### 2/5 — A few more features, then perfection.

*2026-07-06*

I’m reading a lot of anatomy and would love to have the ability to zoom in on some of the tables when I’m away from home studying.

Changing pages is not very fluid. As opposed to scrolling to the next page- or an arrow going back and forth. The arrow button to go back and page input don’t always seem to work or are bugged.

Overall I do enjoy reading my book on the go, just wish it was more user friendly on mobile devices.

### 2/5 — Super Glitchy (iPhone)

*2026-06-15, version 3.0*

I love that I can access my books on the go. However, whenever I instinctively swipe backwards to go to previous pages, it takes me to the main menu and the overall app distinctions. I can’t even open the book back up without fully closing and reopening the app.

### 1/5 — Poorly constructed and maintained

*2025-09-04*

This application lacks basic tools. The tools it does have, lack ease of use. An example is the highlighter. The application provides the ability to highlight words, sentences, and sections of text. The application malfunctions when attempting to remove the highlight. Another problem comes when trying to take notes. There appears to be a lack of options for notes. There is no section for notes, this would not be a problem if the application allows copying and pasting to another application. When attempting to copy, the application’s only option is to copy a link.

From my limited use I would not recommend this application. I originally concluded the other reviews may be overly critical, user error, or a combination of both. I now conclude that they are spot on. My suggestion is update the application. Take user feedback seriously.

### 1/5 — Abysmal

*2025-08-19*

As a new student, I decided to pick up an iPad as a tool to read and take notes, etc. For an app that you would think brings you convenience, it skips pages, it’s not intuitive, you can’t use Split View. So many things wrong with something that honestly seems like copy paste HTML garbage. Thanks for nothing, I guess. I’ll keep using the chrome version of the app (which isn’t much better) cause at least I get Split View.

### 1/5 — Speed up your text to speech.

*2025-06-02, version 2.8*

I am currently in class and was hoping that I would be able to use the text to speech on my hour long drives to and from class to help save time. I usually listen at 1.5 to 2 times speed to help save time, but this reader seems to read at a pace slower than normal. Please fix this to help people like me that get sidetracked just reading a book.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-05-26, version 2.8*

Hard to use, bad controls, glitchy. Terrible. Please do better. We need to learn and this the only resource we can use.

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2025-03-18*

This is not my first time using JBL learning products. Whether through the browser or the App, it does not matter—it’s all frustrating. Every potential support feature that you think will help you better actively interact with the material is a useless dead end. Why are the key terms in the books just links to a page that doesn’t even give you a definition. Like I click on link to “cow” and it jumps to a page that just says “cow”. Thats it. No definition. Forget scrolling down to find things via the chapter contents. And the app—forget it. Makes zero difference. It’s all convoluted. Stop doing things half way and not ergonomic. Try testing it out with real people to see how people read and learn.

### 1/5 — The ebooks a scam

*2025-03-15, version 2.8*

Cant read ebook bc when you try to move on to the next page it skips multiple pages. Even trying to select the exact page doesnt bring you to the right page. The app just simply doesnt work and neither does the webpage. There is effectively no ebook option even though we pay for it. Its rly just a scam.

### 1/5 — Worse app i have seen yet.

*2025-03-11, version 2.8*

This is a joke. App from 1995. Reader is horrible. If you are going put out this junk at least make it downloadable so speechify or other programs can read it. You obviously do not have a competent tech department. As is obvious through your entire system and web page .

### 1/5 — Terrible experiance, you're better off using the online eBook

*2025-01-28*

Not designed well. You are left with an inacute scroll bar on the bottom or you can spam the down key and then the left arrow to proceed to the next page. If you try to use the touch pad on your laptop to scroll through pages it's going to highlight some random words on the page first, you need to click on the screen to remove the highlights and hope that it will actually scroll on your next attempt instead of just highlighting again.

It does a good job at deviding the pages by topics but if the topic is so short that it takes up less than a page you cannot go to the next page. You have to scroll past the bottom of the page for it to allow you to get to the next page. If the section is too short than you cannot scroll down at all which prevents you from getting to the next page.

