## What is Navigate to YES?

Navigate to YES is the offline-first companion app for Burning Man.

Built for the playa: no cell signal, no problem. Everything you need is bundled - 4,500+ events, 1,200+ camps, 260+ art pieces, 430+ mutant vehicles. The compass arrow always knows where you're trying to go, even when nothing else is connected.

WHAT'S INSIDE

- Always-on compass: the big arrow at the top of every screen points at your destination. Default is camp Navigate to YES, override with your own camp address or any starred event.

- Smart event sort: "Soonest" or "Closest", filter by day of the burn, or let the on-device recommender match events to your vibe, proximity, and happening-now.

- Crew finder: create or join a crew with a 6-character code (or any custom word). See your friends on a live map of Black Rock City. Works offline via Bluetooth when you're at the playa, online via public pub/sub when you have signal.

- Real BRC map: the actual 2025 city geometry pulled from Burning Man's official GIS data. Concentric streets, plazas, Center Camp, the Temple, the trash fence. Your starred camps and crew positions plotted on top.

- Lock-screen wallpaper builder: your name, camp, and BRC coordinates as a missing-poster-style wallpaper. Save it before you leave, the playa will know you.

- Ask the playa: Claude-powered Q&A for when you have signal. "What's a chill spot near 7:30?" "Where's the closest art car right now?"

NO ACCOUNTS, NO TRACKING

No login. No analytics. No ads. The app reads your location to point the arrow and broadcasts it (only) to crews you've explicitly joined. That's the whole privacy model. Full policy at https://nav2yes.vercel.app/privacy.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.9 — 2026-08-24

The Music tab: every DJ set the camps announce.

• A day-by-day grid of DJ sets at sound camps and art cars, taken from the camps' own announcements — the programming the official guide never carries.
• Works offline once loaded, and refreshes on its own whenever you have signal.
• Post-midnight sets stay listed under the night they belong to, so a 1am set is right where you'd look at 1am.
• Sets that meet the sun are marked, so sunrise and sunset sets are easy to spot.
• Save any set with a star, and tap the arrow to point the compass at the camp or art car playing it.

### 1.8 — 2026-08-07

Minor under-the-hood improvements and stability fixes.

### 1.7 — 2026-08-03

- Crew members no longer disappear from your group unless they leave or you block them. If someone's location goes stale, you'll see their last known spot instead of losing them.
- New indicator when your location isn't actually reaching your crew, so you know sharing is working.
- More reliable location sharing when your phone is locked, including after a restart.
- Share your camp's location with friends and see friends' camps on the map.
- Shared camp links now open directly in the app.
- Photos for camps, art, and mutant vehicles now cache for offline use on the playa.
- Automatic light/dark theme support.
- General reliability improvements.

### 1.6 — 2026-07-27

- A clearer, step-by-step first-run flow for joining or creating a crew: pick a group, set your name, then choose whether to turn on offline Bluetooth crew-finding.
- New: optional off-grid crew finding over Bluetooth for when there's no cell signal. Off by default -- you choose to turn it on, and you can turn it off any time in Settings. Your position stays encrypted with your group code either way.
- New: set your camp during onboarding (search by name or enter coordinates) so the main compass can point you home by default.
- The app no longer asks for location access until you actually open a screen that needs it (Map or People), instead of asking the moment you open the app to browse.
- Various reliability fixes to crew location sharing.

### 1.5 — 2026-07-25

- Redesigned the Lock Screen Maker with real photo backdrops (Desert, Dusk, Dark), bigger legible text, and an optional phone number field
- Fixed search results in Places/Browse so exact and starts-with matches rank first
- Fixed the keyboard not dismissing properly when switching tabs or submitting a field
- Added a two-step confirm before leaving a group or clearing your saved home address
