### 2/5 — Awful

*2026-06-23, version 4.4.16*

Unfortunately this app is pretty awful to be honest. They can’t even get liquid glass correct as toggling between the options doesn’t even show you which option you’re on as it’s all blacked out. They really need a major overhaul of this app and look to implementing digital membership cards, which can be added to Apple wallet which will be a huge improvement. They also need to change the navigation and layout of the app to make it more easier to use

### 3/5 — Ok but…..

*2026-05-02, version 4.4.16*

The app is good BUT….
Whilst the app is great at telling you what’s near you and something about the property the information varies greatly from place to place. Some allow you to download a map, others don’t even when the map does exist (but you have to go to the NT webpage to find it).
The app used to allow you to record where you’ve been. Really useful if you wanted to go back to somewhere or to find new places. Why was this removed?
Why can’t we have electronic NT cards in the app or linkable with Apple wallet?

### 4/5 — Room for improvement

*2026-04-16, version 4.4.16*

I’m new to National Trust and this app is great for finding places to enjoy as you travel around.
For me it would be useful to be able to preselect favourites that you’d like to visit and to rate them after you have visited.
Also be handy to link to membership in case you forget your card.

### 3/5 — Great App but lacking extras

*2026-04-07*

I would have absolutely given this app 5 stars as it’s easy to navigate and has brilliant information on it. However the lack of being able to login with you card and add favourite places (which you used to be able to do) is now a real let down. It would also be useful to see what is actually free or not with your membership as the price section just indicates prices for all. This app has so much potential and with the amount of places and members using the platform I’m amazed it hasn’t been resolved yet as I can see from other reviews that this problem has been going on a while. We’ve taken a 3yr break from NT membership joining other groups instead. The app needs updating as soon as possible please.

### 3/5 — Needs an upgrade

*2026-04-06, version 4.4.16*

It would be great if you could mark the ones you’ve visited. Needs to be more interactive.

### 2/5 — Basic - no membership features

*2026-03-14, version 4.4.16*

I’ve just joined the National Trust and received my paper membership card in the post. As I do not usually carry my wallet, I was hoping I could log into the app and rely on my phone to access properties rather than having to remember where my membership card is.
It seems like a fairly basic, but essential feature to bring the National Trust into the 2020s.

### 2/5 — Useful basic app

*2026-03-14, version 4.4.16*

The app is fairly basic, it is OK for use on the move rather than visiting the website but I'm surprised that a major organisation like the Nat Trust is still stuck in the 90's when it comes to membership. The app cannot be linked to your account, no digital membership, no digital card, you can't even get a temporary card without ringing customer services.

### 2/5 — Great but could be better

*2026-03-02, version 4.4.16*

I agree with other reviews. App is good for information but would be better if you could log in but also tick of places you have visited!

### 2/5 — Could do better

*2026-02-10, version 4.4.16*

One big problem is not being able to add membership cards to my Apple wallet.

### 2/5 — Missed opportunity

*2026-02-08, version 4.4.16*

My wife and I have recently joined the NT.
I downloaded the App hoping and to be honest expecting that it would give me the opportunity to download and have an electronic version of my membership card, but no.
You must have your physical card, which in 2026 does seem a little outdated.
Pity.

### 2/5 — Missing feature

*2026-01-30, version 4.4.16*

The main missing feature is to allow the app and/or Apple/Google wallet to hold the loyalty card details.
Too many cards, every retailer, club, society has a card.

### 2/5 — Helpful but…

*2026-01-17, version 4.4.15*

The app does what it says on the tin and helpfully displays locations, what’s there etc. have found the addition of saying if there’s EV chargers helpful.

BUT, as many others have said it’s really unhelpful that the card/your membership can’t be linked to the app - especially helpful if you forget your card. Perhaps something else which would help members engage with the app is the ability to see where they have been - perhaps in the style of the passport?

### 2/5 — No digital membership card?

*2025-12-30, version 4.4.15*

Some really useful information about properties, which saves having the handbook with you. But there’s no membership page or proper account details and no digital membership card. Feels like half a job was done and it was built or spec’d by someone who’s living in the past. Real shame, come on NT and get one of your young members taking the lead here!

### 3/5 — App crashes

*2025-12-28, version 4.4.14*

App crashes when I tap on one particular location. Ok for other locations

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2025-11-22, version 4.4.15*

Why no virtual membership card that I can stick in my iPhone wallet? It’s 2025

### 1/5 — Missing essential functionality

*2025-11-14, version 4.4.15*

The design overall is good and the app has nice layout. However it is impossible to log into your account and add membership card to Apple wallet which is essential. Also the map is not very interactive, some items just do not open, although clearly indicated. No apparent export to GNSS for walks or OS.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-11-13, version 4.4.15*

What a waste of time this app is, why on earth can’t you have a digital card on it, you can’t even add your card to Wallet

### 1/5 — Shameful! It could be so much better!

*2025-11-09, version 4.4.15*

This app has so much potential but it was like it was developed on a Friday afternoon! Where is the digital membership card integration? Account management on the app? Membership perks?

This a poor representation of what the organisation offers! Do better National Trust

### 3/5 — Improvement suggestions

*2025-11-02, version 4.4.15*

A link to Membership card is a must and a tick list of ‘places visited’ would be a good addition to keep track on where you’ve visited and inspire you to go to others.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lacking digital card copy

*2026-04-14, version 4.4.16*

Only real use of the app for me would be a digital membership card as I’m not someone that always carry’s a wallet. Can’t understand why a member ship card or way to add the card to your Apple wallet isn’t a feature of the app. The app features are only what I would look up on the website anyway, won’t be keeping the app or using it.

