### 1/5 — App is the worst!

*2021-07-16, version 1.3*

They advertise it as a way that you can use it HOV lane without having to pay at all but the app never works you can’t even reset your password. This has happened over and over to me I deleted the app and re-entered it. It’s happened different months different years. I think they don’t support it because they really just want to charge you the tolls even if you have enough passengers

### 1/5 — Can you rate negative

*2021-06-03, version 1.3*

This app is horrible. Crashes never lets you log in and my guess is so that you can not use HOV for free. What a waste of time.

### 1/5 — Lack of ez pass app??

*2021-04-17, version 1.3*

Why isn’t there a North Carolina easy pass app? Why isn’t there a transponder that works with all toll systems? Probably because they make most of their money on penalties and are interested in having you be able to drive anywhere in the United States and pay for a toll by transponder. It is a corrupt industry and I’m sorry to see North Carolina isn’t trying to solve problem instead of contributing to it.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2021-01-07, version 1.3*

This app is terrible. It suddenly would not take my password. I’ve been through the password reset process over and over and it still won’t accept any new password I generate using their “forgot password” process.

### 1/5 — I would give zero stars if I could

*2020-09-20, version 1.3*

Continuous crashes - come on, you can do better

### 1/5 — Does not work - error select valid duration

*2020-06-10, version 1.3*

I’ve reinstalled. Logged out and back in. But continue to get Error - select valid duration.

### 1/5 — Does Not Allow Account Management!

*2020-06-04, version 1.3*

You are unable to manage your transponder account, which was the main point for having the app.

### 1/5 — Could this be any worse???

*2020-03-15, version 1.3*

Absolutely worst app I’ve used, but this is the only choice. Logging in each time is ridiculous, says there is a fingerprint option, there’s not. When selecting times to set for your transponder the button is almost hidden. Come on guys!!! Anyone who helped create this ever use it???

### 1/5 — Can’t get in

*2020-03-07, version 1.3*

Despite many varied attempts, no success in logging in or registering. If anybody finds a solution, they should post it here.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t even work

*2020-02-22, version 1.3*

I’ve been trying to pay my bill for weeks and your website and this application refuse to accept the information I put in claiming there is a system error this process is so frustrating I would have had my bill paid on time if the system was not so horribly designed!!!

### 1/5 — Error Registering

*2020-02-02, version 1.3*

App won’t allow me to register. Keeps saying invalid data, but all data is correct.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2020-01-14, version 1.3*

This app is garbage. It won’t let me register or sign in (and I know it’s correct). Registration gives an error message, and sign in won’t work.

### 1/5 — Cannot login

*2019-12-17, version 1.3*

I created an account online and received my transponders but cannot log into the app. I have deleted and reinstalled the app with no luck. The website will let me login every time.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever!

*2019-12-06, version 1.3*

I have never even given an app less than three stars. Terrible! I have had to call customer service twice in the month that I have had it. Total waste of time!!

### 1/5 — Can’t login

*2019-11-30, version 1.3*

Downloaded. App is useless. Can’t login. Tells me my information is wrong. Many many login tries. Not working

### 1/5 — Unable to login

*2019-10-10, version 1.3*

I keep getting server error when I try to login. I try to register, it gives me must fill in all fields. This app has simple login issues and it is clear from the comments the company is not interested in even fixing them. Is that the goal, so no one can set HOV status and free ride?? Hmmm...

### 1/5 — Why limit the app to just HOV3?

*2019-10-01, version 1.3*

NC would be smart to make this into an app that does let you manage your Quick Pass account. Why they would only put the effort into making this an HOV3-centric app while keeping the Quick Pass management on a mobile website (with no app) is baffling. I’d like an answer on why we can’t have everything within 1 single app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No Integration

*2023-01-13, version 1.5*

Horrible app with no integrations. I have to setup separate accounts and register vehicles in both ? Can’t look at my accounts on the app so jump over to your desktop and log into the other account. Terrible! Should learn from the bank apps.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2023-01-06, version 1.5*

This is the worst app I’ve ever installed. The design is hideous, it’s half broken, nothing is intuitive and it doesn’t even work! I set my HOV status an hour before a trip, confirmed it was on and I still wound up with $20 in tolls being charged to my account. What a joke.

### 1/5 — Lowest bidder Garbage

*2022-11-13, version 1.5*

Why do I have to create a new account when I necessarily have a Quick Pass account? And no social sign in either just stupid password and recovery requirements. The UI looks like a PowerPoint and nothing is sized right on anything bigger than an iPhone 5.

This lowest bidder scam of a contractor and the dumb state procurement officer who wrote the bid both fired.

