## What is NESR ePermit?

The Work Permit App is built to replace paper-based work permit checklists with a digital solution. It ensures efficient permit management, prevents data manipulation, and provides an easy-to-use interface for engineers / field supervisors to fill, save, and synchronize permits between multiple devices.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-09-02

Version 2.0 is a major update to notifications, the permit flow, and how work sites and roles are managed.

NOTIFICATION CENTER
• A new bell keeps a permanent record of every permit handoff, with an unread badge.
• Tapping a notification takes you where you need to be: drafts open at the step waiting for you, while submitted permits open in the read-only review on the Board, or in the Archive if they have been filed.
• The badge and the list update the moment a notification arrives, instead of trailing behind it.

SIGNERS ARE KEPT INFORMED
• Everyone who signed a permit is now told when it is submitted, declined, cancelled or aborted — including rejected renewals and closures.
• Authorized signers show their email address, and an address is required when adding a new one, because that is how a signer is matched to an account and reached. Signers already on the list without one are marked "Not notified".

REQUESTING ACCESS
• Asking for a role, work site or segment now notifies your admins in the app, by push and by email, and you are told as soon as your request is approved or declined.
• Where you can only hold one work site or segment, a request now asks which of the ones you hold you are giving up, and your admin can see exactly what approving it will replace.

PERMIT STEPS
• Step 1: shift start and end times are checked as you pick them — no times in the past, no end before start, and a 16-hour limit.
• Step 3: a Job Safety Analysis is now mandatory. "Safety glasses / Face shield" is split into two questions, since a face shield is only needed for grinding and welding.
• Step 4: the receiver and issuer sign-off now uses the same signing card as Step 6, with the authorized signers list and employee ID auto-fill.
• The authorized signers sheet is searchable by name, employee ID or email.
• The same person can no longer sign one permit twice, including on the Step 4 joint inspection.
• Clients now have their own authorized list, with the same badge auto-fill and information sheet that receivers and issuers have.

WORK SITES, SEGMENTS AND ADMIN
• If you work across more than one segment or site, Step 1 now lets you choose instead of assuming the first one.
• Admins can manage segments and work sites, and curate the authorized receiver, issuer and client lists from a new Signers section in the admin portal.
• New users signing up now see the current work sites and segments rather than a built-in list.

FIXES
• Cancelling or aborting a permit now always reaches the server. Previously a permit cancelled without a connection could come back as an open permit with a number.
• An authorization section locks as soon as it is signed, even if the handoff notification was never sent.
• Crew details and gas tests can be edited on open permits.
• Several fixes to notification delivery, so pushes and emails reach everyone they should.