### 1/5 — Get with the times

*2026-03-29, version 4.4.16*

Please for the love of god get with the times and allow your membership cards to be added to apple wallet. Your app is going backwards.

### 1/5 — Is it really 2026 for NT?

*2026-02-22, version 4.4.16*

No digital membership cards, login or Apple Wallet? I’m sure you can afford a developer that can do that easily!

### 1/5 — Why no login?

*2026-02-15, version 4.4.16*

Removing the functionality to add your membership pass is ridiculous. Some of us don’t carry physical cards anymore.

### 1/5 — No membership card functionality

*2026-02-08, version 4.4.16*

Downloaded it when we forgot our membership card. Realised there’s no option to login / virtual card function. Seems a basic function that most companies use their apps for.

### 1/5 — Apple wallet

*2026-01-21, version 4.4.16*

I have given up attempting to add my membership card into my apple wallet after trying for half an hour. What a complete waste of time. Some direct instructions from the NT on the app would be helpful. I’d likely get more information from the National Theatre! Highly frustrating and extremely disappointing. If they can’t sort his out. I won’t renew next year.

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2026-01-18, version 4.4.15*

This app lacks the main function- the ability to have a digital version of your membership card! It doesn’t do anything special or better than the website. Don’t waste the space on your phone.

### 1/5 — What a waste of an opportunity

*2026-01-17, version 4.4.15*

An utterly pointless app really, it is nothing more than a website really…misses a massive opportunity to reduce its footprint and take the membership card online via a Wallet card or QR code that can be scanned… This isn’t 2001!?

### 1/5 — Pointless App

*2025-12-30, version 4.4.15*

I don’t see any reason this App exists. It simply reproduces the website property search. You’d expect a member log in and the ability to add your membership cards to a digital wallet at least but no. It just needlessly occupies storage space on your device 🤷

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2025-12-25, version 4.4.15*

How in 2025 can you have an app that doesn’t store your membership details! Conflicting opening times provided & no price information for non members. Pointless, we just use the website instead.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Really useful

*2026-03-26, version 4.4.16*

Very useful National Trust app. I’ve seen people complaining about not being able to link memberships or favourite places, but honestly it doesn’t take away from how useful the app actually is.

It’s great for discovering National Trust locations, with info and especially easy to find places nearby when you’re out and about. Simple, handy, and does the job really well.

Definitely worth having if you enjoy visiting National Trust spots 👍

### 5/5 — Does what I need

*2024-08-31, version 4.4.11*

Can’t believe so much negativity abounds, the app is fine for what it is. Lets me know where places are, opening times, parking, tea rooms, bookshops etc. Better than leafing through a book.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2023-10-22*

Ignore the wingers moaning about not having a digital card in the app. I’m going to review the app for what it is. To find places to visit. Map view: Shows every location you need. Just simply tap a location and the map will zoom in to that location. You can then tap for more information, opening times and directions. Directions: Fantastic feature. Just tap directions, then the app will ask you if you want to use Apple or Google maps. Assuming you have either or both installed. Filter: Tap filter then you can choose what you like. From house and buildings, coast, countryside and garden and parks. This will then only show places within that filter. This app is well made and the developers have done a fantastic job. It serves it’s purpose. To find a National Trust place to visit. Simple to use and easy to navigate.

### 5/5 — What the app does, it does well

*2023-09-05*

A lot of reviews are penalising this app for things it does not do, and does not suggest that it does.

This is not a replacement for your card but instead an app to help you find out what’s going on in your local area and around the country, to get the most out of your membership.

Within minutes of using the app, I discovered four events we would love to attend and had no idea were going to happen.

If you’re looking for something to do last minute or later in the year, the app is simple and easy to use to quickly find out what’s going on, add the events to your calendar, and book tickets with.

Yes, the other reviews highlight great feedback for the developers and I do hope they listen, but as a “Days Out” app, it absolutely succeeds in quickly guiding you to things you do for a wonderful day out.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2021-09-01*

Loving the app so far, nice and simple and makes it so easy to choose your next visit. A few suggestion from me: - A ‘Discover’ page to find new places which you wouldn’t see based on your location, but you might consider working in to your next trip. This could also encourage visits to less known sites. - Icons or tags to highlight key elements of a site: grounds for walking on, a property to look around, gardens, cafe etc. as it is nice to have that information immediately. - It would be good to be able to change the location of your searches. This is essentially what the map is doing but I would like if I could temporarily select a new location, say if I’m going on holiday in the UK. I could then see sites closest to me for when I’m there. - Make sure every location has at least one image - Mobile tickets and passes (I know you’re already working on this) Thanks and Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — Super!

*2019-10-03, version 4.3.0*

Tolle App!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2017-12-03*

Perfect app that works offline as well. Me and my wife travel the uk in our old VW camper van and this app is perfect for finding national trust locations on our adventures. It has a map with all the local places and postcodes has information about the place and any events that are on in the area you are in. You can safe the places you have been to and make a collection and also save places you would like to visit. You can also change the searches to find walks and beaches if you like and this all works with no internet connection so it's perfect for when we have no wifi we can still find our favourite places and make new memories

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your review of the National Trust app. We really appreciate all your positive feedback and if you have any ideas or suggestions for new features please drop us an email to appfeedback@nationaltrust.org.uk Best wishes Matt

### 5/5 — Quality app here

*2017-06-26*

I don't often leave reviews... this one is well worth it. This app does a fantastic job of displaying current details (operating hours, a brief summary of the location, etc...) for each place within so many miles your specified location, without smothering you with info. Fantastic job here. Great resource to have at your fingertips! Thank you.

### 5/5 — Awesome upgrade

*2015-07-06, version 3.0.0*

This new version is really awesome

### 5/5 — eccellente

*2012-12-10, version 1.5.9*
