And the size of scan is far more efficient that the very bloated huge file size document scans used on native Apple app for iPhone. Downside is that for best cloud, one cannot choose neat cloud storage location. It could not be easier ... open the app ... take a photo of your receipt ... identify the correct category/folder (that you create!) ... then shred the paper. It’s a great way to track receipt’s. The improvement in your software and your scanner abilities has saved me an incredible amount of time and space. Not having superior technology background I have found your Webinars to be informative and understandable, I am grateful for them. Since you have begun Webinars, I have discovered many more uses for my NEAT system, well beyond my original expectations. Over the years you have made improvements that I have loved and made my life easier and others that left questions in my mind and so I didn’t use them. It is tax season, 25 years ago it took me a week or two to gather all my information to prepare for filing taxes. Now it takes less than two hours. I press the report button. You have to verify scanned data. It doesn’t always get the right vendor or the right amount but it does pretty well. **Developer response:** The Neat Company thanks you for your 5-star review! We cannot run our business without it! ### 4/5 — Small Business Accounting - Not *2024-11-10* This is an excellent program to store receipts, in fact any document, on the cloud called a neat Cloud. An accounting program it is not. At one time, they featured a version called Neat Books but in fact it is almost impossible to balance the Balance Sheet for a company using this program. The program works like QuickBooks on the web but in a reverse. QucikBooks is an accounting program and allows you to attach receipts to the income and expenses recorded. Not works the opposite: a great depository for receipts and then allows one to align a receipt to a downloaded income (from your bank) or expense (e.g.; from credit cards). Payments from one to the other are called transfers. However, the Balance Sheet Report o rarely in balance and it is not clear that the program has the functionality to make it balance. In QUickBooks, the balance sheet by definition will balance or you cannot place the entry into the Books. As best I can tell, Neat no longer promotes the app as one that is for accounting, except the title on this App. **Developer response:** Thank you for the 4-star rating and feedback. It would be useful for the App to match vendors to categories that we choose. For example “Whole Foods” matched to category: “Groceries”…. Etc. Also, the addition of the field: “Payment Type” in the Mobile App would also be useful. **Developer response:** Thanks so much for the feedback! I was happy with my experience. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Clueless *2025-05-10* I question whether the developers of this software have ever actually run a business. As a company, you cannot claim to provide “immediate customer service” M-F from 9-8 ET. Those are the hours that your customers are working. Perhaps be available earlier and on the weekends. The format is limited and can’t be customized in a useful manner. My receipts for all of my expenses are no more organized and accessible in Neat’s digital format than they are in my shoebox with a notecard with a running tally. **Developer response:** Philip, Thank you for sharing your feedback. Cannot locate any guidance on support page for this issue. I was a longtime user of Neat and wanted to migrate to this product. Nice concept, but poor execution. ### 1/5 — WARNING!!! *2024-04-22, version 1.0.53* This app will try to trick you into a subscription as if you can try it for $0.99 fora year, but it’s only a one month trial then it will charge you $200. ### 1/5 — Want to spend $21.78 a month for this AWFUL APP???… (Why? Free apps are better!🤔) *2024-02-03, version 1.0.47* Want to spend $21.78 a month for this AWFUL APP?… Not me! They raised the prices, which were already too much, even when they were under $10 for this terrible app! I have free apps that do a better job, and don’t seem like “predatory pricing”. 😡 Tried canceling last year after being very ill when a money tracking app finally noted my recurring charges were over TWICE the amount they were, just to encounter further challenges. This app is worse than useless to me now- I can’t wait to cancel it, except that years ago a friend who is now not around😢, helped me scan my important memories and lesson plans. This app (purposely???🤔) makes it a hassle just to print each document out, just so that I can finally just go back to square one after over a decade with a big pile of papers so that I can finally cancel this app that I have now wasted many hundreds of dollars. I am appalled at them, and ashamed of myself for not handling this app sooner! Also, when my credit card changed, this company somehow convinced my credit card to reinstate the recurring charges. Disgusting behavior after over a decade with their original overpriced scanner that I thought would help this disabled teacher get more organized. Unfortunately, it has cost me hundreds (likely thousands 💸) to be even more inconvenienced, and worse- feeling trapped because they have my important information. ***Don’t bother unless you want similar treatment. Use G**gle-based and other reputable apps for FREE.*** ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on iPhone 15 Pro Max with latest iOS. *2023-10-23, version 1.0.43* Please text your product before you release it. Please test it on new iOS versions. A scan app should actually scan a receipt. This one doesn’t. ### 1/5 — Have to re login EVERY TIME YOU USE THIS APP *2023-10-16* The Point of an app is for it to be quick easy and convenient. When I’m doing receipts, I have to continually log back in. This is such a waste of time and a barrier… maybe some people like it but you should at least make it an option in settings to have no login or a month or a week but definitely five minutes before it logs you out is too soon! Got “cloud API unavailable” 6hrs on the phone with Neat, no resolution. $313 paid for a yearly subscription… and 90days later they have mo record of it.
