It’s always the same albums and it’s a significant number of them. To push the annual subscription up by a staggering 39% despite no app maintenance is disgraceful. Please Apple what’s going wrong with this app? Mary ### 1/5 — Bad bad bad *2023-04-18, version 1.24.4* I used App on iPhone 13 - freezing screens, poor playback. Customer service is also poor. Requesting a refund. NYA app was great in the past. Nothing but disappointment now. ### 3/5 — Lasted 3 days *2023-01-04, version 1.23.0* I was stoked getting a subscription for Christmas. Downloaded App, subscribed as Classic yearly and I was good to go. Great App with so much good stuff on it. Love the high res quality. The joy lasted for 3 full days and then I got booted out. I had to log in but was never given a password. I Asked for a reset but the e-mail never arrived. As last resort I signed up with the same e-mail hoping that would work but ended up with free account and that is where I am now. The Archives Team is trying to help me. They can see my subscription but it shows on my Apple ID. Hope they fix it soon because I really like listening to Neil. ### 1/5 — I used to like it, but not any more *2022-11-17, version 1.23.0* I’ve had this for some time. Not quite a year ago, I paid $40 for an annual subscription. It’s not up for another month, yet I cannot access my account without getting asked to subscribe. I sent them a note a week ago, and got a quick reply with a question and suggestion based on the question. I responded immediately and trie the suggestion, but it didn’t work. It’s now been a week with no responses on how to fix. Why would I send them another $40 to renew late next month. Neil is now part of the establishment he’s been critical of for decades, it seems. ### 3/5 — App does not function well *2022-08-22, version 1.21.0* Every time I go to open this app it takes a long time to open. It gives the spinning wheel for so long that I typically give up on it. And then when it opens it has signed me out. Almost every time! Honestly wish Neil would just get back on Spotify. $19 a year or whatever it is is not worth this dysfunctional app ### 2/5 — Great Music Bad App *2022-03-31, version 1.21.0* I subscribed so I could listen to Neil Young after he left Spotify. I’m excited to have access to his complete library. However my first impression is that the app is not great. The search feature crashes the app making building playlists tedious. Albums are listed by album cover which makes it hard to find a particular song/album if don’t already know where to look. Finally, the music player doesn’t have standard repeat or shuffle options. ### 2/5 — Does not recognise subscription anymore *2022-03-06, version 1.20.2* Really enjoyed this app for two months and now it no longer recognises my subscription. Tried logging out and deleting app etc but still doesn’t work. Contacted hosts but no reply. Really disappointed as I love the content which I would rate as five stars. Will have to delete and stick to playing his vinyl ### 4/5 — Like Shakey, a bit flaky here and there *2022-02-06, version 1.20.2* While the app doesn't have the polish found elsewhere, as a portal for the NYA it does just fine. Once you've got used to how the filing system works, you get ot find most of what you're looking for easy enough. It's just great to have all of Neil's work together in one place and at such high resolution. Even with Lossless, Apple can't get near to how good this stuff sounds. Each time i get the spinning 45 center and then it takes me back to the login screen. Absolutely pointless. ### 1/5 — App? What app? *2024-03-08, version 1.25.1* Neil, I love ya, but please just take this app off the market until your team can make it work. I updated my OS and downloaded it again but it just won’t work. I enter my ID and password and it takes them, but then puts me right back at the log in screen. I was all set to subscribe to the NYA to listen to Neil on the go, but now I guess I’ll have to get a Tidal subscription. ### 1/5 — Love Neil. Paid a week ago and after trying every day since, still only have Free access on both desktop and app after re-downloading and “restoring subscription” a million times. ### 1/5 — Terrible App *2024-02-13, version 1.25.1* Apparently I made a huge mistake paying for this subscription through my at home laptop. The app often won’t allow me to login and claims that an error occurs when I try to login with my credentials. In the unlikely event I do get logged in without needing to go through the hassle of first changing my password, then the app doesn’t recognize I have a paid subscription and won’t allow me to stream the music I am paying for!! If I try to stream it from my web browsers on my phone it redirects me to add the app and won’t let me access the music that way either. And the tech support/contact us feature apparently goes to a black hole where no one ever responds. Absolutely terrible experience and I truly expect significantly better from Neil Young. Now I’ve created an account with my email address I just get a message saying to tap CONTINUE and login with it, but tapping it does nothing. ### 1/5 — Can’t access app *2023-12-20, version 1.25.0* After logging in a pop-up appears explaining that Facebook and Google accounts are no longer valid and all accounts will be transferred to email-based. All well and good but when I select the Continue button at the bottom of the pop-up the pop-up doesn’t disappear meaning I can’t access any of the app. I’ve tried closing and reinstalling the app but still have the same issue. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2023-11-25, version 1.25.0* Can’t get past the opening prompt. I hit continue and nothing happens. And there doesn’t appear to be any kind of support or help section, even on the website. Considering how much is the membership, it’s a shame, because the content is gold. Has all his content in hi res plus hundreds of tracks unavailable elsewhere. Also all his videos and movies available to watch. The time line provides all of his content and books by date. As a member you can write to Neil and he does answer letters in his own newspaper. Free limited access and only about $25 per year for so much entertainment and education. All members can get early access to his best seats with no markups. Earlier versions were buggy but it now is much improved. Good customer support as well. The technology behind this platform is impressive, offering a seamless and immersive way to explore decades of music, history, and related content. The subscription is worth every penny, but even the free version is incredibly generous and accessible. As a Neil Young fan, I feel genuinely lucky to have such rich access to his work, stories, and archival treasures. For music lovers, this is more than an app—it’s a living, breathing history of an artist whose influence runs deep. ### 5/5 — Great app delivers great music *2024-12-05* This does a great job bringing Neil’s music to me at the touch of button. All of Neil’s albums plus unreleased content. Now works on CarPlay flawlessly. Delivers in hi res so best quality on the web. The latest version adds zooming to the newspaper making it easier to read. If you are a fan of his music get this. It even has his new $500 box set for streaming, while no other music site has yet. ### 5/5 — Love ya, Neil! *2023-04-18, version 1.24.4* The archives are simply amazing. Phenomenal sound quality and there is just loads of history and info about Neil’s career. I will never regret buying a membership for this!
