## What is NaviGate?

NaviGate is the situational awareness companion built for professional pilots — designed to keep you ahead of the weather and the airspace, from preflight to top of descent.

SMART SCAN — OCR FLIGHT PLAN INPUT
Point your camera at any ATC flight plan and NaviGate reads it instantly. Compatible with LIDO format. Waypoints, routing, levels, and hazards are extracted automatically — no typing required.

VERTICAL PROFILE
See your entire route in cross-section: terrain, MORA, WAFS turbulence, icing severity, CB tops, and active SIGMETs plotted at their real flight levels. Use the flight timeline scrubber to fly your route from EOBT to ETA and see how weather evolves along the way.

FLIGHT HUD
A persistent banner displays callsign, registration, EOBT, en-route time, gate, and flight level — alongside live TAF hazard alerts for your destination and alternate. Tap DEP at any time to amend your departure time — hazard analysis recalculates instantly, even offline. Tap INITIAL FL to adjust your cruise level and the vertical profile redraws to match.

RAIN RADAR — MULTI-REGION COVERAGE
High-resolution precipitation radar with animated playback across Europe, Turkey, Israel, the United States, Australia, Japan and China, Taiwan, the Philippines and South Korea.

LIGHTNING STRIKES
Live worldwide lightning data refreshed every 60 seconds.

SIGMET OVERLAY
Active SIGMETs displayed on the map with color-coded hazard types. Tap any zone to read the full text. NaviGate can also parse SIGMET documents via Smart Scan.

WAFS TURBULENCE & CB TOPS
WAFS charts covering turbulence, icing and CB top forecasts at several flight levels, with forecasts up to 36 hours ahead.

WX ENROUTE
VFR / MVFR / IFR / LIFR color coding on every airport within your route corridor. Filter by minimum runway length. Hazard thresholds for clouds, visibility, wind, and ETA window are fully configurable.

SMART ALTERNATE FINDER
Your planned alternate looking marginal? Tap the hazard badge in the flight HUD to scan airports near your destination — filtered by radius and minimum runway length. NaviGate pulls live TAFs and ranks candidates as Suitable or Caution. Designate any ICAO manually to fetch its METAR, TAF, and NOTAMs for offline use. Alternate candidates are pre-cached at route load so the finder works without connectivity.

HAZARD DETECTION
NaviGate automatically analyzes destination and alternate TAFs against your ETA window and flags low clouds, poor visibility, strong winds, CB activity, and heavy precipitation. Thresholds are fully configurable in Settings to match your own operational standards.

AIRPORT INFORMATION
METAR, TAF, D-ATIS, NOTAMs with category filters, runway data, wind component per runway, and sunrise/sunset times — all in one place. Smart caching keeps your last briefing available offline.

WIND ARROWS PER WAYPOINT
Tap any waypoint to see wind direction and speed at your planned flight level (FL050–FL390).

LIVE TRAFFIC
After scanning your ATC flight plan, NaviGate automatically identifies your aircraft on FlightRadar24 and displays live ETA, flight status directly in the flight banner.

TOOLBOX
Five precision tools accessible from the dock. Equal Time Point: place two diversion airports on the map to find the point where diversion time is equal, with wind component factored in. Distance Ruler: tap any two points for an exact NM readout. Time Calculator. Unit Converter. Crosswind Component: enter runway track, wind direction and speed for an instant crosswind and headwind/tailwind readout.

OFFLINE & FLIGHT RECALL
Radar tiles, WAFS, CB tops, and D-ATIS are pre-fetched when your route is loaded. Lose connectivity mid-flight? Tap Recall to instantly restore your full briefing.

NaviGate is a supplementary situational awareness tool. It does not replace official ATC clearances, certified EFB systems, or regulatory briefing requirements.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.9 — 2026-08-23

What's New in v2.9:

New — Aerodromes that require a specific crew qualification are now flagged, both on the airport page and in the Alternate Finder, so a field that needs one never slips quietly into your diversion shortlist. Coverage is currently limited to Europe and the North Atlantic; your operations manual remains the authority.

New — Airport search is now a single field that accepts an ICAO code, an IATA code or an airport name, with results ranked by relevance — no more choosing the right tab before you start typing. Codes that don't exist can no longer be selected.

Fixed — More reliable D-ATIS. Reports that arrived cut off mid-sentence, missing the QNH and the wind, are no longer shown as if complete. Reports quietly rebroadcast days later are no longer shown as current. And several airports that never returned an ATIS at all now do.

### 2.8 — 2026-08-17

What's New in v2.8:

New — A single Layers panel now gathers Radar, Lightning, SIGMET, Turbulence, CB Tops, Icing, Wind and En-route Weather instead of crowding the toolbar. The toolbar itself is shorter, and its buttons no longer shift position depending on whether a route is loaded — the same gesture lands in the same place every time.

New — Each of the eight radar networks now shows how long ago it last published. A source that has gone quiet is flagged right on the slider instead of just showing an empty sky, so you're never left mistaking a dead feed for a clear one.

Fixed — METAR and TAF could occasionally show as "Not available" on the first lookup after opening the app, even though the report existed. Lookups now retry automatically, so a slow connection is never mistaken for a station with no report.

Fixed — NOTAM alerts were sometimes shown in red for routine approach-procedure restrictions (RNAV, RNP, STAR, SID), not just for genuine closures. Red is now reserved for actual runway or aerodrome closures and ILS unavailability, so the ones that truly matter stand out.

### 2.7.1 — 2026-08-06

What's New in v2.7.1:

- Improved — The weather along your route now stays usable in flight. Load your route on the ground and it comes with you: with no connection you can zoom in, zoom out and scrub back through the timeline, and the precipitation stays on screen instead of disappearing.

- Fixed — Coverage shading no longer drops out offline. The shading that marks areas without radar data used to vanish, in whole or in part, as soon as you zoomed or recentred the map without a connection. It now stays put.

- Improved — Coverage shading is far easier to read on satellite and hybrid maps. In daylight it used to blend into the terrain; it now stands out as clearly as it does at night, so a clear sky is never mistaken for a blind spot.

### 2.7 — 2026-08-04

What's New in v2.7:

- New — Radar for Taiwan, the Philippines and South Korea. Three more regions join the map, alongside Europe, Turkey, Israel, the United States, Australia, Japan and China. Turn the radar on and every region in view is live at once, on one shared timeline and one shared colour scale.

- Fixed — Precipitation no longer vanishes from the map. Echoes could disappear a moment after appearing, most often just after panning to a new region, and only came back when you moved the time slider.

- Improved — Radar loads much faster, in every region. Frames that used to take close to a second now appear almost instantly.

- Fixed — Offline radar. Precipitation already downloaded stays fully visible without a connection.

### 2.6.1 — 2026-07-30

What's New in v2.6.1:

- New — Precipitation radar beyond Europe. The United States (NEXRAD, covering the CONUS, Alaska and Hawaii), Australia, Japan and China are now built in, each taken straight from the country's national weather service. There is no source to choose: turn the radar on and every region in view is live at once, alongside Europe.

- Improved — Editable manual SIGMETs. Scanned SIGMETs are parsed more robustly, and if something still reads wrong, a new EDIT button lets you correct the text and coordinates in place instead of deleting and starting over. The details panel now shows the corrected coordinates actually used to draw the hazard polygon.
