The “Particle Engine” feature is great for creating interesting new sounds. Very happy with purchase. ### 5/5 — Indispensable tool for working with audio in AUM *2021-12-09* Fast becoming an invaluable too for working with audio in AUM. Diverse range of features. Use it as a sample library, editor, looper and slicer with drag and drop to other apps (even at the slice level). Now with particle engine it is a granular instrument with even greater capability for making new samples, sounds and loops where you can add/bake in effects. Great work! ### 5/5 — No Brainer *2021-10-22* He did it! Auv3 in stand alone mode. This is outstanding. At the rate the developer is updating this app, we’re gonna need a 6 star system soon. By far, the best AUV3 audio editor on the App Store, and quite possibly the best audio editor overall. Now with he ability to slice, warp, click and drag to files, and automatic LUFS measurement, its a no brainer. At first, I thought this was a nice idea to have a solid audio editor that can be used in AUM and other programs. It seems that a clip launcher was its original purpose, but this thing is also a beast in stand-alone mode. I would love it if stand alone mode support AUV3 plugins as well. Thanks 4pockets for developing software that makes working on the iPad so rewarding. ### 5/5 — Quirky needs work *2021-10-20* Still needs work on I feel that lately I’m being a beta testers off music apps and paying for it. Having problems with not being able to get rid of the apple keyboard that pops up when going to load a file or save file a sample. Have to reboot my new 8th gen iPad to get rid of the keyboard on the app. Or delete the app and re download it. Also the sample likes to move when highlighting the sample to edit. I’ve never had a problem with apps from this maker before. I know that apps can be glitchy and that, I hope they can figure out the glitches and this will be a awesome app. Please fix thank you. Also a way of contacting the developer would be awesome to report bugs / glitches instead of having to leave it on a apple review. ### 5/5 — Swiss Army knife for audio *2021-10-15* Anything from 4Pockets deserves attention but this one takes the biscuit. Easy to use either standalone or as an auv3 insert, Neon gives me a fantastic toolkit for working with odd shaped recordings and samples and wrestling them into shape. There are a number of apps that also do this (Cubasis, BM3, etc) but Neon is light enough to be usable anywhere and strong enough to do the job (pretty much any job). We’ll done Paul. Another triumph ### 5/5 — Very useful. *2021-09-25* I’ve only used this in AUM so far which has its own file player, but this is much better. The main reason I bought it is the ability to edit a clip when it’s been recorded or loaded with Neon. For example if I want something to loop and fade in and/or out, I can do all of that using this app within AUM. I don’t have to make changes in advance before loading the clip, I do it all on the fly and if I don’t like the result, I can discard the changes and return to the original. This app is well worth having. ### 5/5 — The Easiest Audio editor for IPAD OS *2021-09-25* Neon makes editing audio a breeze. With a timeline that can snap to 1/128 of a beat and even handle triplets. Looping, reversing, adding effects to any part of your audio sample has never been so simple. It will work inside any host that accepts auv3, and has a great clip launcher, if that’s your kinda thing. Now it will even rip audio from, or add audio to video, which is very useful when creating samples for most genres of electronic music. Just like any other 4pockets app, it is powerful, has an interface that anyone with the slightest knowledge of iPads can learn in a few minutes, and is very competitively priced. And unlike some developers Paul from 4pockets is constantly updating his apps to bring you even more great features. 5* stars all the way with this. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Hunh? What just hap… *2025-11-17* 1) Stand alone app has no record capability, no icon to record input. No related facets in app section of iOS Settings. 2) App support sends me out to an unknown vendor with mega cookies and nothing related to the app nor a place to get help. 3. Online help in the app is outdated to solve the problem. 