### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-06-04, version 1.0.31*

Love this game, its many expansions, and replayability. Always happy to show it to new players and spread the word. Keep up the good works.

### 5/5 — Great improvement over Evolution

*2026-06-04*

I love Evolution and hesitated to download this new version because I thought it was just a money grab. I finally downloaded the free version and immediately bought the game after working through the tutorial. It’s a great improvement on the old game and definitely worth $5.

### 5/5 — Belle évolution vers Nature

*2026-06-03*

Depuis 10 ans la mécanique de ce jeu s’améliore tout en restant facile à expliquer. Il y a de la profondeur et stratégie en mélangeant les modules. Les illustrations sont superbes.
Bref du plaisir

### 5/5 — Amazing game with great artwork

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

I absolutely love this game! The artwork is amazing and the game play is easy to understand. The modular game play is amazing to be able to pick and choose expansions.

### 5/5 — Very well done board game!

*2026-06-03*

I finally have time to dive into this game and I’m loving it. This game is an “evolution” of Evolution, and it’s better in every way. The campaigns are fun, the ability to mix different modules changes up the strategy, and the AI has different levels, which is good because I’m not that great at this game yet. Very finely tuned game and it’s obvious it went through a lot of playtesting before release. Keep the modules coming!

### 5/5 — Interesting game

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

Great game that is never static, beautiful artwork.

### 5/5 — This game is awesome!

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

It’s super modular and I very much enjoy it. That being said, I definitely prefer the physical game over the digital one!

### 5/5 — A fun strategy game

*2026-06-03*

We joined the kickstarter to try the game early. I mostly play with my elementary aged son, in person, passing an iPad between the 2 of us as we play. I love the artwork and he loves science and evolution, so it’s fun for both of us. Being a digital format makes it easier to travel with and play in the car or on planes. It’s also easier to learn as the game automatically tracks all the metrics and rules for your species, which seem like it could be a lot to juggle in a traditional board game. We recently tried the natural disaster pack and loved the extra challenge that it creates in slightly changing the rules each round. It forces you to keep thinking because your go-to strategy can suddenly fail you :)

### 5/5 — Love it!!

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

I have loved this game! I’ve been a big fan of northstar games since evolution and oceans, and love the beautiful artwork and environments they put in all their games!

### 5/5 — Pretty great,

*2026-06-03*

If your looking for a board game on your phone, I’d recommend this game. And while most games you don’t really need a friend to play, it’s a lot more one with this one. You can play online, local, or AI. Along with the game itself, you can unlock more player icons and stuff by doing the campaign (more of a challenge mode). Highly recommend if looking for a board game

### 5/5 — The adaptation standard

*2026-06-03*

This should be the standard of board game to digital adaptations. Clean UI, great looking visuals, amazing expansion additions. The campaign mode with all of the different goals keeps the game fresh and exciting with all of the little twists that it has for each level. Cannot wait for the further expansion pack additions.

### 5/5 — Fun and quick game

*2026-06-03*

The game itself is learned very quickly and includes a campaign to get you on the right track but the true experience is if you buy the modules. Any you buy you can mix and match to build whatever kind of game you want. Some promote you having a good offense while others a defense. There’s a lot of potential and you’re limited only by what you happen to draw.

### 5/5 — Satisfying learning curve

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

Nature is a game that is relatively easy to pick up on its base level, that becomes much deeper when modules are added in.
The depth of interactions creates a fun space to explore and outplay the opponents while always having to adapt your play to the current environment.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

One of the best board games I’ve played digitally. Very replayable and fun.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Lacking Choice

*2026-03-09, version 1.0.22*

This is a dumbed down version of evolution…there are hardly any card variants, this is incredibly boring and underwhelming.

### 2/5 — Vertical Fail

*2026-06-02, version 1.0.31*

Ten years of app development and this game still STILL not playable vertically. Why? Do you not have phones? Do you test and design this game exclusively through an emulator? Can no one at your company conceptualize rotating the player elements 90 degrees?!

### 2/5 — Fun but limited

*2026-03-05, version 1.0.21*

Game is super fun and I love the concept as well as the actual card game, but the actual board game of evolution has way more base content than this game even does.. plus after you get to level 12 I. The campaign it level locks you until you purchase the whole game. Add more content and don't deceive about being a free game

### 4/5 — Schöne Umsetzung

*2026-07-30*

### 4/5 — Polished game based on Evolution

*2026-06-07*

I really liked Evolution from the first time I played it. Climate was awesome and really got you thinking about evolving your species to compete for food, protect it from predators and now the climate. It felt like I was playing while learning about ecosystems. But it had flaws. Nature is the evolution of that (no pun intended). The game feels polished and the modules integrate well with each other. However that is its weakness. Without the modules it feels shallow and you’ll outgrow it fast. The plus of that is that you don’t always have to play with a certain module. You can customize your gaming session to whatever style and challenge you feel up to.

