### 2/5 — Great app, but US ONLY

*2024-08-19*

most features are unavailable in canada

### 3/5 — Frustrating to figure out

*2024-02-26*

I’ve searched and searched on how to use a friend’s map route when recording. I cannot figure this out. All Trails is very easy to follow a friend’s route. Any help appreciated

### 4/5 — Beautiful maps

*2023-10-06*

Still beautiful maps and overall improved experience since the team has re-engaged in updates. Suggestions for improvements would be to add blue lines for backcountry streams and creeks that are obscured by topography in the Satellite Imagery, and also more utilizing comprehensive public land sources.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t Have Canadian Data

*2023-08-01*

The app and the features are fantastic…. If you’re within the US.

I would seriously consider purchasing a subscription if the features available in the US were also available for Canada .

### 4/5 — Really good!

*2023-05-13*

I’ve been using All Trails for quite a while. Natural Atlas has features that All Trails does not. In some ways Natural Atlas is so much better!!

### 5/5 — Just get it already

*2021-05-21*

I don’t write reviews ever but this is the best app I’ve ever owned and it felt unfair to not give the developers credit, I don’t use it for the typical hike, bike, camping aspects of the app that they portray. If you are a fisherman get it. I track all of my floats, wades and trips. It shows elevation changes, average speed, miles etc. and you can add notes for each trip, best app Ive ever owned and I won’t go on a trip even if it’s just to a small creek to wade without it.

### 4/5 — Has potential

*2021-05-05*

The ocean topography map is awesome, however it feels the features are quite limited. Would be cool if we could input our own gps coordinates rather than only taking what the phone reads or even measuring distances, etc

### 3/5 — Once the best. Now neglected.

*2021-04-03*

When I first started using Natural Atlas, I was confident that I had found the best app for recording my hikes. It didn’t have all the trails I sought, but the developers were very responsive and mapped new trails within a few weeks of someone recording them.

Then, all of a sudden, their base maps stopped working. The developers said they were aware of the issue, and would be releasing an update to fix it soon.

That was 2.5 years ago.

It’s been 3 years since this app has been updated, and it’s quickly falling from favor in my books.

Maps that don’t load, and the lack of development are sure to be the nail in this once-great app.

### 5/5 — AMAZING!!

*2020-11-08*

State of Colorado uses your maps and it’s absolutely the BEST outdoor map I’ve ever came across! Easy to read! Now only if you can get other states aboard for there trails and camp sites would be AMAZING

### 3/5 — Satellite option has never worked

*2020-09-22, version 1.3.0*

Need to get the satellite map working!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Another Bad Mapping App

*2026-05-24*

Natural Atlas says that it has very detailed maps. So, I look at the area I live in, Las Vegas, and the detail is about the most pathetic I’ve seen on any mapping app. I can’t imagine using a GPS app where the detail is almost nonexistent. Definitely won’t be using and definitely won’t be paying for it.

### 1/5 — Difficult to use, no international trails. No response from customer service. Don’t try free trial.

*2025-10-12, version 4.7.1*

Very difficult to use, no response from customer service…….

### 1/5 — Not transparent about cost

*2025-09-25*

The description of the app makes no mention of cost. I downloaded it and then found out the price. I decided I decided I didn’t want to pay it, so I immediately deleted it. I hope that I don’t get charged.

### 1/5 — Only for USA

*2024-08-08, version 4.7.1*

Only basic features for AU and NZ

### 1/5 — All they want is money!

*2024-07-14, version 4.7.1*

They won’t allow you to see anything without paying upfront! There’s too many other apps with way more free info!

### 1/5 — Used to love it

*2024-04-26, version 4.7.1*

I used to love this app but all the updates force you to pay. Before you would be able to download a couple blocks for free but not anymore. Truly disappointing

### 1/5 — Not for iPad

*2023-07-15, version 4.2.0*

Will not reposition on iPad for landscape.

### 1/5 — Incomplete offline features for Australia

*2023-05-08, version 4.1.0*

I purchased a year subscription and the offline map/gps features are in complete. Hopefully fixed soon.

### 1/5 — No support for Alaska

*2023-05-04, version 4.1.0*

There is no support for Alaska beyond the generic world topo, click to trail feature doesn’t work, no sat imagery etc.

### 1/5 — Missing functionality

*2023-05-03, version 4.1.0*

Seems to be missing most of the functionality for Australia but still charging the full price.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing app!

*2025-07-07*

Love this app! Use it all the time to track hikes, find hikes, take pictures, document, and explore! This app needs to be used more!

### 5/5 — Do yourself the favor of downloading this

*2024-08-27*

Unbelievable amounts of information. This is EXACTLY what I’ve always wanted for trail and park info. Incredible effort was put forth by people who clearly love the outdoors. Outstanding work!

### 5/5 — Incredible

*2023-09-08, version 4.7.1*

Such thoughtful UI and UX and beautiful detailed maps! I love the public private land layer!!

### 5/5 — 👍👍

*2023-08-13*

Please add family sharing to subscriptions 🖖🏼

### 5/5 — Super useful, why no one finger zooming?

*2023-07-14*

Love the app. Usually I use COTREX, but I’m not always in Colorado! One issue I run into though is you can’t do the trick where you tap and then tap and slide your finger to zoom. Without this feature, one handed navigation is difficult. COTREX and every other map app I’ve used allows this!

### 5/5 — One of the best trail mapping apps out there

*2023-07-05*

Natural Atlas is frankly one of the best apps for trail exploration, discovery, and navigation. It contains tons of information often only found in specialized sources, such as primitive campsites in the Adirondacks and local trails only targeted mapping organizations have covered. It’s interface and design is very comfortable, offline and map printing capability, and I’m all for supporting a small family team of outdoor enthusiasts / developers making a tool like this for everyone.

### 5/5 — Documentation

*2023-07-05*

Where can I find documentation for Natural Atlas?
I’d like to read about it, instead of having to stumble around the screen. I think I’m going to like it; reading about it , could cut the learning curve to hours not days. Thanks

### 5/5 — Natural Atlas saved me today

*2023-02-27*

I’ve tried several apps to document my kayaking trips including relive and some others. This is by far the best solution for my needs. So much detail and interesting facts about your trip provided by the app without you even trying.
NA saved me today! I got lost in Big Cypress Bayou, and I had no cell reception to use maps. Pulled up my trusty Natural Atlas app, and it had my every move recorded. I’d still be out there if it wasn’t for NA-thank you!

### 5/5 — New update the best yet

*2022-11-22, version 4.0.0*

Awesome update, love seeing planned trips easier and the simplified way to save items.

### 5/5 — This is the one

*2022-04-09, version 1.3.0*

I’ve tried several apps to document my kayaking trips including relive and some others. This is by far the best solution for my needs. So much detail and interesting facts about your trip provided by the app without you even trying. The only thing I wish it could add would be pictures, but I have a gopro for that so I’m happy as I could be with the app. Thank you!
