### 4/5 — So close!

*2023-10-17*

I tried the trial version of this app, the concept overall is fantastic and it’s sooo close to being really good, it has the base components but just needs to level up its graphics and rewards to make it even more appealing.

Right now the rewards are mostly apparel for your character, but I would love to see pages with specific badges and achievements and notifications (think Duolingo currently) that I can go back and view or look forward to. I really enjoy the rewards and reminders of their game.

Would also love to see the social component expanded too so you can make “friends” or guilds and compete for titles and things.

All in all I still really enjoyed my trial and am probably still going to sign up in the near future because I love the content. Just can’t wait to see more improvements because it is going in the right direction to make people who love games turn fitness into the same fun experience!!

### 4/5 — Amazing

*2023-04-06*

It’s an amazing app, very underrated. Can help a lot, mentally and physically.

### 3/5 — Please list equipment needed

*2021-05-31*

Overall, it’s a pretty good app. I would like more flexibility in being able to choose workouts, even from the beginner phase, especially as I am not a beginner. Right now I’m not challenged and that’s frustrating. Their free content on their website is sometimes better and I wish it was incorporated more. One big request: please clearly list equipment needed. For example, the body weight workouts require a chin up bar which I don’t have. If I had known that, I could have either chosen a different adventure or purchased one. Overall, it’s okay. I am enjoying it for now and hope I’ll enjoy it more as I get into more challenging workouts.

### 4/5 — Handy workout info and fun quests

*2021-01-12, version 1.0.16*

I find the app tracks my total workouts and my progress which is motivating :)

### 4/5 — Work in Progress, But an Excellent Start

*2021-01-12*

Nerd Fitness has been one of the only things that has kept me consistent in terms of fitness and nutrition. I never feel like a failure if I need to start again. The app is easy to navigate and has a fun superhero narrative throughout. The community is really supportive and they are adding new missions which has kept it fresh. The app, like my fitness journey, is a work in progress so there isn’t a lot of customization yet, but I look forward to seeing how the app grows over time.

### 5/5 — Love it!!

*2021-01-11, version 1.0.16*

I have been using nerd fitness since it began (many months now!) and I really like it! I don’t mind paying because I really like the consistency and the ability to choose my own quests and goals.

I think it’s greatest power is in habit building, with a heavy lean towards fitness —but honestly I prefer it this way! There’s a hundred apps all about just push ups or just strength training, but this is my daily 1-stop and I can see my chosen quests and what little win I need THAT day. Currently I have one about drinking more water, one that is giving me points to do my own workout of choice (Zumba, for me!) and a no snacking after 8/ intermittent fasting one. PLUS there’s a “daily win” each day that’s a little action you can do under 5 minutes that is good for you in some way! And when you check them off you get gear for your avatar!

What I’d like to see more of, though, is some somewhat um... “prettier” gear (sorry; I’m sure they’re doing their best but like, some of kinda fugly. BUT other things are cute— love my butterfly wings FTW!) and I’d like to see that you can un-check a goal once you checked it (I accidentally cheated a time or two with big fingers!) but honestly I like it!

Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Love

*2021-01-11, version 1.0.16*

Great app: it hits the sweet spot between structure and free choice of areas you want to prioritize (mindset, nutrition, exercise or free for all quests). The NF Prime community is super supportive and positive, and the group challenges are a blast. I’ve even increased my pushup ability by 500%! I have this app to thank for becoming stronger and fitter, not weaker and sadder, during Covid. Yeah, it would be cool if it were free, but I think it’s terrific value for $.

### 4/5 — Daily tasks reset at midnight, and the daily reset time cannot be customized

*2020-10-06, version 1.0.4*

I’d like to offer some feedback but am unsure of where to send this. My feedback is to please allow users to personalize what time the days reset. I personally have a circadian rhythm disorder, meaning my schedule is shifted significantly from the norm and that I am consistently up well past midnight. I’m sure there are also at least other rebels who work nights or weird schedules. It feels dishonest to preemptively mark something as complete before midnight just to get it marked before it resets and then have to make sure to remember which ones I marked and what activities I still need to complete later. This is particularly tricky when it comes to activities with an accompanying video such as daily wins and the guided meditations. I’d prefer to mark them as I do them and have the system be able to recognize that I did do it during *my* day, *my* shifted 24-hour cycle, and not try to tell me after I wake up that I’ve already done whatever activities “today” when I haven’t yet simply because I marked it complete after midnight. It’s also a huge bummer if I finally have time to complete the daily win after midnight but have now lost access to it because it already reset. Perhaps this app can even track sleep habits at some point (maybe this is still in development for you guys at NF), and that would be another pretty good reason to allow this customization for users. Despite this issue, thanks for a great app so far!

### 3/5 — Nerd Fitness Prime Required...

*2020-09-13, version 1.0.4*

You need NF Prime which costs about $99 a year. Shame the app is not available as a stand alone for something like $5 a month as I would have given the app a try.

### 5/5 — So motivational!

*2020-09-09*

This app is such a great tool for staying on goal, learning about nutrition, exercise and mindset, and is just a ton of fun to use. I like how simple the interface is and how they carry the superhero theme through the journey. The avatar creation could use some more options design wise for body size, hair style, and skin tone, but that’s my only small critique. On the whole, it exceeded my expectations for a fitness journey app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I miss using this app

*2023-02-05*

I really enjoyed using this app until about 2-3 months ago. I cannot get the app to open. I can’t even get it to show up on my phone. If I could get the app to work, I’d happily give this 5 stars.