### 1/5 — If I could I’d give negative stars

*2022-06-13, version 1.4*

It’s really that bad. Horrible UI, FaceID never works, and app constantly “forgets” passwords, requiring a password reset.

### 1/5 — It is actually that bad. Still.

*2022-05-07, version 1.4*

After reading all the other horrible reviews from three years ago I thought surely it must be better, but it is not.

Everything from signing up to using is clunky! For example the security questions are too long to be displayed from the drop downs and you have to guess the end of the question. Then your answers are case sensitive. The developers can’t parse a phone number to remove special characters and when you don’t, the error message is a generic “check all fields for correct data entry.” I know these are details, but this is what separates a good app from this garbage.

### 1/5 — NC Quick Pass App

*2022-05-05, version 1.4*

Don’t waste your time with this app. They claim that you can ride for free if you activate the app 15 minutes before your trip but the catch is that there must be 3 people in the the car.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2022-04-06, version 1.4*

One of the worst apps I have ever used. UI is clunky, allows you to select something and then gives an error that you aren’t allowed to do it. Doesn't have Face ID integration. No improvements in the 2 years I’ve had to use it.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-03-09, version 1.3*

Tells me I’ve tried to log in too many times, even though I only tried once. Crashes when I try to reset password.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2021-09-15, version 1.3*

App does not work. Reset password on portal multiple times. Uninstalled and installed the app.. Just does not work and the portal does not allow you to record your trip as HOV.. :(

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2021-09-04, version 1.3*

Terrible app. I love typing in my password with uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters while trying to drive. Then trying to drill into tiny menus just to flip the transponder to “on”. And then waiting 15 minutes for what I entered to take effect. I’ve usually made it back home to my driveway before the transponder actually turns on. Amateurs.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easy

*2021-10-29, version 1.3*

Works fine for me!

### 5/5 — Convenient

*2021-08-03, version 1.3*

Works great, you have to register your transponder. You don’t login with your Quick Pass account data.

### 5/5 — Works for me!

*2019-08-16, version 1.3*

For it's intended purpose,
It works well.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2019-08-16, version 1.3*

Very easy to use and functional

### 5/5 — Does what it is supposed to do

*2019-06-27, version 1.3*

Logged in fine. I had to log in with my email address instead of user name. Not sure why. Face ID works on my iPhone Xs. This app is specifically used to schedule HOV 3+ travel. You will want to become familiar with setting the app prior to making a trip.

### 5/5 — Quick Pass

*2019-06-23, version 1.3*

After reading the reviews I was very hesitant to download. I ordered transponders with HOV access and after downloading this app works great. It does not give you account access and is only used to tell the responder to give HOV access. I prefer it to not have account info because I have teens who drive that only need HOV access info not account info. App works perfectly fine. You would need to set up a separate user name and password thank you quick pass account.

### 5/5 — Good Pre-Release But Needs Bugs Worked Out

*2018-11-24, version 1.0*

This is the first release of this app so I expect bugs but it’s a little glitchy and sometimes crashes. I don’t like how I must login every time the open the app. Overall, good security measures and does what it is meant to do. The graphics are not that that great, vary basic but hope for improvement. I hope other states such as Georgia’s Peach Pass allows HOV deceleration inoperability. Not just E-Z Pass which requires the flex transponder.

### 2/5 — Poor design

*2019-11-27, version 1.3*

The app has to be open and logged into 15 min before you start using the toll lanes to get HOV credit, but you have to keep the website open or the clock stops counting down! Either make the clock work without website being open or make the app stay open (running down your phone battery) so that you don’t have to keep logging in or tapping the screen.

### 2/5 — Dashboard always shows HOV off

*2019-09-30, version 1.3*

Have the app installed on two different iPhone XS. Even though the declarations page shows that HOV has been confirmed and status is green the dashboard always shows red HOV OFF on one of the iPhones. The other iPhone shows green on the dashboard and the timer. I tried deleting the transponder and reading it. I also deleted the app and reinstalled but no change. The status on the dashboard only changes on one iPhone the other one always stays red.

### 2/5 — Cannot connect to server

*2019-07-10, version 1.3*

I was able to figure out the whole process of getting an ez pass HOV account first, then getting the transponder, then using the transponder number to create an account at the ncquickpasshov site, and then download the app, and then sign in and set the status to HOV for seven days. But, when I went back in three days ago to reset it (it had been past 7 days), there was a server error when I tried to login. There has been ever since. Not only is the most convoluted, unintuitive process, but I cannot use the lanes anyway because I can’t sign in and set the status using this app.

**Developer response:** We cannot replicate this issue on the app. Please try uninstalling the app and re-installing it.
If you continue to have difficulties, you can set your HOV status from your phone by going to the mobile friendly website at https://ncquickpasshov.com.