Just use the eBook on their website and save yourself the headache.

### 1/5 — Split View is not supported on iPad

*2025-01-27, version 2.8*

I do not know why any textbook app would not support this for it helps students take notes and read the ebook to better understand the material. Please fix this and I might rate this app higher

### 1/5 — TTS is So Slow!!!

*2025-01-22*

I downloaded this app to be able to listen and follow along in the textbook. But the text to speech reader is so slow that it is completely impractical. There are no speed adjustments for the text to speech like there are on other apps.. I’m a slow reader as it is, but this reading speed is even slower than I am. Very dissatisfied. Would not recommend if you want just the text to speech function. It is convenient to have your textbook on your phone, but I was looking forward. To being able to leverage the text to speech to assist my learning.

### 1/5 — Rate

*2024-09-30, version 2.8*

You should be able to change speed of TTS. Needs easier accessible navigation bar.

### 1/5 — Can’t login

*2024-09-11, version 2.8*

I have verified my login information several times and it just will not accept it! I have to use my internet browser to go to their website.

### 1/5 — Can’t scroll through pages

*2024-07-31*

Constantly skips multiple pages and randomly will revert back several pages causing you to loose your place in the book. There is no page selection feature either. Just inaccurate scrolling. This app is a total joke. The Ebooks were Included in my tuition but there’s no way to download a pdf or print it off Jones and Bartlett learning.

You a forced to be online constantly in the browser to utilize your textbooks. This app is frustrating and unusable for its offline feature. Probably just going to end up purchasing the textbooks I need. Another scam in the education industry. My classes start in 3 days and I’m stuck with this broken app.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2024-07-14, version 2.8*

I can’t read without accidentally changing the section and losing my spot as I scroll. There is no highlighting or note taking. The book is over 2000 pages and I thought I would make it easier if I read on my iPad so I wasn’t lugging around so much mass. Nope back to the book.

### 1/5 — Cannot log-in. (Solution)

*2024-07-13, version 2.8*

To access the ebook for the course you're in you have to log-in to Jones and Bartlett and then "launch" into Navigate. Since you cannot launch from J&B in this app, and the company or developers have refused to fix this known issue for several years, you may be unable to log-in to this app, rendering it useless. (Update: I tried changing my password, made it shorter and removed some characters from the password that I suspected J&B supported but Navigate had an issue with, this allowed me to log-in. This is still a critical flaw of the product and app, so it's 1 star remains.)

### 2/5 — Constantly crashing

*2024-05-19, version 2.7*

Now it says my book needs to be updated but every time I click to update it the app crashes. The app was at least operational before but I can’t even open the previous version of my book.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — FIX YOUR APP

*2026-06-30*

This app is a joke… basically a scam, fix your app. It’s not like these textbooks are free

### 1/5 — Could be great

*2026-06-28*

The app is helpful as I can read on the go but the app will not allow full screen and if I exit a book I cannot get back in without closing the app. I do like the notes and annotation options but it’s very frustrating to not be able to have the app in full screen mode, this leaves my other apps/bar showing when I’m trying to focus. If they fixed these problems I’d give it a much higher rating.

### 1/5 — HORRIBLE

*2026-06-28*

You have to scroll down perfectly straight or else it will skip a page to the right, but if you slide your finger to the left it will close you out of the book instead of returning you to the page you were at. And when you try and click the book to get back in, it won’t work so you have to restart the app :/

There should be an option to turn off sliding pages. The bar at the bottom is also terrible as it won’t tell you what page you’re going to and just shows titles that are completely inaccurate.

The concept of this is so cool, it would be way better to be able to keep reading my book when outside instead of having to pull out my laptop. But it was not very well made :(

### 1/5 — Last update broke app

*2026-05-18, version 3.0*

Every time I try to go back a page it sends me to the main book selection page and freezes ,I shouldn’t have to hard close the app every time I go back a page

### 1/5 — This app sucks

*2026-04-11, version 2.9*

This is really very bad app for a book worth 1000$ I feel like I got ripped off. You can do a lot better than this but my guess is you busy ripping off other students. Monopoly over these books need to stop.