### 1/5 — Still not fixed 2023

*2023-02-05*

Still freezing just like everyone else reported

### 1/5 — Crashes consistently

*2023-01-25*

Freezes up or crashes every other use.

I do not believe I’ll be renewing this subscription.

### 1/5 — Bug

*2022-04-30, version 1.0.23*

I cannot open the app. Please fix.

### 1/5 — Great program, horrible app

*2022-04-08*

This app is clearly written in some sort of web-based cross-platform nonsense. I have to force-quit this app every morning because otherwise it doesn't respond to any input. They need to hire developers who actually know how to write real, native apps.

### 1/5 — Irritating

*2022-01-06*

I wanted to try out some nerd versions of exercise because ADHD makes it difficult to do anything that isn’t stimulating enough.
I tried the mindset field and the exercise journey both were mainly here’s an inspirational story. I don’t need inspiration to exercise. I need it to be fun and entertaining.

### 1/5 — App won't open

*2021-04-19, version 1.0.22*

Recent update to app caused the app to no longer open.

### 1/5 — All about money

*2021-01-01, version 1.0.15*

I remember when nerd fitness was a one time purchase and now everything revolves around monthly fees. This app feels like what should have came out for the academy years ago as a free perk instead they essentially want to double charge. Huge let down that nerd fitness is clearly just money driven now.

### 2/5 — Why won’t the videos ever open properly?

*2022-05-23*

Nearly every time I open a video the entire app crashes. The program is good but the videos need to be better integrated considering the amount of money you pay to have access to the program. It makes working out extremely hard when you have to stop mid workout (I’m specifically having issues with the mobility training mission right now) where I have to stop every 30 seconds because the video freezes. Or right now the video just keeps crashing the app every time I pull it up and it crashes apple air play and everything. I’ve currently spent more time trying to fix the video than the workout would be. Please fix this. I also can rarely view the daily win video and instead have to read subtitles across a black screen to get the daily win. If the videos are that bad they should just give a transcript instead or at least in addition to the video since I can never view it.

### 3/5 — Seems fun so far but some bugs

*2022-09-13*

It is everything I hoped it would be, as far as how it works and plays out, but it has some glitches. I cannot update my age because when it opens the calendar it seems to be white text on white background and I cannot use the calendar, so I am stuck being born this year. My hero page does show the hero fully, but my profile image has all of the parts of my hero misplaced so it is hair above blank space, blank skin, parts of a face and an outfit not all collected into an actual person. I'm still in the free trial and planned on upgrading but am concerned that Nerd Fitness may have ditched this app as the last update was a year ago.
As much as the concept is exciting I don't want to buy into something if the developers stopped caring about it.
As far as the quests and the main function and the intention of the app it is exactly how I would want it to work and I enjoy it. I do wish my hero's face wasn't so high up on the head though.

### 5/5 — Feedback

*2022-10-22*

I’m actually enjoying the app a lot, but I have a feedback for the UX team and/or working partners. Please use “Continue” as a button on the pop ups messages instead of “close”! Gracias! 😄

### 5/5 — Couch Potato No More!

*2022-06-16*

I love the app! It’s fun, has tons of great information to read, and super nerdy. It’s motivating me to make small changes and become the best version of myself!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-01-15*

From my experience, it’s fun and runs smoothly on my phone (iPhone 12 whatever-it’s-called, iOS14). There’s a lot of fitness apps out there, but this is the only one I’ve found that turns fitness into an RPG-style experience, which is awesome.

### 5/5 — Creative, motivating, and easy to use

*2021-01-12*

Love the new app! The UI is awesome and so simple to follow one mission after the next. It’s already helping me tackle my New Years resolution more so than on my own. It’s very motivating (and creative) to build my character as I accomplish workouts and be a part of the NF community!!

### 5/5 — Keeps me focused!

*2021-01-12*

Excellent tool to build good exercise habits. I’ve started and stopped exercise programs more times than I can count, but Journey has helped keep me motivated and focused on my goals in a fun way that keeps me excited for my next achievement!

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2021-01-12*

Do not wait. Join up no matter what shape you are in—there is something here for you

### 5/5 — Keeps me going

*2021-01-12*

I have been using this app since it was released and it has worked like nothing else for keeping me motivated on my journey to health. I have tried gym memberships, paid coaching, diet apps, beach body, etc. and none of them have worked as well as Nerd Fitness Journey. That is because this app rewards me every day, with digital points/stuff, for keeping after it...and it doesn’t set unrealistic goals for me. If you are trying to get healthy this year, I would highly recommend downloading this app.
Plus, creating a superhero alter ego character is awesome!!

### 5/5 — Fun and Motivating!

*2021-01-11*

This app has been a fun way to get daily wins in for fitness, nutrition and mindset. The different challenges keep it fresh for me and I have really appreciated the group interaction on the private Facebook group available. I like choosing the journeys that are meaningful to me and leveling up my life in the process. Plus I’ve created a pretty amazing superhero of myself!

### 5/5 — Long awaited

*2021-01-11*

I was a fan of nerd fitness before the app. I am a bigger fan now with this app. The community is fun and light hearted but the motivation is real. The app sets realistic goals to build healthy habits and motivates you with xp and fun avatar costume accessories. I truly have enjoyed this app very much! Thanks nerd fitness for encouraging and embracing a healthy nerd lifestyle.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2021-01-11*

This app is awesome. It’s just one more reason to love nerd fitness.
