The dials for setting chords and timing seem to often not line up with what's labeled (like I'll select 3 beats but it will give me 4 instead), and at one point it just stopped letting me edit chords altogether, even after closing the app and restarting my device. I ended up having to reinstall it to get it to work. But if it weren't for those issues I'd give it a 4 or 5. ### 4/5 — Super, aber: *2025-11-30* Super Konzept, UI leider ziemlich umständlich. Skalen umschalten sollte z.B. im Main Fenster möglich sein, nicht mit 4 Klicks, die man JEDES MAL wieder drücken muss. I like the ability to play chords with one finger. There’s a helpful diagram to show how to play different chords although this could be expanded. It sure would be great to have the chords translated on a guitar fretboard as an option. I think the functionality of the app could be improved say if you move your finger in a designated space and the notes shifted upwards in pitch or downward expanding the notes of the cord. Also it would be great to have some sort of velocity control. It would be really great to have an actual playable instrument. Something similar to GeoShred complete with some really great sounds. It also would be great to be able to change the orientation of the notes to mirror image or rotate the sequence. So I could match my other isotonic. One thing that’s a little annoying is that it’s easy for your finger just to veer off a little bit and play a bunch of notes that you did not intend to play. Geo shred seems to handle this with some sort of curve so it keeps you within the boundaries. It seemed like it would be a great feature to have more notes on the screen and actually have a playable instrument. So far this app helps me with understanding intervallic theory and constructing chords. It was very difficult to use ### 3/5 — Smart layout but no touch sensitivity *2024-08-13* Really well laid out for creating inspiring combinations of chords and notes. The problem is that that there’s no touch sensitivity, so every chord or every note you play comes out at the same velocity as the last one, which prevents this from being a performance or recording tool. It forces you to take the chords and such you come up with here and then play them in another MIDI controller app. There is a setting for adjusting the velocity, but it only moves the velocity of every chord you play up or down to to that velocity. ### 4/5 — Time for an update ? *2024-07-12* Just found this app and am really enjoying it’s capabilities. Overall I think this app is very helpful. ### 4/5 — Great, but with one missing feature *2023-01-21* Navichord is fantastic for guitarists playing live who want to use a MIDI foot controller to trigger synth sounds. Navichord’s MIDI learn capabilities are very well thought out. You can assign a variety of Navichord’s functions to MIDI CC numbers to be sent by your MIDI foot controller, such as triggering specific pads, playing the next chord in a chord progression, playing the previous chord, etc. You can also save for different songs, each having the chord progression(s) you need. The only functionality that I believe is missing is being able to assign presets to MIDI PC values so they can be recalled with your foot controller. Currently, you have to load the preset manually on your iPad or iPhone screen. ### 5/5 — Brilliant! *2022-04-02* Fantastic App! Perfect for finding those ‘special’ chords you may not naturally play whilst messing about - this has inspired more musical passages in the short time I’ve owned it than any other similar chord library/sequencer. I particularly like the way that passages can be saved as individual parts - can’t recommend highly enough for the price - it’s not just another utility, it’s an essential part of the composition process. On a toujours envie d’ affiner ses recherches, bref à recommander pour tout le monde, débutants comme musiciens confirmés. PS: jamais vu un SAV aussi rapide! J’ ai envoyé un e-mail à l’ assistance parce que mon app était en russe, 2mn top chrono après la réponse pour la mettre en anglais était sous mes yeux! MIDI capabilities are great, and being able to switch keys, switch modes/scales, and alter harmony structures is first class. What will take this app to six stars is being able to export your progressions/songs as MIDI or mp3. It would definitely be worth the time/money investment. Inter-app audio sort of works, but MIDI export will be so much better as then I can switch out the sound. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ### 5/5 — Absolutely the best for songwriters *2021-08-21* I have tried so many apps – so many – to try and find an app that would let me lay out the chords to songs on the go, move things around, experiment with different chords and voicings. This is the only one I've ever found that lets me find and save complex chords, and also piece them together with varying durations into progressions that I can hum along to on the go or further refine. There are a couple things that could be more intuitive (like switching between the different editors – it took me forever to find the main chord editor; you have to tap the edit icon then tap the chord's duration #). But once you get past a couple of those quirks, you realize it has everything. I’m using the Navichord as a live instrument in a classic rock band (wife playing it), and didn’t realize how authentic the rock organ and strings are, also the Rhodes piano. Rod Stewart’s Maggie May sounds amazing! We can stick with the Navi sounds and make song transitions easier, since the Navi program remembers which instrument you save in each song, as well as the volume. Really glad Navi still works with iPad 2, or I might not have discovered what a powerful tool it is. Best $8 I’ve ever spent!! ### 5/5 — Great app!! *2021-05-24, version 2.6.15* Most ppl probably use this to record song ideas or explore and learn chord progressions, but I got it so my wife (not a musician, but a great singer) could add 1 finger chords to our songs. It is amazing for that purpose, especially considering $8.00!!! I have several hardware synths that don't do half as good a job. Sliding a finger along the glass makes organ or string chords easy.and seamless. I truly believe if it had at least one of these two suggestions it would be truly amazing. 1. MIDI assignable presets or 2. AUv3 compliance The reason- I use it to manually progress through the chords during live performances. Having MIDI assignable presets and/or AUv3 integration would make calling up different song presets with one button on my MIDI controller a breeze. But this thing is great. ### 5/5 — Wunderschöne App mit vielen Möglichkeiten. *2024-03-22* Als Musikneuling habe ich zunächst die Lite Version “gekauft”, immer mal wieder damit rumgespielt und dann wieder beiseite gelegt, da ich weder die Bedienung noch das System verstanden habe. Gestern hat es dann endlich “Klick” gemacht und ich verstehe zumindest schon mal einen Teil. Wie genial dieses Konzept ist, hätte ich nicht erahnt. Wer über mehr Kenntnisse verfügt, hat damit sicherlich ungeahnte Möglichkeiten. Chords and scales made easy to understand and chord progressions fun ### 5/5 — The awesome feature Navichord does that the others do not. *2022-08-21* After a chord progression has been set up, and external midi device like a foot controller with buttons can click forward through a progression one click/cord at a time, and also configure a different button to step back in like one cord at a time in the progression. This feature is not found in other cord sequence or apps, except one old one. I play bass in a three-piece band that does not have any keyboards, just a guitar singer and drummer. With Navichord one can set up a cord progression for songs in a set list, choose the keyboard sounds to play for each song then play keyboard chords with 1 foot. This is also a fantastic feature because it allows the band to be spontaneous and stretch out songs, play faster slower, pause, hold, stop or whatever. Having to follow a metered sequence where things can run off the rails and the band loses some authenticity and that live feel. Also the developer is available if needed.