### 1/5 — Pretty bad

*2026-04-07, version 2.9*

The app crashes whenever I try an launch a book.

### 1/5 — I just downloaded this app

*2025-11-18, version 2.9*

I’ve downloaded this app because I need to take a course for work. When I open the app, it wants me to sign. But it does not allow me to sign up. I do not have a password so I cannot sign in.

### 1/5 — FIX YOUR APP

*2025-10-26, version 2.9*

The price we pay for the textbook makes it inexcusable to have such a terrible app. FIX IT you have the money.

### 1/5 — Login

*2025-09-22, version 2.9*

This app won’t even let me login. When I redeemed my access code and set up my account on Jones and Bartlett it gave me no option to create a username and password for the app and I’m trying to use the same login as thats what the site says to do. Niw it just keeps saying incorrect user or password.

### 1/5 — Not loading

*2025-09-09, version 2.8*

Book content will not load

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works well

*2025-04-04, version 2.8*

No issues! Works super well for me! Idk what all the other reviews are saying

### 5/5 — Bonne appli

*2025-03-26*

Bonne appli, qui fonctionne parfaitement et est facile à utiliser

### 5/5 — Reviews had me concerned

*2023-03-29, version 2.7*

I need the book accessible offline and the app seems to work just like the webpage version. I DO RECOMMEND IT, makes a accessing the book less of a hassle especially if you have a pc and tablet, keep the books open and use your pc freely without switching back an forth. So far no issues. Thank you J&B

### 5/5 — Super easy to use

*2021-10-29*

Again not sure why the reviews are so poor. I’m traveling and this is SO much easier to use than my big book. 5* all day. Making my life a lot easier!

### 5/5 — Efficient and Easy!

*2021-10-05*

As someone who despises online text books pairing this app with a tablet or mobile phone makes it bearable to read and navigate the ebooks required for my college courses. Although when you sign in it doesn’t show the text you are typing into the text box’s everything else about the app is smooth and easy to navigate! App definitely deserves far more stars than 1.5.

### 5/5 — I can finally access my book on my iPad

*2021-06-10*

I don’t really understand the 1star reviews for this app. This app allowed me to have full access to my textbooks with no problems. Works great and I can finally navigate through my textbook without glitches on my iPad!

### 5/5 — Not bad!

*2021-01-26*

I was quite discouraged when I saw all of the 1 star reviews, however, I realized these reviews are from people who don’t know how to use a freakin’ phone. It only took me 7 seconds of confusion trying to find out how to select chapters, this app is great for when I don’t have my laptop handy. Go ahead and give 1 star though if you’re old and technologically impaired...

### 4/5 — Absolutely needs a dark/customizable color read mode!

*2023-06-25*

Otherwise, the app is pretty decent. The page turning leaves a little bit to be desired but it does work. I am also unsure why the rating is so low, it’s not that bad, I regularly use it on my iPad 11 Pro and my iPhone 12 promax without any issues.

### 4/5 — Not Sure Why Reviews Are So Negative…

*2021-07-13*

Not sure why this app has such a low rating. Maybe they’ve updated it since? It’s a very simple app for sure but I don’t have any issue reading my books on it and it looks much better than the actual website looks on my phone. I’m taking 1 star off because I did have an issue logging in on this app. The login area was there but I couldn’t see any text on screen so I had to enter my login information and just hope I typed it right. But yea honestly it’s decent, it kind of reminds me of BookShelf by BooksRun minus the bookmarking feature.

### 4/5 — Works Just Fine

*2020-12-06, version 2.1*

After logging into the Jones & Bartlett website for my class I was able to easily download my textbooks into this app... Not sure why prior reviewers were having problems. Not I can easily study while using this app.
