I am trying to create PDFs from web pages I read so that I can store them on my laptop via DropBox. Problems I encountered: - the saved PDF does not record the date or URL on the PDF, the death knell for any serious researcher - I could not find any way to save the PDF to Dropbox. Emailing is a good second choice, but involves one more step on the laptop side. - the webpage saved to PDF was 4.9 MB compared to 672k saved to PDF from Safari on my Mac. Ouch! - On the plus side, the quality of the saved website PDF was stunning; no artifacts or wasted space. ### 4/5 — Pretty awesome! *2012-06-17* This app is really great. I was playing Diablo 3 yesterday all the while having this thing read me Wikipedia entries! The only thing I would say is be careful of the regular version because it was not that clear to me when I bought it that it doesn't read long pages. Also it's a little bit buggy sometimes when switching voices and it sometimes stops in the middle of the page for no apparent reason, but so far not enough to have it not be rated four stars because it's really awesome to be multitasking!! (Also voiceover was incredibly annoying to get working on webpages, though it is pretty good for books.) ### 4/5 — This is a very decent app for students *2012-04-07* As a student I've been scrounging the AppStore for a simple text editor with built in web functionality for research purposes. This app does just that. My only concerns are the sub retina graphics and the fact that there are almost too many features (text to speech etc). The price as well is alittle high. At $4.99 this app would be in direct competition with one of the best research apps that being Writing Kit. Please update the graphics and possibly clean up some unpopular features and I'll come back with a 5 star rating :) ### 3/5 — Super Browser mit Mängeln *2012-01-29* Grundsätzlich ein Super Programm, und der Texteditor und die Notizfunktion sind wirklich spitze. Die Übersetzungsfunktion und das Vorlesen der Seiten funktioniert einwandfrei und gut verständlich, auch wenn der übersetzte Text einen sehr oft schmunzeln lässt ... Aber leider stürzt das Programm auf meinem iPad 1 wiederholt ab, an verschiedensten Stellen. Auch erkennt es RSS Feeds auf manchen Webseiten (z.B. www.welt.de) bei mir nicht und beim direkten clicken auf einen RSS Link passiert bei mir nichts. Der Browser ist noch etwas langsam, aber akzeptabel. Wenn der Hersteller es schafft die Abstürze zu beseitigen und das Programm alle RSS Feeds, auch durch Links akzeptiert gibt es 5 Sterne. ### 5/5 — Awesome !! *2012-01-07* This is the best working text to speech software I have ever used before!!! So disappointing. It's beautiful yet useless app. I have had it for a year and kept hoping for fixes every time it's updated, but that is not the case. And so that it's clear, no other app crashes as often as this one. I give up, i am going to delete this now. Do not spend money on this app. You will be frustrated! ### 1/5 — Knowtilus Pro *2013-04-15* When I first got it was great, but I was doing some work on and now I can't get into it. All the work that I did I can get into it to print the work I did do. Im so frustrate and upset about it. These things were for my kids. It kicks my out every time. Please fix this problem. ### 1/5 — Flashy, but not useful for me *2013-03-26* I bought this app for the soul purpose of having an extended keyboard(as adverised) available for online blogging and text editing. It doesn't have the extended keyboard and when I contacted Knowtilus, they just told me to download another of their apps for text editing. But it's counter productive, because I specifically wanted the extended keyboard for online use. I'm not a fan of wasting my money when the company doesn't include features as advertised, then makes no effort to help me with it. ### 1/5 — Reality doesn't match the hype! *2012-11-11* Concepts are good but ... the implementation is poor. Even basic feature like multi-screen does not work properly. It creates notes but you only see the creation date (unlike what is shown on the promotional video)! There's no help and no support. I've wasted money but I don't want to waste time wresting with this. I've deleted it. ### 1/5 — Maybe wait for the next release *2012-11-04* Extremely slow and unresponsive on my iPhone 5 running iOS 6.01--I am genuinely unsure how much of the problem is semi-frozen slowness and how much seems to be that it ignores touches. I will, e.g., stroke 10 times on its upper introductory window, and maybe one of those will have an effect. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and rebooting the phone (I really wanted to use its text-to-speech feature), but neither helped. I was able to get it to load a web page or two, and even read a little, but it was an incredsible amount of work and waiting for anything to happen, and the text reading only read a sentence or two before stopping. The developer needs to add more features to this pro version to distinguish it from the basic version. The new web page to PDF is a great idea but the PDF created is low res so it's hard to read the text. Still no real difference to the free version. ### 1/5 — Could be the best iPhone/iPad app ever but has fatal flaws *2012-01-16* These are minor things that need to get fixed. There are a lot of problems with the text and tabs lining up correctly. I'm constantly having to use my finger to move the tab so I can see the text I'm writing. Sometimes the text disappears entirely. It's incredibly annoying. Add some of the features the guy below mentioned (removing ads from emails, email pages as PDF, sync with iCloud, etc.) and make it possible to make every link open in Knowtilus and you have a winner. Adjusting some stuff on the reading feature would be great too. The most important thing is fixing those stupid text bugs. Once that is fixed you'll have five stars from me. The rest will just be icing on the cake! ### 1/5 — Would be awesome ir it responded. *2012-01-15* This app does some incredible things but it is so unresponsive and slow it is unusable. I bought the $4 version first and it was slow and unresponisive but i thought maybe if I bought the pro version it would be better. It is exactly the same way. I'll change my review from one star to five stars if they fix it to where it works properly. What good is an app that can do incredible things if it locks up and you have to wait 10 minutes for a page to load? Great for note taking on web content because tabs make shifting between notes and websites really easy and flexible. I also love the way you can program it to read text aloud in different voices, laugh, pause, etc., and I have recommended Knowtilus to students who have some vision impairment. The interface is distinctive, not only effective but attractive and eye-catching; it's one of those apps that makes people ask what it is and where to find it. Tech support responds promptly to email and creates updates quickly but effectively. Amazing, Brilliant, Thank you.***** ### 5/5 — Fantastic Productivity Tool *2012-07-02* If you are a professional seeking to leverage the iPad in the workplace, this app is for you. I am so glad to have found it! It is a productivity tool built into a browser. Because its abilities are very broad, you may have trouble visualizing how you would use it, but once you start to understand the potential this offers - you'll agree - it is fantastic. Here are some ways to leverage this: - Reference a SharePoint project site in the browser while writing your project status report in the text window (I just did this - great!) - Review a Web site, making notes as you go. - Mark up a Web page, noting problem areas, and then e-mail an image of the marked-up Web page to to your developer to resolve the issues - Compare information on two Web pages at the same time. Note any differences in the text editor - Avoid Web application timeouts when filling out long online forms (Sharepoint users take note). Instead, show the form in the browser window - answer form questions in the text window - and then copy and paste. If you get timed out by a web page - log in again without losing your information. I am thrilled with this app. If you are a professional using an iPad as a productivity device, and you're not using this tool, it is only because you don't realize its potential. PS: I wish I had had this when I was a grad student. Taking notes while doing research, all in one iPad interface, would have been awesome. PPS: Works great with an external KB (which is what I use). (I also recommend an external KB for any professional serious about iPads in the workplace.) ### 5/5 — Excellent use of iPad functionalities *2012-06-08* I find this app immensely useful. I save articles, quotes, draw on them or make notes... As I am typing I listen to the app read another article. When I am doing research this is a must have. I also love the ability to search the internet without all of the advertisements, which are major detractors now on google and other search engines. I love his app and would recommend it for any person who needs to aquire and apply information. For the developers, I wish you could create a program or interface for the PC and Mac. ### 5/5 — very very weak..... *2012-03-08* was expecting more for the price. only 3 tabs, unhandy sketching. useless for researching or for someone who is just looking for a quick and dirty creativity tool. the reading aloud function is ok. if you are looking for something for barrier free browsing. also the extended keyboard is nice there. ally have to wonder why that is not ipad standard... left and right bottons! i would pay 4.99 to have that always. also when writing this review not even useful for sharing commented webpages. i work a lot on wikis an web based tools.... i thought i had found something here, but this is clearly mot worth the price. have a hard time thinking about what it might be useful for. and i already bought the pro version.... and also i wonder why i see 3.5 stars in the overview, but here it says not enough votes for a rating........ damn this store..... ### 5/5 — Great Research and Communications Tool *2012-01-11* Great tool to collect and share information on the web. My favorite features are the integrated text editor that lets me copy and paste and comment on web content, without leaving the web browser. I also find myself frequently using drawing tools in combination with the snapshot tool and the email function. Great way to share web content with very quickly and with little effort.