4. No recording for me today🫩 ### 1/5 — Record button is gone *2025-10-24* This is a weird audio editor, but I had decided to make it my main recording app for spoken recordings. It’s a bit difficult to use because it’s unconventional. However, it’s quite powerful with good features and appears to be worth learning. But, I’m not sure what happened, but the record button seems to have disappeared and this is true on three different devices. I tried restarting my iPad, reinstalling, uninstalling followed by shutting down and reinstalling, but nothing worked. I tried looking to see if the microphone setting had been turned off, but the app doesn’t even show up in the list of apps that request it. I went to the 4pockets website to message the dev and it’s down. Not sure what else to do except to leave this review to potentially get some help. If I can get this solved, I’ll rerate the app. -Frustrated ### 1/5 — $15 for what feels like a beta test *2024-05-24* This app regularly crashes and has terrible UI, and is just straight up missing features that should be standard to any editor. ### 2/5 — not very good… too many bugs, needs work! *2025-11-20* the UI and the interaction is not very well done, also yesterday I tried to play a longer file, 21 min. and in the second half of the file it is glitching out with the high frequencies, all the other audio players and editors I have play the file just fine. IDK what is causing this but it makes it unusable, unfortunately, I wanted to like this app but it keeps disappointing. ### 2/5 — What about middle aged eyes? *2024-12-04* I haven’t figured out a way to increase the font size. It’s rather difficult to read on an iPhone 12 Pro whether standalone or as an Auv3 . Please advise ### 3/5 — Not really a good app *2022-08-21, version 1.18* It’s really not intuitive. For me anyway. Also does not register gestures consistently, making zooming and placing markers extremely cumbersome. It also gives weird errors that I don’t understand and doesn’t let me move forward with certain operations. The error messages are in broken English so they’re not helpful. I use a DAW on a desktop regularly so I’m not really sure what I could be doing wrong. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect *2024-01-11* I need an AUV3 app that allows for manually slicing up a sample then playing back the slices via midi keyboard. This app does all of that and much more. However, there is no option to have a slice play all the way through to the end of the sample once triggered. It will only play the short snippet of each slice between the slice markers. To the dev Mr. Paul: Please consider adding this option! Thank you. ### 4/5 — Very good, but seems bit buggy at times… *2023-06-18* I bought this so I can fix timing errors in my loopy pro doughnuts. Very full featured app, does so much. However I find the interface can be fiddly or inconsistent just to do simple operations like zooming, cutting out a section, inserting silence. Sometimes features just don’t work at all, until i restart the app. I try to share a loopy pro doughnut and ask it to open neon, but neon does not open. Think I will repurchase auditor as it is a breeze to quantise audio and everything works 100% of the time. I don’t need a clip launcher or recorder if I’m using AUM, as I have loopy pro and koala. Neon is fantastically featured and very powerful. One could do mastering with it, but I tend to do that with desktop anyway. I just find Zeon fiddly and inconsistent to use for my purposes. ### 4/5 — Nice! *2021-10-15* Still needs plenty of work to make this important or to stand out.. but it’s a start. Are you using a specific host? How are you triggering them? ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — An issue with Neon while trying to play recorded files *2025-10-12* I have always loved Neon from day 1. Today this is the first time this has happened to me. I was playing a song I had recorded and mastered from a folder. It wouldn't play, instead Neon opened and it said the song was sent to my 'Export' Folder. I wasn't using Neon and I'm certain Neon wasn't used anywhere in the recording process. I thought that was weird. Closed it out. Tried it on another song. Same thing. I tried it on a couple more. Same. So I uninstalled Neon. No problem. I haven't tried reinstalling it. ### 5/5 — Really like this! *2024-11-14* I’ve been searching for a reliable audio editor for some time now, and as I already have several of Paul’s apps, I know they are top quality and extremely useful. Something that stood out to me was that audio could be saved as MP3 as an option, which seems to be a bit difficult to find on iOS apps. Everything in this app is very easy to use (once you’ve read the manual, and had a few experimental tryouts). I’m impressed with the quality, forethought and skill that’s gone into this, and I’ll be using it a lot, probably with an assortment of Paul’s other apps included, because they all compliment each other in very useable ways. Great job! ### 5/5 — Unable to record audio when using standalone *2023-09-04* I use this app with NanoStudio 2 and it’s a lifesaver. I’d love to be able to record audio standalone, but for some reason I am unable to. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or if I am doing something wrong. Other than that, this app is great. But if I had to provide 1 constructive criticism it would be that the gui is often unintuitive with multiple ways to do some things and buttons in unexpected places (compared to other desktop equivalent experiences). I expect some of this, particularly the file management quirks are due to limitations of iOS though. Even Adobe would be proud! It even allows metadata editing, which is so useful for those involved in digital distribution of music.