### 4/5 — Tolles Brettspiel

*2026-06-03*

Sehr schönes Brettspiel. Die einzelnen Erweiterungen sind gut erklärt. Manche Challenges sind mir jedoch etwas zu glücksbasiert bzw. bieten zu wenig Abwechslung, ansonsten wären es 5 Sterne.

### 4/5 — Great Game!

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

I love this game. So much fun, I even bought the actual board game! I can play it across all my devices. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 starts is because the controls can be “clunky” on my MacBook. But on my phone and iPad, it is perfect!

### 4/5 — Great game!

*2026-06-03, version 1.0.31*

The game is great! The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because my friends and I pledged for early access and modules but can’t figure out how to access them no matter what we do!

### 4/5 — An evolution of Evolution

*2026-05-27*

Once upon a time there was a board game named Evolution. It proved popular enough that it spawned expansions and sequels and, well, evolutions. Eventually it became a bit, shall we say, unwieldy.
It was time to go back to the drawing board and incorporate everything that had gone into the prior designs and streamline them into a more modern and approachable game. That is how we have come to have Nature.
The gameplay itself is deceptively simple, and game turns go by extremely quickly. An experienced player might knock out a full game in under ten minutes. The expansion modules add considerably to the game space.
So why 4 stars and not 5? Simply that the game doesn’t really generate that emotional hook I look for in games. It still feels abstracted and I prefer games that give me good stories after. Other than that minor quibble, this is an excellent game.

### 4/5 — A Fun Evolution of The Formula (with a few minor gripes)

*2026-04-24*

I’ll start this off by saying something simple. This game is good. It takes quite a few of the mechanics and cards from the original Evolution and manages to expand on them in a lot of very different, very creative ways that make it a blast to play, especially with friends.

There’s only one real gripe that I have. A lot of the settings from the Original Evolution, particularly with the Local Game Settings, have been entirely cut. I honestly really like those settings, being able to control how long the game goes on for (because I personally think that sessions in this compared to the standard Evolution are WAY too short) would immediately make this a 5 star game for me. Being able to customize which cards show up, and which ones don’t made things much more convenient if I wanted to play a certain way on Local Play. Being able to customize different aspects of the session. That’s what I enjoy most about the original Evolution Board Game. As it stands, I feel like Nature, while fun, isn’t as customizable.

To sum it up, Nature is a good game. I just wish that it had some of the settings that the original Evolution had. With updates I could easily see this becoming one of the best games in the Evolution lineup (besides the original, of course!)

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Schönes Spiel

*2026-07-29*

### 5/5 — A first rate implementation of a fantastic board game. Impressive!

*2026-07-08*

Nature is quite simple for a modern board game, but it has layers of nuanced strategy that only become evident after several games. I’ve played and enjoyed the base game over 100 times on its own! I’ve also played individual modules another 100 times. Each of them provides a very different experience. Now I’m exploring different combinations of modules.

Overall, a great game with lots to explore.

### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-07-01*

Great game, refreshing update to the original Evolution game. New game mechanics take a bit of getting used to if you have been playing Evolution but the changes make it a bit more forgiving if you have make an early mistake.

### 5/5 — So fun!

*2026-06-27*

I loved evolution and I love nature too! You can tell a lot of love and thought went into this game. My only feedback is that I wish you could customize rules in local solo games like you can in the evolution digital version. Namely, choosing how many rounds you do and what cards to exclude. I’m hopeful this comes out in a future update

### 5/5 — Great adaptation of a favorite board game

*2026-06-25*

Nature is our favorite board game - customizability and flexibility to adapt strategy are key here. The digital version is working out a few bugs, but the developers are responsive and issues have been dealt with quickly. Looking forward to the rainforest expansion!

### 5/5 — Amazing game

*2026-06-14, version 1.0.36*

Easy to learn. Fun to play. Nice graphics.

### 5/5 — So many ways to play!

*2026-06-13, version 1.0.36*

This is such a great adaptation of the board game, and a perfect evolution of the game, Evolution!
I just tried Flight with Amazon and Jurassic, and wow! Once you understand the base game, the layers each module adds just makes this game the bees knees!

### 5/5 — Great customer support

*2026-06-09, version 1.0.35*

Thanks for fixing my issue you all rock

### 5/5 — Fun to play together

*2026-06-05, version 1.0.33*

My son and I started when he was 8 and it was easy to learn. While not “educational” on its own, we do discuss how features that help a species in the game have real examples in the real Natural world.

### 5/5 — A natural evolution of Evolution

*2026-06-04*

At first I preferred Evolution over Nature. I struggled with the new mechanics. But after going through a few games in the base campaign I started to get hooked. I just finished all the module campaigns and all I can think is I want more. I tried going back to Evolution and it kind of felt incomplete. No matter how hard I tried to do a different strategy I would always go back to my normal gameplay. With Nature, every module pulls me to try new strategies.
