If buying again I would consider trying to find another form of smart controller as the Navien version is very poor ### 1/5 — Unusable app *2025-01-15, version 2.00.02* We can no longer use the app to control our heating & hot water. The smart plus control indicates it’s pared with our wifi but every time we open the app it says ‘loading’ and then changes to ‘offline’ - useless. Using the thermostat to control everything is very clunky and obviously can’t be used remotely. Customer service extremely unhelpful - suggested it was us and not the app at fault. Not a great experience when a company doesn’t pay any attention to customer feedback. ### 3/5 — Does this app ever get updated? *2025-01-04, version 2.00.02* Had my boiler (and this app) for 2 years now, there’s not been a single update which is surprising as it’s very glitchy. Half the features don’t work, I can turn my heating on and off, and set to holiday mode, that’s it. Even then I have to restart the app several times. Really does need someone to look in to it, but there’s no customer service? ### 1/5 — Terrible !!!!! *2024-12-23, version 2.00.02* Can’t even sign up and make an account through the app to fully review. Keeps telling me my two passwords don’t match THEN tells me I have an incorrect password. How? I haven’t even signed up. It required a bit of head scratching and experimenting to use but it does do what it says in the functions used so far. Not yet tried geofencing or remote control from outside wifi network, via smartphone. I like the oil consumption indication & hours run which apparently updates after midnight each day, for cumulative totals in monthly period. Consumption is also graphed monthly which will be useful, along with average outside temp of local weather site info. After experimentation and consideration I was able to set up required time programme for hot water and central heating. (Tip- for programme think time on/off.) App works in switching on and off boiler changes and settings remotely within home and is the best way of doing it. Most other water temp adjustments etc are required at boiler site interface. Its OK but needs more work to make user convenient. Disappointingly my old (20+ years) Worcester Bosch control at boiler was easier to use on a daily basis with on/off controls, advance program setting but admittedly more operation at boiler site required and no consumption/hours metering. With the Navien App I was expecting a slicker interface for control and boiler setting changes remotely. Navien please get your software team onto this and create the improvements. It would also be good to see your team react here to the customer comments and instill confidence that you are interested in comment and improvement. Over to you! ### 1/5 — Absolutely Useless *2024-08-07, version 2.00.02* The boiler works fine but the app is bloody useless. Constantly says ‘offline’ when everything else is working fine. I hate this with so much venom I’ll warn anyone and everyone who says they’re getting a new boiler!!! Stay away from Navien ### 1/5 — If smart management of your central heating is important do not buy a Navien boiler *2024-04-03, version 2.00.02* This app does not work so smart control of our central heating isn’t possible. It worked briefly but now the app says it’s offline even though the boiler control module says it’s connected to the wi-fi and the server, and is working correctly. Re-connecting the control module to the wi-if multiple times and deleting and reinstalling the app hasn’t resolved the issue. Based on all the negative reviews of this app Navien clearly have no intention of fixing this issue. I wish I’d seen these reviews before purchasing a Navien boiler. ### 2/5 — Summer time needed *2024-04-01, version 2.00.02* Hi devs, Could you please implement summer time mode? Without summer time I have to adjust my programs to accommodate, which is quite troublesome. I’ve spoken with Navien Tech Support who said they’re working on the app. I saw a ‘bug fix’ update 23 hours ago and got excited to try again. Same issue! The schedule interface is ridiculously contrived and difficult to work with, the boosts don’t have durations, the thermostat has a mind of its own. Pointless! ### 5/5 — App Review *2024-11-30, version 2.00.02* I recently had problems with the App failing. I made contact with their customer service and they were very helpful. I had to make some changes to the settings on my iPhone for the phone to connect properly. I just changed my phone to an IPhone 16 and although I can open the App via the AppStore it won’t actually allow me to put the app on my phone which is very tedious. Navien need to communicate better to their customers or their reputation will be damaged permanently. ### 5/5 — Need sorting *2023-01-22, version 1.11.04* This app on my iPhone 11 doesn’t work. It won’t keep my location. Constantly have to re enter all info to get it to work. Geo fencing never works. Fuel consumption never work dispute constantly putting the Corcyra setting in. WHY???? The data and graphs don’t work even though the boiler is connected. All in all I think you get what you pay for with the thermostat.
