivating the ability to read downloaded issues.

I have been a subscriber to National Geographic for decades. I have used the paper and digital subscription for years. The ability to download issues had been extremely important when my husband and I did not have access to the Internet, which was for extended periods of time. Due to a recent move, we could not bring years of paper issues with us. We donated them to a Veterans group library. We had counted on digital access to National Geographic.

Please reconsider your discontinuation plans. Please reconsider your plans for deactivating the ability to read downloaded issues. Some readers, including teachers around the world, have limited access to the Internet.

### 1/5 — Dear Disney

*2024-09-10*

Because you are discontinuing this app, I have lost the last true reason to subscribe to any Disney app. I will continue to be a Nat Geo supporter and subscriber because it has been a grand theme of the last 5 decades of my life—so you will still be making money off of that. But for some of us who grew up poring over the pages of the glossy magazines that turned our childhood homes into tinderboxes, this app on an iPad is the closest approximation we have that is not a fire hazard. As glitchy as it sometimes was, I have spent hours savoring its content and format. And I will spend the last few days I have with it before you snuff it out. You may leave it online and cut off support, so it can float along like some bloated carcass on the internet until, one day, it’ll sink into obscurity. Or you may disappear it suddenly into the newest, greatest Disney+ extravaganza where its quiet, straight-forward simplicity will drown in the Star Wars/Marvel/Whatever you acquire next universe(s). Either way, you have finally given this relic a reason to renew my post-COVID library card. My local library system thanks you.

### 5/5 — Sad to see this app being shut down

*2024-08-27*

Very saddened to see this app go. Having the widget on my screen has been one of my favorite things. I will probably not subscribe, and I don’t see visiting the website often without the app. It seems like a really poor choice in today’s digital world to get rid of the app. I read an article that overall it’s been downsizing for years, which is very sad since National Geographic has been around for so many decades.

### 4/5 — Error playing videos and we’d like a kids version.

*2024-07-22*

This app is awesome however, I don’t know if I’ll continue using this app because there are a couple issues that I have noticed. Number one is that there is a problem when I try to play videos where it says error and then it says airplane this video if problem persist please see our FAQ section. that is a huge problem. Also, could you please make a kids version for kids and those of us who are either too young or don’t understand the adult version? I think that could be awesome if we had a kids version of the app. Especially since some of the games don’t work very well on mobile devices on the website. If you guys could consider doing that, that would be absolutely awesome. I love the books when I get them from the store and I have learned a lot from the kids books from National Geographic kids. It would be nice to have it in an app form as well. my favorite National Geographic kids books are the 5000 awesome facts.

### 3/5 — Dev Feedback

*2024-04-21*

Articles in the widget need to refresh more frequently. The same four articles have displayed all week, significantly diminishing the usefulness of having a widget. Perhaps include articles from the past, if you’ve run out of “most recent” articles to display. Ideally, after an article in the widget has been clicked/read, it would no longer display in the widget and be replaced by a different article. I’d rather see more frequent refreshes, even if they are older articles, than simply see the latest published.

### 5/5 — Nat Geo app

*2023-12-19*

I love National Geographic magazine and have always read it when my grandfather bought it for my sister and I. My only criticism is that if you have a subscription with Disney plus and the Disney Plus Bundle that it be included with your subscription so that you can read any issue without having to pay for another subscription. always love the writing style that the magazine covers and very informative, plan on using this educational resource for my social studies classes in the future.

### 1/5 — Absolutely awful- 0 customer support

*2023-11-20*

Wow. The truth. If you can get access, great stuff. But my digital subscription won’t link to app or online. No matter what I do, won’t give me access. Logged in to account? Of course and all my information is there verifying account and history. Still pushes me to subscribe while I’m logged into my account!!!
OK, seek help from customer support. Ha! I have emailed for months. Nothing. Tried to chat multiple times. No one ever gets on. Try calling. Wait, wait, wait. In 6 months no one has ever contacted me. A worthless digital subscription that I’ve been cheated out using. Read what they allow but never subscribe because it won’t matter. Hoping this review gets someone, anyone’s attention.

### 5/5 — National Geographic Review

*2023-11-07*

National Geographic is the best. It has amazing photography and lots of scientific proven information that’s explained for the average person. It also shows biases, and theories and explains them along with information that don’t support the claim. It has a wide variety of topics to explore with lots of detail and multiple people who work hard behind the scenes to give the best information. The only negative part about it is that they can over exaggerate animal fights and predators leaving people with knowledge that makes people these amazing animals as dangerous, violent and vicious. Although they do inform people about their behavior and adaptations that help them compete in this ever changing world it gives them a bad reputation. Which leads people to want to harm them instead of protecting them from their already dwindling numbers ( such as sharks). National Geographic provides awesome information with lots of facts and details and gives both biases on topics. But some of the biases content can be perceived wrong.

### 1/5 — Updated review - increasingly frustrated

*2023-10-23*

In my initial review, I mentioned that articles could not be downloaded and then viewed offline. After multiple emails back and forth and calls with technical support, I was informed that the “download” feature within the app does not actually allow for you to view the articles when offline (I.e., not connected to wifi). Instead, it was recommended that I “save” the articles by essentially “printing to pdf” which can only be done via the website, and not the app. While doing this technically works, it isn’t pretty and most of the associated images are not included in the pdf. It is also ridiculous that these extra steps are necessary, for something that should be easily done via the app. I cannot comprehend how this oversight continues to go without a fix. The error occurs on both my iPad and iPhone, and plenty of others have mentioned the same issue in their reviews of the app. One of the main reasons I subscribe is to read while offline, and apparently this is simply not possible. Ridiculous.

### 3/5 — So fed up with this app!

*2023-10-11*

I’ve been subscribed to National Geographic for over fifty years. Love the magazine. Love the app too when it decides to recognize me!!! I don’t know what the change was but now it has decided I’m not a subscriber, apparently since I didn’t subscribe through Apple. What use is the app to me when it will not let me read any of the premium articles that I should have access to through my subscription. I’m not only ready to dump the app but to not renew my mail subscription. I only take it now for my grandchildren.
