It will glitch and kick me out. ### 1/5 — Just don’t bother. *2026-05-28, version 25.1.1* ’ve been a longtime NBT customer, but I think it may finally be time to move on. My biggest frustration is the overdraft system. There have been multiple times where my account went negative temporarily, but I transferred money into the account the same day, sometimes even before 8PM, and still ended up with overdraft fees. Other banks I use are much more understanding with small timing issues or temporary shortfalls and often don’t charge fees at all in situations like that. Another issue is not being able to use my debit card or withdraw money during certain late night hours, especially on Saturday nights between roughly 10 PM and 1 AM. In today’s world, that feels outdated and inconvenient. What’s also frustrating is the inconsistency. Sometimes payments are returned, sometimes they aren’t. Sometimes transfers seem to count, and other times they don’t. If multiple charges hit, the fees add up quickly at $35 each. The only way to get a fee waived is to call the local branch, and even then, they usually can only remove one. I’ve kept my NBT account because many of my automatic payments come out of it, and I do appreciate having a local bank where I can easily deposit or withdraw cash. I also want to say that I genuinely like the employees at the Deposit branch. They’ve always been kind and helpful. That said, I think NBT needs to catch up with the times, improve the app, modernize the system, and create more customer friendly policies. Longtime customers should feel valued and supported when small issues or hiccups happen. When their system went down for two or three days and people couldn’t access their money or use their debit card, they had payments returned, declined, and even late payments from those other businesses. They didn’t do anything to help those customers, but if I’m short two dollars because my car payment came out and then I transferred the money over and I still get hit with a $35 fee.
