## What is Natural Neighbours?

Transform your neighbourhood into a thriving haven for wildlife!

Natural Neighbours is the innovative app that helps you and your community turn urban spaces into corridors of life where animals can "buzz, bloom, and sing. Whether you have a sprawling garden, a shared housing estate, or just a window box, your space is a vital piece of the puzzle. Our AI-powered platform gives you the tools to bridge the gaps in urban nature, connecting fragmented habitats to support hedgehogs, bumblebees, frogs, and song thrushes.

Why Natural Neighbours?

Nature in our cities is under threat because habitats are disconnected. A hedgehog can’t find a mate if it can’t cross the street, and a bee can’t survive without a continuous path of flowers. Natural Neighbours connects your efforts with your neighbours' to create "Nature Highways" across your entire community.

Key Features:

Personalised Habitat Advice: Tell us about your space, from balconies to schools, and get expert, site-specific tips on how to support your favourite species.

AI-Powered Nature Mapping: Use our advanced AI to identify species and assess habitat health just by taking a photo. Map your bird feeders, log piles, and wildflower patches in seconds.

See the Big Picture: Explore our interactive "Internet of Living Things" map. See what your neighbours are doing and identify what’s missing in your local area to create a complete wildlife corridor.

Spotlight Species: Choose a species you love, like the Common Frog or the Painted Lady butterfly, and follow guided projects to provide exactly what they need to thrive year-round.

Community Collaboration: Work together with neighbours, local councils, and environmental experts to coordinate large-scale greening projects that make a real impact.

Track Your Impact: Watch your neighbourhood transform in real-time as your collective efforts improve biodiversity scores and local ecosystem health.

### 2.2.2 — 2026-05-02

A lot has changed since you last updated — here are the highlights across our recent releases.

Your home, your wildlife
- You can now define the boundary of your home site and see exactly which wildlife has been spotted within it. Photos taken at home can be kept private, visible only to you — so you can record what's living in your garden without sharing it publicly.

Give your neighbourhood a name
- Put a name to the patch of nature you're helping to look after. It's yours.

Redesigned projects
- Projects now lead with tasks, making it much clearer what you can do and what's still to discover in your area.

Smarter observations
- The camera and observation flow has been rebuilt from the ground up — full-screen photos, portrait and landscape support, and faster AI identification. After you take a photo, the app tells you what it found and asks if you want to know more. Tap for a deeper look at the species and its needs.

Habitat elements
- Each species and habitat feature now shows which ecological elements it contributes — a quick way to see how the different pieces of your neighbourhood's wildlife fit together.

Illustrated species
- Wildlife species now have their own illustrated avatars, making the app feel more alive and easier to scan at a glance.

Push notifications
- Get notified when someone starts a new chat thread in your community, when a task is completed in your project, or when there's activity near your home area.

Send feedback with a screenshot
- Take a screenshot anywhere in the app and you'll be prompted to send it as feedback — no hunting for the feedback button.

Account controls
- You can now delete your account from the app. Your data is anonymised immediately, with a 30-day window to change your mind.
