## What is Neanderthal?

The ancient spirit of an Ice Age huntress haunts the Neanderthal Museum! 

Help forgetful Nami to remember the memories of the last trip with her son. Explore the new tactile  exhibits at Neanderthal museum, which painfully remind Nami of her past. 

Use simple swipe gestures to make important decisions and to safely guide Nami and her son to the family and their summer camp. Find out more about the enigmatic "elders", the Neanderthals. The artificial intelligence (A.I.) "NMsee" will support your search for suspicious tactile exhibits (sensory/tactile exhibits) and exciting information about archaeology, the Stone Age, and our human evolution. Additionally, the A.I. offers an Indoor Navigation Service at the museum.  

"Neanderthal: Memories" is an inclusive mobile game for adults that guides you through the permanent exhibition of Neanderthal Museum in Germany. You can download and play the game for free. 

When visiting Neanderthal museum, you can immerse yourself in Nami's memories of her Stone Age world, using your smartphone and headphones. With simple swiping gestures, you can navigate through this bygone world of sounds from the last ice age. That way you can explore the Neanderthal Museum and the Stone Age regardless of your eyesight! 

Download the game now and visit us at Neanderthal Museum! “Neanderthal: Memories” can be played at 14 new stations in the museum's permanent exhibition. Within the building, an inclusive infrastructure with a floor guidance system, tactile labels and many interesting new tactile exhibits await you. Your A.I. “NMsee” also offers an accessible route description to the museum. 

Are you using a screen reader? For an ideal gaming experience, switch off your screen reader when starting the game. The museum’s A.I. “NMsee” will help you through the entire game. It is also possible to play “Neanderthal: Memories” with active screen reader software if you prefer to do so.  

“Neanderthal: Memories” uses beacon technology and QR codes to provide you with location-based game content. Please switch on Bluetooth and location detection while using the game and connect to the museum’s guest WiFi. 

"Neanderthal: Memories" was developed from 2019-2021 by research project "NMsee", a cooperation of BSV Nordrhein e.V. and Neanderthal Museum. The game can be played by people with and without visual impairment and offers all visitors a new museum experience. The game was made possible by funding from:
